I was deeply enchanted from beginning to end. This work is truly, truly full of emotions. I was deeply touched. I felt every movement. It's soooo beautiful,, The simplicity is divine.
Thanks! Mastery in Sumi-e and Chinese brush painting depend on two things: study and practice of the strokes, and releasing emotional energy through the strokes. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Totally amazing! I am speechless watching you paint ; do viewers understand the utter difficulty and complexity of this artform? The years and hours of practice you have dedicated now allow you to create a spontaneous masterpiece in just minutes. It is truly astounding. You make it look so easy, as as an instructor of this art form I know is it very diffcult. I am smiling and my heart is smiling. Your color unity is very unique and increases the meditative aspects. Bravo!
Hello Felix! we always used to joke that our teacher had a magic brush, but then he disproved this by using OUR brush to create masterpieces. The right brush (hard or soft bristle) does help, but practice helps more. Good luck and happy painting!
Your strokes so assured and old school... so mesmerizing. And the bird...looks like flying away anytime. Brilliant. Bravo bravo bravo!
Hola Nyuu! Yes, I studied for 30 years with Chinese painters. There are many different styles and 'schools'. My master was from the 'shei-i' or 'paint the idea' school. Painting is my passion!

Paint the idea; I like that. My high school art teacher always said, "That is not a flower. It's a representation of a flower to your brain. Don't try to paint the flower. Represent the flower.". Watching your painting emerge is a perfect example of his statement. Such beautiful music as well.
Your teacher is so interesting.

Virginia, its really wonderful that Prof. Ju I-Hsiung's legacy lives on in the hearts of many. I saw him paint in the 1960's and now I saw him again in you. However, as we evolve and mature over the many years and tons of practice, an individual technique evolves. Yes, Chinese painting becomes a very personal voyages that transcends to higher levels as the passion keeps flowing from within. Once more Virgina, congratulations an more success.
How lovely to hear from you, Reynaldo! Prof Ju was such a treasure, and he lives on in the hearts and brushes of so many of us. I have hours of video that I shot of him teaching and plan to put excerpts up on my blog joyfulbrush. I hear his voice in my head constantly, encouraging me always to reach higher.
Simply excellent.
Thanks so much, Uttara Sarkar! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Please enjoy my other videos too, and my painting blog on my website joyfulbrush.com
