    "It seems more like a video game" .... well, probably because Monty Oum was a video game animator before coming to work for Rooster Teeth. Best known for phenomenal fight choreography. The Red Trailer is ten years old as of this year, but I think it still holds up. It was Monty's original pitch to Rooster Teeth, to sell them on the story of RWBY. "What if Little Red Riding Hood was a cute anime girl who also slays Werewolves?" and the rest is history.

      If I remember Monty had a 3d model and animation of Crescent Rose folding and unfolding and showed Burnie and he green lit it right there, granted I believe he asked for the trailer right after but the original mock up of Crescent Rose is what sold him on the idea.

    I didn't see it mentioned, but the singer of the trailers was Casey Lee Williams and she was 12 yo for the Red, and I think White, trailers and 13 yo for the Black and the Yellow ones. Her father, Jeff Williams was the composer and musician for the trailers. Both Jeff and Casey are the OST musicians for the series to this day.
    The voice actors and actresses were just regular employees at Rooster Teeth. For example, Monty Oum, the creator of the series, stopped by the receptionist desk and asked if the receptionist had considered doing voice acting. She became the voice of the girl in the White trailer. lol Over the years, they've gotten very, very good at the acting. You'll have to watch the series in order to experience the progression in abilities and CGI animation. Each season gave them a bigger budget which means a much better graphical experience. I hope you enjoy the series.

    I know the weapons from the red(doesn't fire bullets but does the transformation) and White trailers have been made. The creators knew fans would want to make physical copies of the weapons so they put some effort in to make them make sense mechanically.

    I personally don't think anyone should reanimate these. Unless remastered maybe. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who can choreograph fights like Monty did. HIs work is a mix of video game fights, anime fights, and live action martial arts movie fights. Yang's 1v1 with one of the twins (the kicker) is a lot like Jackie Chan's rooftop fight in "Who Am I?"

  • @SigTheSauceMan

    2:22 "That's a gun?" Buckle up... *everything* is "also a gun" in RWBY. If you see any character with any kind of weapon, assume it is also a gun.
    Also to explain a bit more, the girls are aspiring Huntresses (Hunters/Huntresses are people who hunt those shadow-y creatures, called the Grimm).
    Hunters/Huntresses possess an "Aura" (basically magic) that grants them a unique ability (a "Semblance") that's typically reflective of their personality. Also their weapons are custom-made and almost always have multiple forms.
    Ruby Rose's Semblance is "Petal Burst" and it allows her to move at near instant speed and become intangible. Her weapon is a scythe/sniper hybrid.
    Weiss Schnee's Semblance is "Glyphs" and it allows her to summon avatars of creatures she's beaten in battle before. Her weapon is a sword/revolver.
    Blake Belladonna's Semblance is "Shadow" and it's basically shadow clones, but also allows her to instantly change the direction of her momentum when she makes one. Her weapons are pistol/grapple/sword hybrids.
    Yang Xiao Long's Semblance is "Burn" and it's basically kinetic energy absorption, storage, and release, allowing her to power up after taking a beating. Her weapons are basically brass knuckles+bracers+shotguns.

      Blake's Gamble Shroud is a semiautomatic pistol and kusarigama, which also functions as a sling and grappling hook, while the sheath of Gamble Shroud on it's own can act as something like a machete

    -the Late, Great creator of the series Monty Oum (Rest in Peace) made that first trailer all by himself as a pilot pitch to Rooster Teeth, they accepted it and formed what is known as the "Crwby" who helped animate it and eventually took over after Monty's passing.
    -a common thing to keep in mind for this universe: nearly every weapon is also some form of gun
    -the animation only gets better (for the most part) from here, but the best parts of this series are the music and fight choreography in my opinion
    -the wolf creatures in the "Red" trailer are a type of "creature of Grimm" known as a "Beowulf"
    -the person who sung in all these trailers (Casey Lee Williams (i might have misspelt her name)) was only about 13 when she sung the soundtrack at this point! Mad Talent!
    -Ruby and Yang are half sisters

    @ObatongoSensei ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Blake's shinobito doesn't turn into a string-attached pistol, it turns into a kyoketsu-shogi, a ninja rope weapon, just with a built-in pistol.
    Yang's are not gauntlets, since they do not cover the fingers and knuckles. They are dastana, an Indian protective bracer which covers the back of the hand, the forearm and the elbow.

    This got a bit long... No problem if you TLDR, but oh well...
    You can call it anime if you want, but I personally would not... I'm not trying to be a snob about it, I see it as more of a difference than it being better or worse and I might even love that the differences exist... Kinda makes it a neat hybrid... But especially with the main show, if not as easy to tell from these trailers, there are many factors that I would pick up on, to the point that I could be pretty confident in saying it was western, in both origin and where it was animated...
    For me it's like asking for a sausage sandwich, and getting a hotdog (or vice versa)... Both are potentially just as good and are similar in various ways, but if you're specifically in the mood for one in particular, at that time... You may not be disappointed enough to complain, but it wouldn't be what you were asking for... You know? I still love the show and it's one of my favourites, despite its many flaws, but if I was specifically in the mood for anime, it wouldn't be something I'd naturally pick.
    Anywho, personally, I wouldn't expect volume 9 to end the story... It feels more like a transition volume from what I've seen, but I suppose with teasers they often show stuff from the early parts of the volume, so who knows where it could go? I think they said that they had at least enough material for 12 volumes at some point, but it's hard to tell if they will get greenlit or not yet... It's possible that the company might get dismantled first... I hope the show continues a bit longer... I'm not sure exactly what the response to the recent actual anime version is... Although it is a side story and not technically a remake/reboot kinda thing, even though it does do a bit of a recap of volume 1, at the beginning, and adds a bit more context to it, even if it skips over other parts... I enjoyed the recap part, but haven't had a chance to watch the rest yet... I wasn't sold on many of the clips I saw though, I suppose... It wasn't necessarily what I wanted from a RWBY anime... Not necessarily bad either though...
    Personally, volume 7 was my favourite... I can see why you might have issues after volume 3 or 4... Volume 5 is probably the one I find most inconsistent and 8 I felt was executed slightly poorly, especially in a couple key moments, despite a lot of cool stuff within the story... Didn't help that it followed on from 7, which I think is the most solid volume in the show... While I disagree about the importance, I can somewhat see where people are coming from in regards to complaints about certain story elements and characters... Still, while I miss Monty's choreography, there are still a lot of good fights, especially in volume 6 and 7, I think.
    I kinda wish you'd pointed out that Ruby's VA sounds much better in the show than in the Yellow trailer, but oh well ^_^;; lol.

      Japan considers RWBY an anime. Calling it the West's first true Anime. RWBY is actually more popular in Japan than in the west

    • @KitsyX
      @KitsyX ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Spikeba11 That may have been the intent, but it is different from anime... If I intend to write an old school Rock n Roll song, but end up writing and arranging in the Blues style... Sure, there may be similarities, but I wouldn't have written a Rock n Roll song, even if they both use the 12 bar blues chord progression... And I'd say that these two things would be closer than RWBY is to anime.
      If you really want to call it anime, then fine... I'd be less confident in what you describe as anime if I am specifically trying to find anime, but it's not the end of the world... But I hope you realise how weak that argument is lol. Not that intent doesn't matter, but it also doesn't change what the end result was.

    • @KitsyX
      @KitsyX ปีที่แล้ว

      @@whenwordsfailmusicspeaks246 I'm not sure how true that is... Besides, in Japan isn't anime just short for animation and includes all animation? I'm not sure... But the way I use the term anime is to talk about the style and type of animated show that originated in Japan... I won't insist that it comes from there, merely that it matches that style... RWBY does not fit that mould to me... Except for the actual anime.
      There are differences in how the 3D models look, the way they are animated, the style of the narrative and comedy/slapstick... Even if you ignore the voice acting and lip flaps, which really give it away if you compare both dubs or maybe even just watch the Japanese dub, with how poorly it matches up, if I remember correctly...
      Call it anime if you really want to, but I personally wouldn't... I'm not trying to gatekeep or anything (I love it more than a lot of anime), just categorise... If I didn't already know, give me a line up of 3D animation from Japan, plus RWBY, and I'm pretty sure I could tell that RWBY was the odd one out.
