Mr. Wax you're a gentleman and a scholar and you happen to be absolutely spot on in your very astute observation. 72 post Europe the band was just on fire. Keith had settled in comfortably and they were young, healthy, hungry, and playing tremendously night after night. I'm confident I've heard every piece of music the band has ever played, particularly 72 to 74 and I can say I don't think they ever had what could be considered a "bad night" during this time period. Not to get negative or become unnecessarily judgemental but I have read comments recently of some folks who are big Dead and Co fans saying that the band is playing on par with anything the Grateful Dead ever played and I really can't believe folks could even consider something so utterly nonsensical. If folks get off on Dead and Co that's fine and I think Bobby is a national treasure but I'll leave it at that with regards to the current musicianship. Billy K threw in the towel and went on to other projects for a reason, so I think anyone can draw a reasonable inference from that.
@@michaelkearns8499 I don’t think that’s being negative at all. I think dead and co is cool and they do a good job, but I wouldn’t say on par with the dead. Especially in this era that we speak of…
This is a pleasure to listen to! Man, Bobby's guitar work was so good in the early 70s. I love 80s Dead , but it's all Brent, Phil, and Jerry melodically . In the 70s Bobby really contributed to the music in a big way !
I was there. saw a bunch of Long Beach Dead shows. all memorable indeed. some people behind us kept telling us to sit still, how could we? i think this was a show that Airto (and Flora?) added to the drums/space section. the Dead could turn that big old arena into an amazing venue. thanks for the memories.
Getting my friend into the Dead. This collection will blow his mind next time he's stoned. Last time I played "The Other One" and he was getting into it. To give you a sense of who this guy is he didn't know who Bob Dylan was and only listens to modern rap. If you guys can suggest you favorite Dead concert collections please comment
YOP. I like the scary ones. They would go way, way dark deep n'EEEV-VIL, and then pull you back in. There are moments in the 1972, 73 and 74 jams - man, if they had just STOPPED playing and said "Children, go forth and eat some policemen's eyeballs" - dere'd be a lotta blind cops.
I totally know what u mean ,some of thy most incredible Evil ,sinster majestic sounds came from these "old dudes" ..sad to say we will never in this epoch witness this again
I asked Jerry about this show when we were at a BBQ at David Crosby's "love shack" and he said he looked up and saw his own face in the sand dunes of the sky. I was just floored as you can imagine!
Mourning do...MISS YOU! Rockin peace Justin my wonderful son - my sunshine - here comes sunshine your 1st show, 4 years old, jerry waived to you dancing my golden blond boy, now you play with jerry not me those strings are silent your hands ashes my heart is gone with the dead mind dark starless space between joy and emptiness all is dead and done HOW THE FUCK DO I GO ON
I am crying with you I too have lost everything I ever loved but listening to the Dead helps to heal my broken heart .you are stronger than you know and your love for all things in the universe will keep your mind from shattering.in peace and love your little sister Teresa
I was practicing along to this, looked up to the screen at 15:54 and saw jerry looking at me. Closer look of the pic, it's just stars but if you tilt the screen in the right way you can see him.. he's the right half of the picture
Hi, Great tunes!!!! Lovin' IT!!!! Just a techie comment, TH-cam takes the names of the videos to make the file name for downloads, Or the Download plugins do.... Only a Mac allows slashes (/) in file or folder names! (Very bad practice!!!) Please don't use slashes to delineate the names of songs etc. We have to rename all the files to remove the slashes. Thanks, Sammy
What if a Grateful Dead show was nothing but perpetual weirdness. Could you pass the Chaos Test. Could you tolerate it? How would you cope? Would you finally take it as a lesson that the universe you live in is inherently imperfect and just be at peace with it. Fuck up is to shit storm as Murphy's Law is enforced on the unsuspecting annoying perfectionist. Get real or get off the goddamn bus, dude.
beyond , and then much further
72 was my first show..14 years old In Hartford Ct…The only thing I remember was when Dickey Betts came out ….i was so excited..RIP DICKEY
I absolutely love post Europe ‘72 Dead. Some of the absolute best stuff they ever did. This is a great example of why
❤1000% agree

@@wax7550Dead without Jerry is like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without the jelly.
This to me is the definition of Grateful Dead.
Dew is beautifully sung. Love you Jerry.
That’s a jammin’ dark dew!
Stunning. Primal Dead.
I wish todays music could be like this.
Nothing like a Grateful Dead concert.
kids today have no clue.
Dead n Co tour 2023 was groovin 😎 🐢 🌹 💀 🎸 🐻
Epic show here😮!
This is a ridiculous piece of music!! Holy cats!! The improv is incredible!!
hell yeah
Superb live, no two tracks were the same. Pop served to restrict artists, the grateful dead done their own thing

The aura to this song is absolutely magical. And the lil thought twister you made is great too
***** For real, real grateful ϟ
The picture has absolutely nothing to do with the venue. That’s why I stayed.
makes a cropcircle look like mere folly
At times Keith sounds a bit like the great Keith Tippett.
far out...words inadequate..intresting star away from original lauren like yr take...tim shawcross
