A fantastic website I use every day - not just for playing on but also for opening research to help me create chess courses. Lichess is an unbelievably good chess resource for players and researchers alike :) Cheers, K
Thanks for the lucid explanation! I didn't realize what a profound effect that TV series, combined with Lichess' hard work scaling the site, had on online play.
Feel free to also check out the Lichess Blog ( lichess.org/blog/YulPhhAAACAAvm1f/lichess-half-year-update--new-feature-sneak-preview ) as well as the changelog ( lichess.org/changelog ) to stay up-to-date!
1) why are you here then? 2) in all honesty, I am a lichess user and I work for a software company; my IT side appreciated the talk more than my chess side (talking about scaling, etc...) a random chess player is interested whether the site works, not in which component has its own server...
@@panda4247 There are better open source projects around. Only chess players appreciate Lichess. For SDEs there are much better open source projects to learn from other than this piece of shit website.

Big Techday was a tremendous pleasure, both as a speaker and as an attendee. Thanks to TNG for the invite and the Lichess team who helped me prep.
It's amazing the level of engineering from a team of volunteers!

Interesting to gain a look under the hood of the Lichess machine, also a well done presentation by Alexander!

This was a very interesting lecture. I hope we can have one of these once a year just to catch up to what's going on with this website 🙂

@@LichessDotOrg Thanks! BTW, where can I find the answers on twitter that were mentioned in the Q&A at the end of the video?

2nd biggest chess website hope you become No 1 someday, Lichess is so good no ads, and With a professional environment.
Multiple premoves is a disadvantage to the faster player, i hope lichess never adds that feature
I spam a lot in chatroom lol sorry.
Raise your hand if you have used Lichess... o/
I'm writing to Elon to fund this forever in perpetuity!
Ew, gross. Please do not associate with that scumbag.
This is something only chess people would appreciate. In all honesty, what a waste of talent and resources.
