I’m very appreciative of the training I received through AAPC so the least I can do is answer your survey” I was curious to see the results but to be honest scrolling TH-cam is easier for me to do than hunt down articles and explore written pieces on the website while I’m working. Don’t bother with a college degree. I say it cause I have one and it was a WASTE of time! It’s just an achievement and that’s it. But seriously, don’t bother with college.

    • @danielmoore4311
      @danielmoore4311 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      College makes sense for some and not others. It's short-sighted to say college is a "waste".
      Think about it. The majority of medical services that are billed and coded, are billable and codable because a licensed professional who spent many years in college performed a service.
      In other words, how would coding professionals bill/code without licensed college professionals? How could licensed professionals get paid without certified coders/billers?
      All education is beneficial. Just have to find the educational path that makes $ense.

    • @titus4166
      @titus4166 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I disagree. I’m a pharm tech and did absolutely no college work for it nor did I study pharmacology. I know just as much a pharmacist from just the experience and years in the industry. For licensure and certification programs, you DONT NEED COLLEGE! So again, don’t waste your time in college when you can get direct experience or pay wayyyyy less to get a certification that isn’t a college. 🙅🏻‍♂️

    • @danielmoore4311
      @danielmoore4311 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Can a pharm tech practice without the supervision of a licensed pharmacist? No.
      Pharmacy techs typically work under the supervision of a college graduated and licensed pharmacist. So if pharmacists don't go to college, techs can't work and don't have jobs.
      Again, college is not for everyone. But it's short-sighted to say that no one should go to college.
      Everyone has to determine for themselves what path makes the most $ense.

      @@danielmoore4311 if someone wants to be a pharmacist they need to go to college. If someone wants to be a pharmacy tech they don't necessarily have to go to college to get a job. A lot of pharmacy techs just have hands on training. It usually takes a couple of weeks to get a pharmacy tech certification though.

It depends on the company, but most that I've seen offer benefits (health insurance, 401k, ect.) and an allowance of paid time off. Just from what I've experienced so far it seems to me that some companies will hire contract workers and others will hire full-time employees and contract with the companies that need the work done (charts coded).

      @BexRanner 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cathyortiz5911 which test are you going for? My biggest suggestion will be to study the chapter guidelines (beginning of the ICD-10 book and every chapter) over and over again. Which may sound vague and not particularly helpful, but the exams are going to see how well you understand chapter-specific rules, so being able to recognize when to sequence a specific way will be incredibly valuable. It's always worth keeping in mind you will not necessarily need to *memorize* every guideline, but will have to understand they exist and where to find them in the book if need be. Such instances WILL be on the test, and being able to know where to refer in the book in the very likely event that you don't know them off the top of your help will be a huge asset.

This hands-on practice can give you a significant edge and confidence. Additionally, Preppy provides a college certificate of completion, adding an extra layer of credibility to your resume.
      These features, particularly the externship, can make a substantial difference in preparing you for the workforce and helping you feel more equipped and confident as you transition into your new career path.
      You can find more information and insights at preppy.org to see how it aligns with your needs and goals. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best in your journey into medical billing and coding!

    Ive talked to providers who say that coding is being outsourced and with the AI component what do you see for someone just getting certified? I paid for the class through AACP. Wondering if its going to be more of a struggle than a success. Your thoughts.

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      understandable to worry about AI in the medical coding field. However, it's important to remember that AI, like Maverick AI, is designed to assist and enhance the work of medical coders, not replace them. The technology helps automate certain aspects of the coding process, reducing the burden of repetitive tasks and allowing coders to focus on more complex cases that require human expertise and judgement.
      Moreover, the introduction of AI in the field opens up new opportunities for coders to upskill and work in areas like AI supervision, quality control, and more. So, rather than viewing AI as a threat, we can see it as a tool that can make our work more efficient and rewarding. Hope this helps alleviate some of your concerns! 😊
