Horror is a genre I've barely explored, mostly because I'm a huge wuss. Typically my TV Show viewings consist of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Worst Witch. This year I decided to expand my TV show knowledge and try and watch these horror TV Show fan favourites.

My fav episode, a great piece of writing by Jane.
Congrats on thinking that it is BuffyBot in the final scene - I do, but most reactors jump to the conculsion that it is Buffy pretending to be BuffyBot. I also think it is the best way to view the scene and have the same surprise that Spike gets.
Because SMG is so good, there are differences between BuffyBot and Buffy pretending to be BuffyBot.

Jane is one of m favorite Buffyverse writers. She is so good at effortlessly balancing comedy with poignant drama.

Always fascinated when people think it's the Buffybot in that final scene; absolutely no sense in thinking that Willow would have been allowed to 'fix' the Bot. I was focussed in on the emotion of the scene and what Buffy was trying to achieve. Definitely not a Spike/Buffy shipper, but those final moments were so powerful, and incredibly written and acted. kerk

I saw many comments under episodes like this one or Who Are You (4x16) wondering how could the Scoobies not realize Buffy not being Buffy, and kinda questioning the strength of their relations. My take is that it's precisely because they have strong bonds and are really close to each other that they can't see it.
For all the supernatural things that happen to them on a regular basis, and the possibility to them to figure it out if it concerns somebody oustide of the core 4, they just can't (or don't want to) imagine this kind of thing could happen to one of them, especially not Buffy (but it's also true, on a smaller scale for Xander in The Replacement - though here it was really him, just a more confident version - and Willow in Doppelgangland - though the vampire quickly revealed herself)

The Buffybot in Intervention lends for some great comedy moments, but the serious side is Spike's obsession with Buffy reaching crazy and dangerous levels. Interesting that Spike did not tell Glory who the Key was, even though he is soulless he seems to be changing, his feelings seem genuine, of course because of the chip he cannot attack humans, but nevertheless things seems very different. The kiss from Buffy is so telling. A pivotal moment in the show.

"Weird love is better than no love", the basis for the Buffy/Dawn relationship and the spur for a million dodgy slashfics.

    SPOILERS FOR CANON COMICS
This episode is a prime example of the theory about the soulless caring, but in the end still serving selfish emotions even when doing good things. Spike's reaction to being alone after Dawn outed his feelings to Buffy (and the group) before turning her back on him due to peer pressure, is to go to Warren for the Buffybot. In the end Spike didn't intend for anything to be creepy, but it came off that way and even though he does some good at the end in not giving Dawn away, he was still doing everything more to spite a god who kidnapped him, but cannot himself comprehend that because the demon has memories of William and doesn't acknowledge the twisted way William's memories now are through the demon. This storyline is played out more directly in the _After the Fall_ canon AtS comics. When Gunn becomes a vampire, he thinks he is still good and must have a soul because he still wants to kill other vampires. It isn't until he faces Angel at the end of the run, he realizes it has all been to get to Angel who at the time was human and Gunn didn't care and tried to kill anyway. Both Spike and Gunn can do good and convince themselves they are, but at the end of the day, they are still soulless. Their emotions and motivations are always twisted even when they do good things. Oddly, the show, in some ways makes the soulless more human that way.

He was sick for part of the shoot, Kelly Donovan substituted for him in only a couple of scenes. All the scenes with heavy dialogue were still Nicholas.

Why does everyone love that line coming from Tara? Seems so clearly an Anya line that they gave to AB so that Tara would have a line in that scene. kerk

It really didn't make sense that they couldn't tell that the robot wasn't Buffy especially since Tara at least can see people's auras or souls or whatever.

Tara never interacts with robot Buffy in that episode though.
