Are you fishing Cattleguard in this video? I was there the other day, and I really did like it there (it was quiet and no one else around) but I kept getting caught on the rocks while I was stripping. It looks as though your preferred fishing method is using an indicator. (?) Actually, I love fishing that way too but I've only fished that way a few times since I'm relatively new to this method. I love to watch that indicator go down....so intoxicating! Nevertheless, I plan on heading back out there in January, and thought I'd ask for your recommendations regarding which beach to fish from...what color/size midge to use....how far off the bottom are you fishing your midge? Are you using two flies? What fly are you using on the top if you are? I've got lots of questions, but after watching a few of your videos I believe you might have an answer!! Any information you can provide will be so greatly appreciated. I will continue to watch your videos.
Hi Amelia! No this was not Cattleguard. I’ve never fished that far south, but I’m sure I will soon. This was further towards the north end of the lake. For your January trip, it would be best to stay current with the fishing reports. Usually the fish don’t start feeding heavily on midges until March -ish. Most likely, any fish caught under the indicator in January will be caught on some sort of balanced leech, mimicking a baitfish. For those, I like to have a variety of sizes, from 1.5-3 inches long. The most common colors are black, white, green, and brown. I usually like to fish places where the water is 10-15’ deep. And I’ll vary how deep I fish my flies. Sometimes you need to have your fly really close to the bottom, sometimes the fish are high in the water column and you can fish your flies 4-5 feet deep. I pretty much always use two flies. But if you’re struggling to cast, or find yourself getting tangled often, switch to just one fly. I usually have about 2.5-3 feet between the two flies. @@SoggySleeves Wow, such great, detailed information! You are so kind to take so much time to reply to my question. Do you go out to Pyramid often? I’ve fished it for over 15 years, and love every minute I’m out there, even when I’m not catching. It’s my spiritual therapy! Nevertheless, I thank you again for your information.
@@ameliamarkarian1156 you’re so welcome! I’ve been fishing it for about 8 years now. I try to go twice, sometimes three times each year. There’s nothing like that place. Just the sheer size and magnitude of the landscape makes it worth it. Catching giant fish is just the cherry on top.
@@mikekmalick caught a total of 10 fish between my partner and I. We were dragging 7/8oz spoons and jigs. Don’t need to stand in the water. The fish are ambushing on the shelf’s.

The fish are in. Caught a 39” on Thursday.
@@Oilthings That sounds awesome! How much did that one weight? Is it pretty cold up there? How is the water temps?
@@mikekmalick not sure on the water temps, 10lb, and it was 25 degrees at 5AM this morning. I’ve been doing good from 8-11am then 3-6pm.
