I used the chat line and spoke to some woman. I asked if she would call the cops, and she said only in rare circumstances does that happen. I made a vague threat and she asked if I was suicidal. I immediately said no and ended the chat. If I said yes, police would've been banging on my door. These people are LYING when they say police won't be dispatched. DO NOT tell them you're suicidal, even though that's literally the whole reason why you're contacting them. They WILL contact police and you WILL be hospitalized involuntarily.
I am suicidal. I called 988, but police were NOT sent to my location even though I gave the person on the line the name of my city. I was NOT hospitalized even though I had a rope in my basement, one that gave me a whole plan to hang myself, even though I was /this/ close to ending it all. My experience with 988 doesn’t speak for everybody, as it can be different. But this child, right here, scared of my parents finding out, call 988 and got to have a little bit of hope. I said I had suicidal thoughts, I talked about my plan to use the rope I had. But you, who called, made a threat, said you weren’t suicidal, and then hung up, you can’t say that there will DEFINITELY be police. You don’t even know, you just hung up and said, “Well, this means they will put people on cuffs and send them to a mental hospital!” AND YOU SAY THAT BASED OFF OF WHAT?! HAVING POLICE OVER AND BEING CUFFED?!?! If anybody feels unsafe, and needs some relief, there will always be people out there to help. There are a lot of people on the Internet, and services you can reach out to. And if anybody has a horrible experiences with 988, then they should talk about it! That is not fair, especially when they need help. But YOU just made a “vague threat” and hung up. Who are YOU to say they will send you to a mental hospital? Thanks for the fear 😕
when You know, I had an experience with these 'experts.' I communicated with them via chat for about three hours. Then I said that I was tired, wanted to sleep, and bid goodbye. And do you know what she did? She called 911. The cops came and forced me to go to the hospital under the pretext that it was free. I lay there for a day, persuading everyone that everything was fine with me. Next came a large bill for the ambulance, then for being in the hospital. Do not contact this organization at all! They will drive you into great depression, and they will add large bills that you will need to pay.

Go to an AA meeting… on zoom or person. It connects you with other damage people… And it’s way cheaper than therapy. I know how you feel. Or go to an IOP.

I would warn anyone calling 988 to try to think and be very specific about what you say. If you have family or friends who could help you, that might be better support to get you professional help if needed. There can be help out there without calling 988.
Just think about what is good about you I understand more than you think and I believe that at least someone would feel at fualt and many will be devastated I know it is hard for your mind to Change from text but I think you are worth living and that you can make your existence worth it I hope you don’t do it and hope someone is there for you so try to keep your mind of think of good as much as you can though it’s just very hard it’s not worth it I think you have some reasoning and I think you can make through it I am a ten year old kid saying this if a child thinks this than so do adults and your age group just know you are worthy of life and you are going to make it you don’t deserve to feel like this most definitely PLEASE DO NOT KILL YOUR SELF YOU ARE WORTH LIFE

Don’t call. They call the police and I have been locked up without needing it. This is why ppl cannot be honest. Your feelings do not mean you are going to do anything. It is a feeling!!

Only in very rare cases will they call back. The only time they MAY call back is if you say you are going to hurt yourself or someone else and then hang up… and even then they may not call back… If they do call back they will only talk to the caller and they won’t disclose who they are or that they are with 988. If you want to talk to someone at 988 you should call or text them… if you have more questions please ask them 😊

Only in very rare cases will they call back. The only time they MAY call back is if you say you are going to hurt yourself or someone else and then hang up… and even then they may not call back… If they do call back they will only talk to the caller and they won’t disclose who they are or that they are with 988.
