*_As an update :_* Jacob has received his control bionics eye gaze computer! The computer allows him to use a keyboard to speak. It also allows him access to Facebook, TH-cam, texting and more. Jacob is working daily to master his new device. It will take time for him to use it quickly. But he is making progress.

My brother suffered from a brain stem stroke in 2014 and he was locked in and unable to breath on his own and was only able to communicate with his eyes. He told us that he did not want to live like this and was taken off life support. He died 5 minutes later. I want to thank these caregivers for letting him know they are there for him. RIP Allen.

You need to see a lawyer to get an Advance Directive prepared (also referred to as a Living Will, or a Medical Proxy). Once you have the documents prepared, you give them to your primary care physician and they will scan them into your medical records. That way they can see it if you become incapacitated. You also give a copy to your spouse, siblings and close friends. It reduces the chances of anyone in your life refusing to obey it. It will also allow the hospital to get an Order from a Judge if it is challenged by your family. This subject is very unpleasant, but you have to speak up while you can.

There are 2 situations though, one more horrific than the other. I saw on Scary Interesting a case where a guy woke up come a coma in Locked in Syndrome for years without anyone ever realizing! Therefore he did not have any family or nurses who would talk to or nurture him or provide him any kind of stimulation. Once, it was either his mother or wife, said out loud to him, they wish he would just die, not realizing he could hear them. Somehow, he kept the will to live and eventually a nurse noticed a slight response in his eyes, and everyoneiu0 found out he was conscious the entire time. He was at least able to communicate in his last few years, but his fate was the same as Jacob's eventually. 45r

Unfortunately Jacob passed on 7/15/22. One year after this news piece on him. I saw this a couple yrs ago, was on my TH-cam feed again. Curious about what happened to him, if he was better and found out he died.
Shocked me a bit. It's sad that some people have to suffer so much and can't have a happy ending. Rest in peace Jacob, your free now. With God.
