Yer Slappy does in fact walk and stalk in goosebumps 2 because in goosebumps 2 he stalked Sarah Qienn and he walked when he brought all the monsters to life
I would like the 90s show design WAY more if they had his hair brown or even black. Or even if they just made it a darker red, where it shows up brown in certain lightings. Also his voice is too goofy. It sounds like Bugs Bunny, I can’t take him seriously. He was a little better in “Bride of the Living Dummy”, but still too goofy. Jack Black and Avery Jones did an incredible job. Their voice is how I imagine Slappy sounding in the books. I’ll have to see more of this current Slappy, maybe I’ll change my mind. It has potential. Currently, I’m indifferent about the voice. It sounds incredible when he’s raspy, “stick to the plan” and “I’m the only one you can trust” lines have me wanting more of the voice. I might change my mind. This current design looks a little like Jack Nicholson’s Joker with the wide grin. I do wish Slappy’s lips were more red. Also am curious to see how he would look in his classic dark gray double breasted suit (not that I’m complaining about the outfit he has in the show. I really love it. The top hat is an added bonus. Can’t wait to see him with his new top hat that’s taller and folds in). This is definitely the best Slappy design. It looks like an actual ventriloquist dummy from the 1820s’. The eyes are absolutely perfect! There’s images where the eyes look more green than blue, like on the majority of the covers. So they have it both accurate to the description and accurate to the artwork.
I couldn't agree more, man. This is also the creepiest design we've ever gotten for Slappy, and it really gives similar vibes to the original book cover.
I actually like the HorrorLand Slappy. I agree, the Classic reprints (which uses a similar design) look weird. I liked how Slappy looked on the covers of “Revenge of the Living Dummy”, “The Streets of Panic Park”, “Slappy New Year!”, and “Son of Slappy”.
@@theultimategoosebumpsman7220 God Slappy was legit BRUTAL in Slappy New Year. Woody bro made a kid’s nose BLEED, made him insult his family, and somehow didn’t kill his brother by having him slip his head on a BRICK.
@@theultimategoosebumpsman7220 basically the same but switch the movie and old tv show around, although I actually have never been a super fan for the og dummy cover whilst I like the first 4 dummy sequel covers more lol. Bride and 3 have always been some of my favorites. 😂
@@theultimategoosebumpsman7220 yeah, although I’m biased as heck. The first goosebumps movie I saw in theaters when I was 7 and it sparked my interest in goosebumps😂
If the 90s show was supposed to be Mr. Wood, then they would’ve just painted his hair brown real quick when they decided they weren’t going to do “Night of the Living Dummy”. So that theory doesn’t make any sense. It doesn’t take that much time and money to paint something.
That’s actually true. I asked Tim Jacobus when I met him and he confirmed that. He also said that one of the dummies on notld3 is supposed to look like Mr wood
Dude, I agree 100% with your ranking, my #1 was always the one from the first book as well…that creepy face of his was the reason I read the book in the first place!
This is a neat video for Goosebumps. Slappy has been through some changes. The Slappy in the two movies. Was creepy looking. I like your list. It is a good Slappy list. Goosebumps is a classic. RL Stine is a good author. The books can out due the movies and shows. You can make things the way you want to in a book.
Although it has some differences, I think the 2023 Slappy is the most accurate, yet realistic version out there. Probably one of the best attempts of mixing accuracy with realism. EDIT: I never realized Slappy had blue eyes.
The original book design is the most terrifying %100 agree. I actually ended up throwing away my copy of _Night of the Living Dummy_ as a kid because I could not get those piercing green eyes out of my nightmares.
I’m trying to imagine the current design while reading the books, but it’s hard when I’ve had the movie design in my mind for the past eight years. It doesn’t help that the movie was my first experience with the character. I’d only read, “Cry of the Cat”, “When the Ghost Dog Howls”, “Little Shop of Hamsters”, and a little bit of “Deep Trouble” before the movie. My friend read me some of “Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb”, so that was my first Goosebumps book.
Yeah I definitely understand having trouble getting the movie design out of your head. Especially since that is the version of Slappy that is used on all of the new reprint covers.
The D+ Series is my favorite. Jacobus did a great job, but he got the blue eyes wrong. I really like the warped features that the D+ one had, the very piercing blue eyes, and the loose hair that he had. Also the Jacobus one looks a little too smooth for my liking. Definitely creepy, but the D+ variant speaks to me the most.
Now here's a trick question: Where would you rank the replica book Slappys you can buy off of ventriloquist dummy websites? Because THOSE are probably the most accurate Slappy we'll ever get. I have one of my own. 🤣😎
If I'm being honest, I would actually rank those pretty low. While they are the most book-accurate versions of Slappy, they are also very cheap-looking, in my opinion.
@@theultimategoosebumpsman7220 Oh I absolutely agree, they are meant to be cheap collectables, not serious iterations of the character in media. Even still, it's always gonna be funny to me how those cheap replicas have the book Slappy look down to a tee, even with the smallest details. The only inaccuracies they have are green eyes, not blue, and a gray suit. But other than that, they're eerily perfect.
I mean, I can understand that. But in my personal opinion, I never found movie Slappy to be that scary. Especially in comparison to the designs from the 90's show and the 2023 show. Both of those designs are genuinely creepy, while movie Slappy feels a bit too much like it's toned down for the kid audience.
I love 90s tv slappy. He looks cute funny and hansome in my opinion compared to the other scary versions of slappy from the disney show and the movies. Tv 90s slappy isnt scary at all.

yeah I gotta agree with you on #3 actually. while I associate that Slappy heavily in my mind with him being Goosebumps SHOW'S mascot and actually like the personality they gave too, it's true that he doesn't really look as described in the book.😂and YES #1 is THE OG forever!!
When I drew Slappy, I kind of mixed the movie design with the regular design.
U made slappy😮😮
Cool
That’s accurate
I mentioned on Goosebumps Series Instagram that we haven’t seen Slappy walk or stalk yet. And they responded with,
“You can’t rush greatness”.
