I almost bought a 1999 KW W900 with an ARI 120" cab, but passed on it because of the economy. But when I win a lottery, which will probably never happen, I would love to have a fully customized rig with a toy hauler. 20 years OTR and now I just want it for me. Great showing in your video!
25 years and now retired I'm leaning on my dream truck as early 90's 4964 Westernstar. Can't really put my finger on why. I do like the blocky look of a truck though. Early 80's cabover Pete has always had a place in my heart since childhood. Just wouldn't want to spend a lot of time in one. I never did get to drive a WS in my career, but always heard good things about them.
@festersmith8352 I have driven the 4900 & 5700. Each have their place, but I never drove a cabover. The European trucks still run the cabover styles. I love the long nose iron horse. 18 on the floor with Jake's and twin 8" stacks rolling coal.
@@wannabeangler I managed to drive one cabover up 1600 miles of I-5. It was enough to learn I wouldn't want to do it again. Not very comfortable, and crap for visibility all around. That right mirror is wwaayy over there too.
People who cannot appreciate the love between the driver and truck have never had a job driving one. I never drove sleepers all the time. Most of the time it was daytime and on the weekends I would do a little extra and make a run at the end of my day with a sleeper. I don't know if it was for the fact that I worked so long for the sleeper is just so comfortable. I have never had better sleep than I did in a sleeper. It's funny as drivers we can appreciate a hard dock. When you watch somebody back in like they have eyeballs on the back of the trailer it's just amazing. I really wish I never had to retire so early. I got injured in the trailer and never recovered to where I could go to work. The one thing I hate about the future is that they are talking about self-drive tractor trailers. That it will not require someone with experience to drive it.
Like the battery truck with 311 miles range before it needs to charge for 24 hours after....lol. A full tank of diesel in my old rig carries me 2000+ miles with 10 minutes to refill.
@@wannabeangler Bullocks, the eActros 600 can charge from 20% to 80% in about 30 minutes. Even if it's a bit longer than Mercedes says, it's still fast. And like the video specifically states, its range is enough for most trips.
Driving is only 10% of it. Dealing with rude people constantly and an ungrateful public is 90%. Not to mention the lack of parking places. People want to enjoy their fruit without thinking of the labors involved to supply it.
Kenworth my friend and you're probably right about old Optimus!!! This truck is absolutely beautiful 😍!!! But I'd prefer 5 axle drive 16 speed Allison automatic transmission with a 16V92TTTAI Detroit diesel but that's definitely as I said an absolutely exceptionally beautiful baby girl candy truck!!!! I'm talking about the orange 🍊🧡 one in the thumbnail!!! That by the way I couldn't find again in the entire video!!!!!!😒😠
Those huge sleepers cut into the weight the truck can haul and that cuts into the revenue that it makes. You’re also hauling around weight that cuts the fuel mileage while not making money. Those extra long wheel bases would mean some extra headaches trying to back into loading docks and in some places it would be impossible. Anyone that buys one of those needs to have a long term contract hauling a load that pays well and plans on being on the road almost all the time.
A truck is a " workhorse " is earns its keep by hauling loads for reward that is its primary purpose , driver comfort is essential, and good sleeping conditions , are paramount, European trucks' SCANIA , VOLVO , MERCEDES, do this without building mobile homes , American trucks by comparison go completely over the top , and look ridiculous, .....given the choice of trucks , personally, I would opt for a SCANIA 550 , that is a true workhorse , with comfort for the driver
I'm a diesel guy to bro but it's coming down to electric vehicles so Hey.bud don't fight it just give it a try and I bet you'll like it. I'm disabled and no longer drive but I got a trike bike and had an 80 cc 2 stroke on it and I was always having to adjust this or that plus just always had buy gas and mix oil it got to be a pain in the ass .well long story short I bought an electric setup and you know it's truly not a bad rig I have not had the first problem yet I'm sure I will eventually have problems down the road but it's not that bad you can mostly repair it yourself. And it's gonna be improving on them all the time. Just try it.
There's a factor for electric and there's a factor for conventional. In big cities, the electrics are beyond useful, you got a lot less noise and pollution. Really a game changer for the folks in those places. Now, out where I live, on the other hand. We need to be able to rely on the distance capabilities and so far the most loyal is the fuel burner, especially in the winter.
The ford f max feels like completely inspired by all of the European lay outs Ford's last cabovers were god awful now they going in the right direction. I wonder how long the luxurious ones would last on Australia outback roads they shake the living daylight out of you and your truck
4:55 Can clearly see this thing is bending already in the middle. All that weight will seriously be a severe dangerous thing to drive. The F-Max isn't used in many area's of the world. Mostly countries like Turkey are using it. It's not a preferred machine at all. Kamaz trucks, a truck brand for those that can only afford a potato and don't mind it falling apart. I'm nearing 6000 hours in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and just under 700 hours for American Truck simulator.
Thust, buy the Scania R 770,. Ore the Scania S 770. ( not in the usa). The Scania R770 is coming in this weekend. 11-29-'24. Bild in '24. The only new Scania R770 in the USA!
Concept robot trucks are a thing I need to come to grips with. Looking too eerie, but I guess I'll get used to the look. They are so cool and so ugly at the same time - ambivalence is overflowing
Trucks only make money when they are moving freight, A diesel only takes maybe half an hour all together to refuel I'm betting charging an electric is several days if you can find one of those charging stations that were never built and have to wait your turn. I longhauled for 16 years and it was all before these electric log books and no parking places, 90% of it in a conventional with at least 450 hp and 13 speed transmission pulling a Reefer. Safe Reliable get the job done trucks. Them short wheel base cabovers might be great in Europe and around large cities but it gets old real fast jacking your cab up to work on your mechanical issues as well as climbing in and out hauling all your gear up the side of your cab. Who ever made this video probably was not a driver.
Maybe just me but if I had the money id buy a euro cab over scania or Mercedes and id make it even more cozy and just travel never mind van life lorry life of some kind. But uk roads unfortunately are not compatible my uncle is a road train driver in Australia lucky bastards always rubbing it in 😁
The only truck drivers that sleep in hotels are the ones who drive day cabs because they don't have a sleeper most truck drivers me included sleep in the truck that's why they have sleepers ( ie their beds and storage and don't have "apartment sleepers on them).
Those American monsters are never going to Europe. With a maximum length of 25.25 meter for a standard truck the tractor is taking up a massive chunk out of it. I think European trucks have a better chance in America than American (style) trucks in Europe. It's no wonder Ford is dabbling in the COE market.
Can you believe it these "truck companies" like Ford, Mercedes, Volvo, ..., can't get the good stuff like the manufacturer numbered race parts for a marine engine muscle truck (rally street truck).

5 tons the bateries alone
