Dougal's intent was clear, he wanted a Jacobite uprising, Jamie was a means to an end but why Ned Gowan supported Dougal I never understood. Never betray your laird. It was Willie who told Colum about the gold raised for the riot. The Laird wished to avert any harm from Clan McKenzie and remain politically neutral, and then Jamie, who married a Sassenach who caused a lot of trouble by not staying put and falling into BJR hands.. Not a good day for Colum.
@@GalwayGirl1 Great analysis Galway, I also wondered why Ned supported Dougal, only Diana could answer that one! and I was surprised that it was Willie who told Colum about the gold, but thinking about it it couldn’t have been anyone else really, not a good day all round you could say! 🥴 I’m using this emoji as it is the one that Sam impersonated, not sure if it was intensional but it fits the bill! 😁
@GalwayGirl1 not necessarily anything to do with supporting Dougal. At that time a lot of people supported the return of the Stuarts, in Scotland and Ireland, but also plenty of people in England. Though as it transpired, no where near enough when it came down to life or death.
