I did what was shown in this video with the exact same box and the exact same weather seal. There is not enough tolerance between the lid and the box for all four latches to snap closed. You can see starting at 4:30 that he only latches one side of the lid, and as he picks up the box, you can hear the other two latches on the other side flop around.
These storage trunks all used to have big o-rings installed on them(that's why they have the groove is there). The first two trunks i bought a few years ago had the o-rings but the third i bought a little later didn't. When i called Plano to complain they said they are not including the o-rings any more despite the price remaining the same. They told me that they would sell me one as an accessory. So basically Plano wanted to cut their costs by quietly eliminating the o-ring to increase their profit.
I got a smaller plano box for my flasher and extra batteries. It cracked fist time using it bouncing in my jet sled. I duct taped it o hell and back and still use it.
I'm in Alabama, and you'll need to bring that puppy out of the sun when possible. It'll start getting brittle in a couple years. Unless you're ok replacing it every so often

What you've been looking for the PU Chemical for your this waterproof junction box gasket foam with Waterproof and fireproofing function, should be here th-cam.com/video/ds2ih8MVMVM/w-d-xo.html
Good video, but it is lacking in some areas. Suggesting you hold up the product to the camera longer & let everyone see the part #, so we can read it. Also for units like this, show us all four latches secured. Manufacturer's product # & dimensions stated on your video, would be nice. I realize you've given us the links, but it is helpful.
It’s all linked in description. It’s the exact product. I know someone complained about me not latching it on the other side. It fits. You are taking up space that’s not meant to be filled to it will be a much tighter fit. You have to kind of push down the cover to them to snap into place. Its been working great for me. If it doesn’t for you, you can always take a Dremel to the latch to make it latch easier (widening the gap). Go wild, Use your imagination like I did 👍🏻
Awesome 👌 I just got one on sale at home depot for $34. & my first thought was "let me check who has waterproofed one of these " thanks ! 👍
Right on bub! Going to weather proof our Plano boxes the same way after watching this. Thanks for sharing.

I can latch all 4 no problem. It’s tight but it fits. Used it all fall.

I have a few of these. They have never leaked .. seal is a waste of time
Hi, what temperature range can this plano endure?
Is it weather resistant or proof? Obviously not submerge in water but after a heavy rain storm should hold up?
Oh yeah! Hasn’t leaked on me yet

What about using backingrod?
I have several.. none of them leak, even with no seal
Looking at their 56-Quarts to make into side bicycle panniers.
Would you buy this tote again or have you found something different
I’ve got like 3 of them. They are nice
Hi, can this survive in texas sunshine 100 degrees outside and keep the contents inside safe?

There is absolutely nothing I would trust in the texas sun. Period. Keep it covered at minimum.
Good video.

Tried this. Not water proof, but better than stock.
Easy to add a rubber seal to make water proof, I've done 4 of the 108's and 1 56'er. I use a 3/8th D shaped rubber seal.
Yeah probably won't make it 100% water proof but good enough if you don't submerge it.
Had a two pack that size and one size smaller for under 50 bucks at Sam club
40$ at sam's for the 108 and the 68 I picked up 2 sets earlier this week. Can't beat that deal for the better quality boxs
@@Random-ed2xf Sam's....2 for 39
Looks like they changed the design. The channel around the lid no longer exists. :-(
