Really interesting video for beginners ! Glad I discovered your channel 🙂
I caught a PR 90 skill trigger eevee recently, would you say my best option to evolve it is sylveon if I also got a really good igglybuff I can invest in ? If not, what would be the better first eeveelution I should get ?
    Thanks

      Welcome aboard!
I personally don't use the calculator, so I have no idea what PR90 means! 😅 I have just spent a lot of time reading up on serebii and analyzing the game and doing some calculations on my own to rank certain Pokémon, so I therefore rely mostly on my in-game knowledge than models/calculators, as those can sometimes be misguiding if you don't set the parametres correctly.
If you have a really good Igglybuff, I would not go for Sylveon now personally, since Gardevoir has power crept the Sylveon...
One advantage that the Eeveelutions have compared to other Pokémon though is their abundance in candies. You tend to get a lot of Eevee candies from the friendlist since there are so many to encounter and since Eevee is a favorite Pokémon for many... and so overall you will have quite a bit of candy to invest.
The thing with the Eeveelutions too is that they are skill specialists, which are quite expensive to power up since you will need the Main Skill Seeds which are quite rare.
Overall it is recommended to find an Eevee with BFS (Berry Finding S) and Skill Trigger M in the first two slots, and a nature that does Main skill chance UP without Speed of help down. This type of Eevee will be very strong almost no matter which Eeveelution you go for.
If you then consider the volume of Eevee candy you will be getting, I would limit it to 1-2 Eeveelutions for a good while, since you can fuel all that candy into a single or two really good Pokémon.
Glaceon and Flareon are really powerful Eeveelutions, and they do quite well even at Main Skill Lv. 4 or even 3, so it's not critical to get Skill Level Up M, which can be helpful to boost that main skill.
Vaporeon is another Eeveelution that can be quite useful, and Espeon is strong on Lakeside. So across these four mentioned Eeveelutions you have one that is favored each by the later islands! (Vaporeon at Cyan Beach, Flareon at Taupe Hollow, Glaceon at Snowdrop and Espeon at Lakeside).
Overall I would say Glaceon and Vaporeon are some of the strongest Eeveelutions, especially if you have unlocked Slowpoke Tails. But neither of these 4 are bad!
I have made a video on Vaporeon that comes out a little later today that you could consider watching if you would like to learn some more!

@@nirtheart It sure was, thanks for the detailed advice !
PR 90 means 90% as productive as the « perfect » eevee… but I agree with you that the calculator is not necessarily right every time since it favors berry specialists and the obtention of good sub skills early
I personally use it only when I need to go in details about a Pokémon who I know is already good

@16:07 Helping Speed buff/debuff from Natures is 10% now. IIRC the game launched with 20% buff/debuff on Helping Speed Natures, but there was an adjustment a few months back that lowered it to 10%. Main Skill Chance from Nature is still +-20% though. My Gardevoir has a Calm (Skill+/Speed-) Nature, Skill Trigger M and S at level 10 and 25. Am I a little sad that Calm has Speed down? Yes. Is this Gardevoir already super good despite the Speed down Nature? Absolutely.

    • @nirtheart
      @nirtheart  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yeah those natures that pull in two directions can be a little hard to evaluate sometimes. I do remember there being some balance changes, I mostly just remembered the Energy Recovery effects. Will have to read up on those numbers again thanks to you! Appreciate your input!!
Also congrats on the Gardevoir, it's overall an S-tier Pokémon so even if it's got a few dings here and there it should be a real force on the team either way

Nice, very helpful! I actually got Ralts, Dratini and Stufful during the introduction event for Lapis Lakeside. I will have to take a look at the Ralts and see what's up. My guess it's not the best since it's the first one. But Igglybuff with the Sub Skills mentioned is definitely high on my to do list since I'm here in GG. Will probably stay here a few more weeks even after I unlock LL. I have to be more prepared especially for when Entei arrives.

Yeah slow and steady is the way. I'd say building up the area bonus on earlier areas and zooming in on particular species of Pokémon and hunting them over and over again is a great strategy. Especially Cyan Beach nap sessions can be quite powerful if you watch my Berry Basics video, because you find Igglybuff, Totodile, Spheal all in the nap session!

thanks for this video its a great synopsis of a lot of complicated information! i know im quite late to the video but in case youre still responding to comments, i was wondering if you had any more information about the pros and cons of napping? im new to the game and have read a lot of conflicting opinions on whether its best to nap or just sleep once, but your mention of napping as a reliable way to catch igglybuff in this video has me really curious. if you have any videos on the subject or any other resources i would love to take a look, or just any wisdom you can give through the comment box -- thanks again!

Whether or not to nap is a complicated topic and a few key points are:
      1. Certain events only give rewards for first session (naps bad) like we saw with Raikou and Entei
      2. Naps take away from the Drowsy Power of the main session, and if you have low DP (Drowsy Power) then you may not be able to get as many encounters as possible (max is 8, +1 if Incense and +1 if GCT (Good Camp Ticket)). In most cases if you make it to Master Rank with Snorlax then a short nap is not a problem.
      3. Nap sessions can be helpful if you are looking for Slumbering type Pokémon because you can just lay your phone or ++ (Pokémon GO Plus+) on a flat and undisturbed surface for 2h20m. Usually it's not ideal to nap longer than 2.5 hours.
      4. If you have ++ then you can set an alarm for yourself every 15 minutes and slightly disturb the ++ to force snoozing naps. I haven't personally figured out Dozing yet, but that's going to be solved sometime too.
      5. If you have very high DP then you have a lot to gain from naps since you get disproportionally more encounters + candy compared to the marginally bigger main session

    • @nirtheart
      @nirtheart  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Slumbering naps on Cyan Beach is particularly strong since you find Igglybuff, Totodile and Spheal, which are some of the best Pokémon in the game

@@nirtheart thank you so much for the thoughtful reply this is great! I'm very new so it sounds like napping will be less worth it for me

I just started and got an Eevee gentle (+hab - energy rec) and the first 2 subskills are Berry finder and bonus exp during sleep (both gold). I think it's amazing, but should I evolve it to Sylveon or something else? Thanks!

    • @nirtheart

The Healer is the most important Pokémon in your collection. I would look for Pawmi or Ralts with Main skill chance up nature and some skill related sub skills:
      Skill Trigger S
      Skill Trigger M
You may also benefit from Inventory or Helping Speed M or Helping Bonus, but skill triggers is the main focus.

Can you use a Apple Watch to run the sleep part of the game so you don’t have to have your phone on the bed
