I’m pregnant with my third baby and you definitely learn that less is more as you go with your first baby. A mom’s intuition is your best tool and it will guide you on what you need as time goes on. Too much information from outside sources (social media) can definitely cloud your mama intuition and make you feel overwhelmed. It totally comes in handy when you are looking for the answers but, sometimes not as helpful when you weren’t even looking for it in the first place. You’ve got this. 👍🏼

Michelle, have you thought about putting a clothes line out in the backyard? In the warmer months, I hang my linens out on the line to dry, and then pop them in the dryer for just about 10 minutes to get them soft. It’s also a huge energy saver.

For me, especially being low income, I've been buying second hand items and hand me downs from friends in order to get everything that we need for our first baby. I'm not worried about a theme for my nursery..but hey, if you have the funds, then go right ahead! There is nothing wrong with second hand items plus you're helping out the environment and cutting down on consumerism.

My first baby is due in about two weeks and hearing your perspective on baby things was so calming/reassuring. It’s so easy to feel overwhelmed with all the baby products 🩵

Best is to hang sheets outside on a laundry line fully open and they dry without creases. As long its not humid and raining

Saved that book for when i get pregnant! I'm sure that social media can make anyone feel overwhelmed and that they need to buy so many different things. I'm glad that you point that out Michelle. Appreciate your message of not having to buy things that we don't need ❤

Use a lot of wool dryer balls for the bedding, I do one extra “spin” in the wash, and one and a half rounds of drying with extra wool dryer balls!

I always air dry my sheets, I think it makes them feel even more fresh and clean! ☺️

Dryer hack...Place a large dry towel in the drum with the duvet cover. The mix of fabrics is key and the dry towel helps to pull the moisture from the wet duvet so it dry"s faster. Also, dryer balls can help to separate your laundry and allow air to circulate in the dryer.

    • @SusieQZee
      @SusieQZee ปีที่แล้ว

Yes! I use some dry hand towels and tennis balls.

Less is deff more!! Also, as a personal family custom we didn’t buy anything other than a few clothes diapers and a bassinet until after the baby was born
Honestly it was wonderful I was able to get what I needed as we went and as we got to know what our child needed
Helps with keeping the house clutter free and organized too!

  • @SusieQZee

When I had a guest room, I always asked the to strip the bed and pillows and just leave the linens on top of the bed. They like to be helpful- and that was a great way!

Yes! I’m 33 weeks pregnant with our first baby and the further I get in my pregnancy the more chill I get about the stuff I actually need. Your baby needs you, sleep, food, and love. All the other stuff is nice especially when gifted but I’m already noticing things I’ll probably not want to keep! You’re gonna be a great mama!

I like using wool dryer balls for my bedding. Just pop a few in the dryer. They separate everything to get more air through. I have sensitive skin and they don’t cause me any issues. There’s more benefits. But those are the reasons I like them. I get the ones from Target.

In Europe most of us don’t have dryers (and I live in Ireland where it rains alllll the time, I don’t understand why they are not a thing here!) So if you feel inefficient doing laundry just think of us hehe 😅
PS happy weekend & great video! 😊

  • @kimwood6632

Wool dryer balls help with drying time. You can also put a couple drops of essential oil on them instead of fabric softener/sheets if you like a "scent". Then with your business, set up a S Corp or LLC and then you're the owner and set yourself as the employee. Your taxes will be done as the business and your personal taxes separately, then you'll get Social Secur, FICA etc. Taken out and have the unemployment benefits if for some reason the business doesn't go as planned.

Ahhh this broke back so many memories of when we were expecting our first baby! I couldn’t wait until a baby shower in my THIRD TRIMESTER to put everything together - why are baby showers always so late in pregnancy?!??? So we ended up getting most of the stuff on our own, with our own money, so that I had it all set up and ready before I was even 36 weeks! It’s a common stress for first time moms to wait that long. Due in September with our second and I am much more relaxed and fine waiting to get ready until 36 weeks. You’re doing great!

For baby stuff, get your essentials settled before baby arrives (including some bottles and formula just in case.) But then wait and see what kinds of lifestyle you're living with baby and what would enhance it. What you love and appreciate will likely be different to other Mamas. My son is almost 2, born in Nov. Some of the things we loved were the Slumberpod, a pack n play with fold down side as a bedside basinette, Carters bear suit fuzzy coat for winter, travel folding basinette, Burts Bees baby booties. Did you know that baby clothing lines are just as bad with sizing differences as adult clothes? Some suit tall, thinner babies, some suit short, rounder babies. Until yours is here, you won't know. I always found it easier to stick to 1 brand of clothing and just put stuff in dressers rather than hanging. Don't feel like you need to buy all the stuff, but if you find that purchasing something would truly improve your life or mental health don't let any minimalism urge hold you back.

No book, no blogger, no special item is going to prepare you for your baby.😂 And that's not a bad thing!! Hold everything loosely, that's my best advice. Plans, items, time, just let it all go if it goes differently as planned. Your baby will be yours and unique in every way, and he may not even take to the best of the best baby items and instead want the second hand toy or whatever. That's okay. Let it all go.
Also as a fellow type A person I can confidently say that your baby will not give a crap about your time tables and what you want to get done. Enjoy it now, and enjoy the baby later. ❤️

You could ask 100 moms what are must have items and you would probably get 100 different answers. My babe is 4 months and I’ve learned having a small group of people I ask for input has made the whole process less overwhelming.
Baby really just needs mama and daddy and a few helpful items!
