    QUICK UPDATE FOR THE TUTORIAL:
    As per this writing, update 0.7.1h has made the inside of the “mods” folder look a bit empty save for a zip file. NOT TO WORRY LADS! The process is still the same.
    Just drag n drop the folders from your custom sprites, songs, etc. into your downloaded Psych engine mod’s folder and your all good to go!

      Yes indeed you can! Tested this off cam the other day with a Psych Engine folder I later nicknamed “Misc Mods” and just basically imported everything from this one shot mod I downloaded into that mod folder. I just say to try to follow the template included in that zip file and older versions of Psych engine
      In short, say that sprite file you had downloaded had a “mod/images” folder, just bring in the “images” folder and you’re good

      I wanted to put a custom GF sprite but I can't, I put all the json and png files in the right parts and it didn't work. do that in this update 0.7.1h?

    I dont see a "Playable GF V2" in the character editor. I have done the steps correctly from placing the png and xml files in the correct folder, And Swapped the voice.ogg with the GF voice packs and inst files that dont have the ".ogg" them. Please tell me if i did something wrong.

      As per the old Psych engine update (0.7.1) the mod folder did change a bit on how importing custom assets work. Did you copy the entire folder from the “Playable GF V2” into the Psych Engine’s “mod” folder. As you may have seen when opening the mods folder in your system files, it should be blank save for a WinRar file inside. What differs from this video is that you’ll want to copy the entire folder from your custom asset into the mod folder.
      Another thing I would try to help even things out is going on the Psych Engine’s GitHub page, downloading an older version of Psych engine and copying its folders inside of “mods” and pasting them into the newer Psych Engine’s “mods” folder. Afterwards, proceed with the drag n’ drop method mentioned in the video. Do let me know if this helps. You can find the GitHub page here: github.com/ShadowMario/FNF-PsychEngine/releases

      @@LoudTheOneandOnly As you mean i have to download the 7.1 psych engine version and not the latest one? Right now the psych engine's latest version is 7.2. Im using Winzip than Winzar. Does that change if i use any application that opens up compressed folders?

      It’s totally optional for the sound packs, yes. I only included them since I planned on using it for a later video (my role reversal one). As per your earlier comment, I was referring to an older build, say 0.6 I believe which still had all the existing folders before they were zipped like in 0.7.1 so that way it’s easier to drag and drop things over. It won’t change anything if you open up other folders. Just make sure your custom assets are where they should be and then boot up the game to test said assets in the character & chart editor.
      Also worth noting, with certain assets you bring in say like a mod that adds another week to the game or something, you may need to click on the “mods” option on the main menu screen and click its check mark for it to activate. I’m not sure why the 0.7 build does that instead of how it automatically worked before, but just wanted to give you that heads up.

    Hey man, Ive been trying to do that for 2 days straight but cant figure it out.
    Im using the GF V2 Sprinkles edition, and as you said in the pinned comment, I dragged the "SPRITE STUFF" and "VOCAL STUFF" folders into "mods" and nothing happened. So I tried with the folder that contained both of those, and nothing happened again.
    As a final try, I just dragged the png and json files into the folder, but still, nothing.
    I really dont know what im doing wrong.
    Also, I was trying to make the 17bucks floor 1 mod work, but got the same results.

      Hey there friend! I’m still currently researching all the bugs and whatnot as best as I can and believe me when I say, you aren’t alone. From what I’ve found, it sounds like some mod packs and assets aren’t currently compatible with the newer engine as some causes a rewrite in the engine’s code rendering said assets to be unusable. The only thing I can recommend at this time is to try uninstalling and reinstalling to see if this somehow fixes things or having to go with an older version until the engine gets this fixed. My deepest apologies and will update once I have more information.

      @@LoudTheOneandOnly hey, sorry to bother you again, but I managed to get it working on the WEEK 7 update version of the engine. But when I'm at the character editor, I cant save it, wich is strange since it's working normally with the chart editor. I pressed enter multiple times and nothing happens, and the only way to get out of it is hitting esc, but it does not save your progress. Any advice?

      Just to make sure I'm understanding you right, are you trying to make a playable character, in this case, the GF speaker over BF's spot or customize random characters to take over GF's spot?

    what about simple gf reskins (not to make her playable but just to change gf's skin in the background)

      You can follow along the same process except you wouldn’t need to worry about the character editor (i.e “The 8 key”). Just simply bring in the files as before (.json, .txt, .xml, & .png) and drop them in the appropriate places. Afterwards, go into the chart editor for most of l/all the songs you want adjust and just set the new character over gf’s spot.
      An easy alternative? You could just remove the OG GF_Assets and just rename the new assets to “GF_Assets” or whatever the name is for base GF in Psych Engine to not do as much work. Though I’d air on the side of caution with that route.

      Just to make sure I understand your question correctly, are you looking to change a sprite mid song or are you trying to do something else entirely?

      If I may ask, the sprites that you are trying to use, did it come with a .xml file that was attached with it? As you mentioned, the week 4 sprites are a set of its own .png and .xml files respectively.
      If you look in the Psych Engine folder (assets/shared/images/characters) you’ll see there is a “gfCar.png” & “gfCar.xml” file. Assuming your custom sprite already has the collective sprites in the .png file set up for the hair to be blowing, the .xml file that came with it should replicate that. If not, I would suggest renaming the files to “gfCar” for both the .png & .xml file and save them in “mods/images/characters” to basically overwrite over the base gfCar sprite and get the hair blowing anim to play.
      I’ll do more research but as of right now, I’m not certain how you would get the anim to play on its own without overwriting the base sprites without using something like Adobe Animate which frankly I’m not proficient in. Either that, or you’d have to mess around in some of the .xml scripts or a bit of the Psych Engine code.

      As far as the Newgrounds version? I can’t give a definitive ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on that. My assumption is if you’re able to change up the base game stuff similar to Psych Engine and/or Kade Engine, then yes. Otherwise, no.
      I would say to check out a tutorial or some guides with people more versed in editing assets on the Newgrounds version as I haven’t dabbled in that yet.

    Do you know how to install just a simple bf reskin mod? Mine that I am using doesn't have the json file, it only has a png and an xml

      Yes. For that, you will need basically need to find the original BF sprite files (which should be “BOYFRIEND.png” & “BOYFRIEND.xml” can be found by going to assets -> shared -> images -> characters). Then rename your reskin files to match the name of the BF files and then once that’s done, drag n drop the new files in and once prompted to replace the old ones, click “Yes”.
      If any of that was confusing, I got a video coming that’ll cover this sort of thing.

      You mean, making him a playable character? If so, you can just go into the chart editor and set him in BF’s spot to use the playable character instead of BF.

      Alright just to make sure I'm following you, this is what you did (do correct me or let me know if a step is unfamiliar to you/wasn't what you did):
      1-Downloaded the correct files, both your custom sprite sheet files and a copy of Psych Engine
      2-You extracted the Psych Engine folder and opened the zipped sprite sheet folder side by side
      3-In Psych Engine, you open the "mods" folder, then open the "images" folder, then open "characters"
      4-Once the "characters" folder in the Psych Engine window is open, you will want to open up the necessary directory of the zipped sprite file you opened and drag and drop the .xml and .txt files inside the "characters" folder in the Psych Engine window.
      To further assist you, could you tell me what sprite you're trying to use?

      Just downloaded the 32 bit to see what you're talking about. I can see the folder just fine for both the "mods" and the "assets" folder. Could you try double-checking how you went about finding the characters folder to see if you maybe didn't overlook where it is? If you mean where to find the spot where you place the image and .xml file at, you need to go to "mods" then "images" then open the folder "characters"

    How do i add .fla files?

      .fla files are designed to be used with Adobe Animate. Which from there you would select the files and save it as a spreadsheet, in short, your .png file that goes for separate custom characters you want to use within the game.

      Direct GIF files? Depending on its purpose, I believe you can according to this question/answer posted on Gamebanana. Though I will caution you, you may have to get into some code for it to work. Short answer: Yes if you’re willing to do extra work. If not, probably best to convert the GIF into a series of .PNG images

      @minebloxavplayz Don’t say that. You’re not dumb. Do take what I say with a grain of salt as I don’t have my PC to test this out at the moment, but you should be able to click on and drag the folders from the custom sprite you want import into the Psych Engine’s mods folder. As of this writing, I know the newer Psych Engine folder looks different in that it’s pretty vacant so to counteract the drag n drop issue, I recommend importing the folders like “images” and “characters” directly into the mod folder to ensure it’s read by the game.
      If for some reason you are unable to drag and drop, try right-clicking on the folder(s) and in the sub menu that appears click “copy” and then once you open the mods folder on Psych Engine, right click in the empty space inside it and select “paste” in the sub menu that appears.
