Overwhelmed Ryder

  • Ryder's 4th birthday party - Mommy, Daddy and Grandparents went in on a real KTM 50 mini sx. I spent the last week taming this thing and de-tuning it. Still has a little too much power for his 40lbs, but I will fix that with an adjustable throttle. Ryder was completely overwhelmed yesterday, which is just what I expected. This is new for me too, as I've never taught a 4yr old how to ride a dirt bike!! More to come soon...

So many people commenting should do this shouldn't do that ... This father clearly knows how to ride and was clearly tought how to ride like this .. Unless the kid is completely forced to ride it with no support there is no problem .. I think we should all sit back and say at least this guy spends time out there with his kid which so many fathers are to busy or don't want do these days .. I hope I have a son so I can do the same mate well done and hope he sticks to it

What i've found is to teach them by just pushing them around the yard with the engine off, just put your hand on the rear seat and push them around. If you can find a little hill for them to coast down they can keep doing themselves until ready to learn throttle control. Learning to balance and throttle at the same time is almost always disastrous.

Very simple, look at all the junior bikes. Options, crf50, klx110, ect ect... all have crap suspension, and just all round crap bikes. The only junior bike the has all the ability as a real motocross bike is the KTM 50 and 65. Do dome research before you open your mouth. I have a cr500af, kx250, and my race bike is a kx450f. Nothing wrong with 2-stroke, and for a kid parts are cheaper, so even better.

To be honest with you, I'm kinda jealous about him. Motorcycles are my whole life and I would give up almost everything to start riding as a kid and start my career in motocross. I always had to confront my family to buy a bike meanwhile he has a great head start. And I AM jealous.
BTW: I'm Polish and english is my secondary language so you are most likely to be right about that "for" and "with" :P

  • @YFZriderdude15
    @YFZriderdude15 12 ปีที่แล้ว

Thats how I got my bike too, but it doesn't mean you gotta go brag about it and act like you're so much better than other people because of how you got your dirtbike, because that's certainly the mentality of your comment, because honestly, next to nobody really cares. Keep your integrity by not acting like that, and bragging about it. You'll gain more respect that way. Btw, when you say "for", I think you mean "with". "For" doesn't make any sense when used in that context.

Not at all! I have owned ktm yamaha kawasaki suzuki all of em. I really like suzuki but them seem to break after a couple months of hard riding. Than theirs ktm very expensive high maintnence but is super fast. Ive ridden plenty of hondas and to say the least they lack the power most the other 2 strokes ive ridden have. Not sure why but they just dont pull up as much dont make me hold on as tight as other bikes.

I can't believe how many disrespectful people there are in this world!!! This father just posted a video of him giving his son a dirtbike for his b-day and people gotta bash him for that!!! Grow up!!! If you don't like it, just don't watch the video, plain and simple!!!

My 4yr old will have a mini adventure under the tree this year to match daddys "orange motorcycle". Glad I watched this vid. I had been wondering what might be a safe way to teach him some throttle control. How long did it take little Ryder to get a handle on it?

You should watch the vid of him taking the dunes later on, your wrong about age, so don't shew horn everybody into an age bracket, this kid will be a great rider because his father is dedicated to teaching and the kid will love every moment of it.

Nice man! I got my son a pw50 for his 4th. He has no problem ripping around the yard with training wheels, but now wants them off (4 1/2 now). The step stool take-offs are a great idea. I am going to try that. How is Ryder doing on the bike these days?

Sorry to be negative.....he's never ridden before & he has no armour/gloves on trying to balance it with gardens/cars & houses around him with no throttle restrictor....spend less buy him a PW50 that has a restrictor & give the lad some armour.

very cool. Moto is the best family sport in the world!! the 15 dislikers must be enviro wacks. I am just about to launch the importation of electric mini bikes so more kids can get into riding and move onto bigger bikes- and a lifetime of enjoyment!

Why is the idle so high, that won’t be good overtime because I heard 2 strokes shouldn’t really idle a lot anyways.

I don't see the point of buying a kid a motorcycle if they can barely even ride a bike. I'm sure you could have bought them one of those bikes that look like motorcycles and he would have enjoyed it just as much.

Very cool. Reminds me of learning in the mid 70's. my safety equipment? A 3/4 helmet. Let the kid have fun. Worry about more gear on a faster bike. Btw that rear sprocket cracks me up! A mini wheelie monster?

wish I had one when I was little. A bike will keep a kid off drugs, from stealing. It will keep him off everything except the trails. A bike is a good purchase.. no telling where it will take him. nice job!

Lol always found it hilarous how when someone's about to start pretty much any off-road vehicle, all the little kids run like it's a bomb lol xD
