I learned about Albert Lee after watching George Harrison's Tribute after his death that Olivia Harrison/Eric Clapton put on. After watching Albert play I looked him up and discovered he played with the Crickets- Everly Bros and so many others. He is known as Mr. Telecaster. Has a great voice ~
Thank you for your comment, glad you enjoyed it. I treasure the memories of theses concerts, and of meeting Albert and the band after EVERY performance. They are extremely generous with their time, I highly recommend seeing them if you can!
Thank you for taking the time to comment, I appreciate your interest. There will be precious little opportunity to capture these superb performances in the future, but watch this space! :D
Thanks for your comment. Yes, I was only using a point-and-shoot camera with the built in mic, holding it on my lap to avoid being told to stop! I think this is the last gig I attended, so it’s quite precious anyway... Albert doesn’t tour with this band anymore, and sadly he hasn’t been in Ireland for a few years now.
Thanks for you comment, John. Many players use that technique when it’s easier, or when a full barred chord is unnecessary or not desired. Also, when playing with a bass player, although playing the root note of the chord usually isn’t needed, the root note on the guitar is an octave (or 2) higher, or perhaps the bass player is playing some other note than the root. Chord voicings can sound more open using the thumb, especially when the 5th sting note is not being played. I hope that makes sense?

A pro's version of a pro's song..... Understated, with great feel and perfect....This is great - thank you for posting these great clips.
No one but Albert should play Georges stuff .Respect.
Only people George loved, which included Mr. Lee:)

Har sett många artister i Sverige, men när Albert Lee och Hoogans Heroes var i Säffle slår alla rekord. Det bästa jag sett live.
The man
Miss Roy Orbison on all the subsequent versions of this but Albert did it well.
Thanks for your comment Mike, it's much appreciated. I miss the Orb too when I hear this song :)
@@JackFeelsNerves I went to one of Albert's gigs on Mon 2 March at a very small theatre in Bristol. Needless to say he was ace as always.
@@epipick Ah, great to know he's on tour again. It's been quite a while since we've seen him her in Northern Ireland!
This is a great version of an incredible song. Unfortunately the recording didn't pick up Albert's voice as well as it could have.

Interesting how he uses his left hand thumb to fret the notes.
Thanks for you comment, John.
