    The instrumental part right before the first verse is one of the best things in existence...

      Honestly, I've banged that part on full volume so many times, I turn it down afterwards for my neighbours but jeeeeesus what a riff, that little squeezed guitar note in the second run is so perfect

    Easily my favorite song on Pacific Myth. Every instrument and the vocals are tastefully mixed and the riffs are fuckin great!!!

    Do you mind taking this down fella? These songs aren't officially released outside of our subscription and we don't want them on youtube until they are released.
    Thanks for supporting PTH and new versions of these songs will be made available to you very soon.

      +Zack Almeida All good fella. We were encouraging our fans to keep this exclusively while we did our subscription on Bandcamp but now it's released it's not a problem. I like when people who post videos of a bands song link to where it can be bought since our sales at protestthehero.bandcamp.com go directly to the band ;)

      don't worry tim, I was searching a lot for the songs cause I can't subscribe to your page since I got not way to pay online (I live in Tj, border with the USA) and hadn't seen this video until now that the real release came out. I guess he really made them private, now that I write this, I'm kinda of a new fan, I heard volition in mid 2014 and I love all your work. I'll go to the San Diego, California show, I play guitar and would love playing your guitar part to bloodmeat, my dream would come true

    This is my first time listening to this song after rediscovering them when Palimpsest came out and the difference style vocally is huge, I love this a lot more than I thought I would and I wasn't sure it could get better after their newest album because I wasn't crazy on fortress or volition minus the song Mist because it's about newfoundland and that's where I live lol

    Rody is on up there with the best of them and if your ears can't hear it... listen harder or, at the very least, quit bitching. As a guitarist who can play most PTH songs and bows in awe at the technical prowess of the instrumentalists... this would be nothing without the passion and grit Rody provides.

    • @blakebelladonna9075
      @blakebelladonna9075 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Idk why or how, but I honestly have always believed they botched the final mix and master. It's so weird because listening to the Bandcamp mixes, and knowing how the final versions sound, all I can think is "How did they fuck that up? The original mixes were already great and they ruined them".

      I haven't been on iTunes in a decade or so but I'm guessing you get the final release (full EP) version from iTunes. This is the original release mix. I only just noticed how big the difference is, and I'm listening through a phone speaker.

    I much prefer this mellowed less chaotic, less metalcore, more melodic side of Protest the Hero. Still find the vocals kind of annoying though, but am willing to forgive it for the musicianship.

    • @ericdublinski3206
      @ericdublinski3206 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      you better hope a prog snob doesn't read this lol. i can understand your statement about the vocals but you should at least acknowledge that rody has amazing range amd control. his voice does take getting used to tho.

    • @benwebb4424
      @benwebb4424 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh, I agree. I enjoy a lot of prog stuff myself. I don't think its the prog elements that usually keep me from liking PtH. I think it's actually the opposite - I like prog, I like metal, but when they're doing metalcore chugga-chugga-breakdown riffs it ruins the atmosphere for me. Though maybe that's my bad and I shouldn't think of PtH as being a proper metal band and maybe just embrace their hardcore moments. Still, the vocals despite being done with skill just aren't my thing. I tend to like a bit more metalness in my metal vocals.

    • @benwebb4424
      @benwebb4424 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've been listening to metal since before metalcore was a mainstream thing. I don't mean that in a "I'm older and smarter you young whipper snappers" sort of way, but more for reference and perspective. I mean, punk tinged metal has been around since forever basically with thrash and what but I find some PtH songs to have a very distinctly metalcore sound, and I'm half wondering if its because I've heard metalcore evolve as a genre and what I'm picking up on is closer to the roots of metalcore than what a lot of people associate with it now. Off the top of my head Nautical is a good example, about two and a half minutes into Nautical there is a breakdown and the song has a lot of hardcore chanty vocals throughout. Both the start and ending of Bloodmeat are quite metalcore-ish with the intro sounding like something Botch would have wrote and the ending being somewhat of an old school-ish hardcore groove. Also at about the 4 minute mark in Bone Marrow there is a chuggy breakdown riff too. I'd have to go back and listen to their stuff more to see what else I can remember since I don't listen to PtH very often.

    • @ericdublinski3206
      @ericdublinski3206 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even if it is metalcore-y bone marrow and blood meat are badass and bloodmeat is what got me into them. I have alot of respect fot pth regardless how they are classified lol

    • @benwebb4424
      @benwebb4424 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think how metal-or-not the vocals are is the hang up. I just don't particularly care for his vocals even if I can acknowledge his range. Sometimes doing something 100% perfectly just isn't that interesting. For what it matters, I also dislike James Labrie from Dream Theater, and he's pretty on point too.

      I've you had listened to their past 3 albums you would find that this song is still in the line of PTH musicianship, but are a fucking stupid snob. And please, kezia isnt a good album, so dont say the "their first was better" elitistcrap. This album is fucking kickass, maybe isnt as good as scurrilous, but is freaking awesome
