That's why in later-taped episodes, they replaced it with the REAL Showcase Showdown. But what REALLY killed the show was its competition with other game shows. And also, keep in mind that the Simpson trial preempted this in some stations, too.
Thanks for this episode of Doug's PIR, in 1994, this wasn't on in the Ames/Des Moines, IA area, you upload more episodes and I'll be your friend for life, this is excellent!
Well, that's the only part of this version of TPIR I don't like, aside from The Price WAS Right (they used TPWR in earlier-taped episodes, then switched to the Big Wheel; it would've been better to just have the top 2 winners compete in the Showcase, like in the old 1/2-hour formats). I just don't understand why they used small prizes instead of grocery items, and used the higher/lower format instead of the which-number-is-right format in Plinko.
Even though I think Doug Davidson did a good job hosting, the only reason I didn't like this version of TPIR very much is because the Grocery product games, such as Grand game and Hole in One used small prizes instead of grocery items. I thought that was really lame, but that's just my opinion.
That saxophone remake of the theme song is simply wretched...

WCYB (Tri-Cities, Tennessee), actually.
The Price "was" right segment is what really killed the show. No TPIR is good without a showcase showdown.
Plenty of 'em. Matter of fact, I've got another one on the priority list.

Hate to sound like a typical YT commenter, but do you have anymore TNPIR 94?
