I saw it when it first came out in 1980 but It wasn't until after I was born again in 1985 and learned more about the Jewish Nation that I fully understood why Neil's father was sometimes in disagreement regarding some decisions Neil was making. So after I was born of the water (immersed under the waters of baptism in the name of Jesus) and after I was born of the Spirit (God filled me with the Holy Ghost and spoke in tongues), and after I began to read the Bible, I watched the movie again and had much more revelation. Neil was Jewish. He more than likely knew the I AM was the ALMIGHTY GOD even before he could walk. In my opinion, Neil is crying out to God in his loneliness. Yes, God gave Neil an enormous amount of talent but he also gave him a will to chose, just like he has given all of us. Deuteronomy 6:4 says: Hear O' Israel, our Lord, our God is one Lord… The God of the Old Testament is the Jesus of the New. The way the blood of Jesus is applied to our lives is thru being born again, (John 3:3-8, Acts 2:38) Thus we are redeemed back to God bc of what happened with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
