För att göra hån av fransmännen skrev britterna om texten till att beskriva de som grodor (vilket var ett vanligt skällsord för fransmän). På något sätt kom detta sedan till Sverige nån gång mot slutet av 1800-talet. Med andra ord förlöjligar vi fransmän varje midsommar.
