Lu's final podcast . . before maternity leave** y'all gave me a HEART attack haha. Can't wait to watch the full podcast - these are my favorite pieces of content
San Franciscan here! The notion of sharing | We share because it is the opportunity to taste all the great things on the menu. In California, most servers are used to family style. They will bring individual plates and serving silverware. We will get 2-3 appetizers, 2-3 main dishes, and 2-3 desserts for 2-4 people. When I was a pescatarian, my friends and I liked to lean toward my dietary restrictions, or we will have our own meals. With that said, I never heard of staggering the dishes. I, too, feel as if it is a ridiculous waste of time. We only wait on desserts because you can be too full from the smorgasbord. That is my take; now I am off of my soapbox. I adore the show.
Love whenever Heather hosts the podcast. I feel season 5 of the Crown has fallen a bit flat, with the exception of episode 3 which was like a mini biopic in it's own right; I really enjoyed the depiction of the rise of Mohamed Al-Fayed into British High Society ~ it's well worth a watch! This is a bit random, but I'm on the hunt for the perfect pair of winter tights (in dark colours and nude) to pair with various knit dresses I plan to wear all winter long. I feel Heather would have some great ideas and recommendations for this? Loved the podcast and will miss the elegant insights that Lu brings in her soft, knowledgeable and unique way whilst she's off on maternity leave. Good luck Lu! xoxo
Great episode. This new ... reflections on a piece of media part is so fun and inspiring. Also it comes across how comfortable you guys are with each other, really a pleasure to watch you all share knowledge and authentic opinions openly and unfiltered.
Lots of fun and laughs, thanks…have to laugh at “Ubering through Surbiton”. Reminds me of the Good Life….looking forward to seeing Jo Good soon I hope..
Estee Lauder own many many brands people think are independent like Jo Malone, le Labo, Kilian, Frederic Malle, obviously Bobby Brown , Aveda, la Mer, MAC, they buy for the brand aesthetic but roll out the brands to a wider audience . By the way thye have bought Tom Ford Beauty
Dominic West doesn’t look a bit like Charles, but his acting as him is so convincing that after the first few minutes I forgot that completely. I first saw West in the fantastic series The Wire (US) and I was astonished to learn later that he is not American. He’s one of the most amazing actors of this generation, probably because he’s British-trained. I’m American, but I don’t think our native actors are ever quite as good as most British ones, who can really inhabit a character, they do extensive “homework” for each role. I think all the casting and acting in The Crown has been, and is, superb. What a great series it is. I was only annoyed that we didn’t get to see Season 5 here in the US until November 7. It was, I think, something like a three-year wait, blamed on COVID, of course.
a.) Heather, you look amazing. Everyone does😊, but so good to see you hosting. b.) Lu, wishing you all the best! You’re going to be an amazing mom. c.) Where is the amazing sectional sofa from?
I don’t get my fashion inspiration from Insta, Tik Tok, Pinterest or other social media, but mostly from certain brands, like Ralph Lauren and Lily Silk, that always have things I love, trendy or not. In the rare cases where I might buy an “It Item”, it’s accidental. Now that I think of it, I don’t think that’s ever happened to me yet in my 50 years of fashion styling.
I stopped my sister from ordering three sides of garlic bread when I realized everyone at the lunch, about 12 diners, was getting a sandwich or burger. She ordered two and it didn’t get eaten. A lot of money is wasted this way. I don’t like eating from a common dish where fellow diners use their own utensils to eat from it, it’s not sanitary. This, unfortunately, has become a thing here in San Francisco over the last 30 years. I try to politely decline, but get pressured. Since COVID, I just now insist, nicely, that I want my own serving. Plus it always seems that everyone wants what I order, they don’t really want their own experimental or vegan choices, which they ordered to look cool. They also drink lots of alcohol, but I don’t. So, I only get a bite of what I want and water of a diet coke, but a $100 “share” of the check. I’m not stingy, quite the opposite, I’m just poor.
I'm really enjoying these filmed podcasts! Such a good range of topics and loving the Sunday paper segment although got to disagree re. The crown, really didn't enjoy it and the actress playing Diana totally lacked charisma, her constant head tilting was so distracting
Tom ford is not on the saturated market I think I remember reading how he will only dress one actress for the red carpet and one year Hayden panetier wore her own look of Tom ford which he then stated he did not dress her so it was kind of a diss to her choosing to wear it because she liked it and she felt good. so I think that could of been a downfall for him that memory is a downfall for me on his desire to be exclusive I love him as a personality I hope something saves his brand glasses makeup are ace
Totally dislike Gucci and their aesthetics. Tackiest brand forever. I think TF evolution is interesting, best beauty brand out there imho. Estee Lauder would own a lot in the cosmetics world after the acquisition. And for sure EL will change the formulae and packaging, look and feel of it. Scary thought.
I think the Policeman is a great movie and HS 's performance as well as the rest of the characters is brilliant . One of the best scrips out of a book I have seen lately . Season 5 of The crown is the one appalling and the worst cast ever . The actress who plays Diana does a good voice and gestures but she lacks the charm of Diana and Claire Foy. Looks like a bored flamingo alone in that ugly apartment in Kensington Palace . I couldn't go beyond season 2 Anyway ... Best wishes LU
Heather hosting..at last well deserved.
She is such a non pretentious intelligent down to earth host who is both knowledgeable and intellectually curious
Excellent podcast, fantastic in every way. Heather leading is a winner, always. And sad to say goodbye to Lu, but she really does look amazing

How long is maternity leave in the UK?
9 months!
It depends on the business (the paid period varies from usually 3-6 months), plus unpaid in total up to 12 months.
I'm 1.45 seconds into the video and have lost count of the number of times I've heard the word "like." 😫
Terrible, emanating the US girls
Love Polly 😊
Us too!

Lu isn’t as loud and clear as the others. She’s a bit farther away, sitting deep in that corner, but her mike is tilted away from, not towards, her.
