The first time I completed Mass Effect 2, the only survivors were Grunt and Miranda. I had thought you could only save two members of the team... when I found out you could save more? I had a breakdown, I really liked Tali and Garrus, thought you could save all but two before that, so I brought Grunt and Miranda as they were the 2 I liked the least. I love them both now, and everyone else, but I still feel awful about it.

I managed this ending on my first playthrough. Thankfully I'm a completionist and had all required upgrades and all team members on loyal. When I went into that mission I knew I was as prepared as you can be, but it was still extremely tough since a friend who had played before me had lost several team members and I didn't know what exactly affected the outcome. I send Legion into the vents. He and Tali were the obvious choices and I just had less attachment to him than to Tali (sorry Legion, but I knew her longer) Garrus was my secondary team leader. He obviously has the experience and I was a bit afraid that Jack's beef with Miranda might cause trouble. Samara was on obvious choice as biotic Garrus once again led the second team. For the escort mission I chose Jacob. Jacob is a very "pragmatic paragon" type of character and an experienced soldier, so I knew I could count on him to put maximal effort into protecting them. Then I took Miranda and Thane into the final confrontation and left the rest to hold the door. And then, just when I was at the core and extremely relieved that I didn't see anyone die, SHEPARD FREAKING REPRIMANDS THE ILLUSIVE MAN THAT PEOPLE DIED TO ACCOMPLISH THE MISSION! And in that ending cutscene I can't spot several crewmembers. Did someone die after all? So I anxiously sit through the credits (you can't just skip them in a game like this) and hope that everyone made it out alive. And man I'm glad when it turns out that line was meaningless. And it turned out we even saved those two awesome Scottish engineers that I had somehow grown incredibly attached to. Seriously, I was more worried about those two and Kelly than about some of my team.
I did the exact same, but with Tali going through the vents, and Garrus and Tali going into the final boss with me. It's rather easy to let everyone survive if you know the characters and have them loyal! :)
You haven't played finish the game before launching the mission, you have to earn most of their loyalty to have the good ending. If you rush in the game you get bad grades pretty much. The thing I hate even though I had the good ending is that most of the normal crew members died except for the doctor, which even though I dont give a shit about them, I only found out you could've arrived sooner to save them. This annoyed me because I didn't want to save them immediately and I was still in the middle of earning loyalty when the abduction happened. I decided to stay and get prepared, as it turns out, i still think is the better option. Oh and if someone dies in your ship when you are on board is because you haven't upgraded your ship, which is another stupid thing which they haven't really outlined that is important to the mission. I almost did the same mistake.

@@PerfectAlibi1 problem is a lot of the maps and areas are recycled... I couldn't be bothered to slowly plan and place out attacks and it was a lot faster just to go in guns and shotguns blazing in. This made vanguard pretty epic with charge in me2 and 3 but higher difficulties enemies have way too thick shields and barriers especially with the starting shotgun. I respeced to infiltrator in those games

I'd personally switch garrus and miranda as jack complains about miranda being the first team leader so she'd be happy and for the boss team i took the weakest squad members , tali and legion , so that the group holding the line would be stronger , that's just my personal strategy tho
I did mines different than this one. 1st Team Leader: Garrus. Tech Escort: Tali. 2nd Team Leader: Miranda. Save the crew escort: Mordin. Biotic Shield Escort: Samara. Boss team: Garrus and Tali. Everyone lives.
Best defense to keep everyone alive, leave Garrus, Zeead and Grunt behind to cover everyone. But if anything, mostly Grunt and Zeead to handle it. Samara to deal with the shield for the walk. Legion, Kasumi, or Tali for security task. And Mordin to escort the surviving crew back to the ship. Best way to save everyone. And be sure you did everyone's loyalty mission.

Man I just beat this. Awesome game but mad because mordin DIED! Full loyalty on everyone and ship fully upgraded. Damn Salarians from the first game kept saying hold the line, so I had him HOLD THE LINE since I figured Grunt would be a better guide to get the survivors back to the Normandy. Every time, and I mean every time I do this mission I always get nervous because I don't know if I messed up something. Even when I have everything ready so I can let everyone live I get my spine shivering. This mission is easily one of the most intense moments in gaming.
I had no idea people could survive in the last I last all my crew and only 3 made it out...I grew so attached to the team of shepards crew and started to cry when it hit the end thanks for making this vid to show how to make the team survive I gotta replay that mission and save them all.....u sir deserve a new subscriber :D
When I first played this I had no idea what to do and didn't realize that the ship upgrades mattered, so I lost two crew members on the first cutscene. The ultimate slap in the face was when Garrus died, my favorite character in the whole game, naturally I started over to get a better ending.
Shepard: Oh no! the reapers are coming in less than a day! mmm.. I still have time to wipe out the collectors, shoot some mercs, get some.... *list goes on*
1- that was because she wasnt loyalty 2- poor kelly, she was who feed the fish while i was on missions. my because also lost her because he started to dp secundary mission after the crew was kidnapped
For some reason the vents caused my Tali to die, and I couldn't figure out the problem. So I had to redo the mission over and over to try and save her, into I figured out I had to have her on my party (so I taught) so I had to think who I should of gone in her place... End up picking Jacob cause everyone else said he was useless in ME3.
Always pick Legion to go into the vents. He survives each and every time. He is not organic so he is conditioned to survive the elements in the vents. Just make sure he is loyal.
@@Kashinaii Yeah she is super loyal! (Her quest was a bit depressing with out they treated her) but the problem is that at the start of the suicide mission you gotta just run because your on a secret timer. If the time runs out Tali/Legion whom ever will take a rocket to the face.
Mordin dies SUPER easily. It's not exactly clear why. You propably made some small mistake somewhere along the way. The safest way isto have a loyal Mordin escort the crew.
You probably took two of Garrus, Grunt, or Zaeed with you into the final battle. Those three guys are the best "holding ground" members of your squad, and removing two of them from the ground team during the final battle puts the squad members on the ground at great risk. If everyone is loyal (or not loyal, in which case you probably have a depleted squad at this point), it just so happens that Mordin is the first to fall if you leave him in the ground team during the final battle. What you do with Mordin ultimately doesn't matter, however, if the collective defensive power of your ground team (which is affected by their loyalty) is strong enough, which probably means taking only one of the three fortresses with you into the final battle at most. That said, the four characters you should think about taking out of the ground team (through escort of the crew or final battle) are Mordin, Jack, Tali, and Kasumi. They're the weakest defensive characters and thus would negatively impact the ground team with their presences if you want a full surviving ground team. In the end, though, you have to hit on an unlucky string of bad decisions for the ground team to have any casualties, as I haven't had any yet even by accident.
I lost Garrus, Zaeed Jack and Legion trying to do this. Jack dies in space fight, Garrus was carried off by the swarm, Legion was hit by a rocket to the face and Zaeed was shot in the stomach. Sad thing is that Zaeed and Garrus were my favourites. Along with Mordin, but he survived.
what i did was 1 put garrus as the leader because hes a war veteran so hes used to these kind of situations 2 choose legion to go through the vents he geth so hes perfect 3 choose thane to escort your team mates back because he like to hide in the shadows so therefor hes perfect! 4 to take down the half human thing choose your best teammates i chose jack and legion (i love jack) and finally IGNORE MIRANDA... JUST IGNORE HER... I REPeat ignore her
for some reason, when i sent legion through the pipes, he died. Sad, but i barely knew him and he was just bolts to me... although... i don't know what i was thinking, i sent my crew to the ship without escort.... fuck.... well, i wouldn't call that bad for a first, blind playthrough.
Chad Young Because that dumb Bitch treats commander Shepard like a child. All I kept thinking when I heard her at the beginning of the game was "Why the hell won't she just shut up" and when she was talking about her genes and thinking she was perfect I just skipped the entire dialogue. She has to be the worst character in the entire squad.
The first time I did this mission a lost a few companions. I made sure from that day on, no companion in any Mass Effect game will ever die again. I obviously couldn’t stop Thane, Mordin, or Legion’s deaths in ME3, but I made sure no one else ever died again.
With all loyalty missions done, and all ship upgrades 1) Legion in the vents 2) Garrus leads second team 3) Unfortunately, Kelly and Gabby died, along with a few other crew members 4) Jacob took the crew survivors back 5) Samara created the field through the swarms 6) Miranda lead the next second team 7) I took Miranda and Garrus to the final boss 8) Everyone survived, except for some of the abducted crew (because I did a few missions after they were taken, as I didn't think it would matter)
do both Jack's and Miranda's loyalty missions and make sure you have enough Paragon/Renegade points for when they have their argument in Miranda's office
Complete both loyalty missions, then once you're back on the Normandy, Joker will warn you about a confrontation between the two. You can side with either, or if you have enough points, you can break it up and keep the loyalty of both. If you don't have enough points to break it up, you'll be forced to choose a side in their argument. You'll lose the loyalty of the one you don't side with, but if you go talk to them, you'll get another Paragon/Renegade check, with this one requiring less points than the confrontation. If you're able to choose the blue/red conversation option, you'll regain their loyalty. Otherwise, you're out of luck.
You know what's funny, before the mission i was thinking, you know I might as well get the ship upgrades don't see why not. Didn't realize how much it affected the outcome.
You can't have done any missions between opening the Omega 4 relay and going through it if you want to have the whole crew alive in the end. Legion's loyalty mission opens up right after installing the IFF so go talk to him right after you wake him up and do the mission.
Grunt, Zaeed, and Garrus each provide 4 points towards defense (3 if not loyal). Thane, Legion, Samara/Morinth, Miranda, and Jacob each provide 2 points (1 if not loyal). Mordin, Tali, Kasumi, and Jack each provide 1 point (0 if not loyal). Add up your total points, and divide that by the total of defenders. If the final total is 2 or more, nobody dies during the defense.
You mean the ones I mentioned in the description? Those are only the ones that I gave special assignments to, Jack, as well as every other possible companion, is still there, but I didn't use her for anything. If you want, she can be used as the biotic specialist.
I followed the plan exactly as stated and everyone survived. Jack was not loyal as I only had two choices between Miranda and Jack. But Jack survived. This was my second playthrough. I did Jack mission very last...before the heading into the collector ship. Originally 4 died: Miranda, Tali, Legion, Thane--Miranda was the only one not loyal. Doctor Chakwas she died. But with Mordin's escort all survived going back to the ship.
I put Tali in the vents, Jack against the seeker swarms, Garrus leading the team (he got shot instead of Miranda), and Grunt escorting the survivors, I still saved everyone
I figured it out and well it doesn't really matter for the upgrades like that. Just make sure you have the ship upgrades and make sure to pick your team right. Like when you pick your tech, I chose Legion and had Thane lead the other team but, when I re-did the mission I picked Jacob instead and well Legion didn't die on me. You just have to make the right team choices for the others not to die on you.
I know you need all ship upgrades but there are four character specific upgrades like -Grunts Krogan Shotgun -Jack's biotic boost -Legions geth sniper rifle and i cant remember the fourth but are those upgrades a necessary?
In my first playthrough not knowing anything about this mission i managed to keep everyone alive, i didn't even know that people could die in this mission. 1st team leader: Jacob Tech specialist: Legion My Squad: Thane and Samara 2nd team leader: Garrus Biotic specialist: Samara Crew Escort: Mordin My Squad: Grunt and Legion Final Battle Squad: Legion and Jack I had all the ship upgrades and everyone was loyal, i even resolved the arguments between Miranda-Jack and Legion-Tali and kept Zaeed loyal while also saving the workers using paragon points.
I remember I ended up having to download a DLC just to get enough Paragon points to get Miranda's loyalty back up since I sided with Jack during their argument. I was determined to not lose anyone.
How do you get Legion to survive as the tech expert.... I sent him in for that but, then when we were closing the door he got shot and died. He's the only one I lost during the mission. Seriously though, was it something I didn't upgrade? like I didn't get the shields and stuff for shepherd because I didn't know where to find them. The only other thing I could think of is the geth shields that I didn't upgrade.
On my playthrough, i have already beaten it so i am playing again and i accidnetally chose to put it on the burner for now with Garus. Is there a way i can still gain his loyalty or is that the only chance i get?
13:37 to 13:45- such a swell of pride. The only times I left Garrus and Tali off my team is when I was forced to or when I had Wrex with me. I love the hell out of those three.
@lordgluzman That depends on which phase you're on, if you're at the first phase (Where you choose an engineer to go through the vents) then no, you can't choose her if she's disloyal. If you're at the second phase (Where you choose a biotic to generate a shield), then you can pick her as leader even if she's not loyal.
I questions some things... (SPOILERS) 1. Is it possible for Morinth to hold the biotic barrier if she was chosen over Samara? 2. Is it possible for someone unloyal that is weak to survive the final segments (Miranda, Jacob, and Jack for example)? 3. What happens if some characters die loyal, what does it do to affect ME3? 4. What is the list of people that can die from what if you didn't upgrade the Normandy? 5. Is Samara considered weak or strong?

1. Yes. She is as strong as Samara 2. The best way to keep them survive is to not assign them to do anything. But they will die in ME3 3. You will not see them in ME3 4. Jack, Legion, Garrus/Thane ( And in that order. But most likely Thane will die first) 5. She is best use for barrier, loyal or not. If she is loyal then she will definitely survive when you give her the right task. If not just let her hold the line with strong teammates like Grunt, Garrus and Zaeed
When you have everyone loyalty and you are doing the vent part, Do you use a tech expert to go in the vent and have another tech with another group just like legion and jacob were trying to close the door? Reason the first 3 died was because you had no ship upgrades. As for the bees, my first run through grunt was carried away, but in my second no one was. If those first 3 didn't die your chances for everyone else to survive would have increased greatly. There are 3 ship upgrades you need. First is armor, Which you get from Jacob. Second is weapons, which you get from Garrus, and lastly is barriers, which you get from Tali.

I intentionally let Jack die. I felt like the final mission was so dangerous that it would be unrealistic and absurd if none of my squadmates died.

I had no idea people could survive in the last I last all my crew and only 3 made it out...I grew so attached to the team of shepards crew and started to cry when it hit the end thanks for making this vid to show how to make the team survive I gotta replay that mission and save them all.....u sir deserve a new subscriber :D

When I first played this I had no idea what to do and didn't realize that the ship upgrades mattered, so I lost two crew members on the first cutscene. The ultimate slap in the face was when Garrus died, my favorite character in the whole game, naturally I started over to get a better ending.
Shepard: Oh no! the reapers are coming in less than a day! mmm.. I still have time to wipe out the collectors, shoot some mercs, get some.... *list goes on*
I lost Legion, Tali, Thane, Zaeed and I know she isn't so important but I lost Kelly too... Shame on me! Shame! Why so many! F*ck! D:

But Tali was loyal, she even had her loyal clothes. I think it was because I choosed the wrong guy to lead the first team.

For some reason the vents caused my Tali to die, and I couldn't figure out the problem. So I had to redo the mission over and over to try and save her, into I figured out I had to have her on my party (so I taught) so I had to think who I should of gone in her place... End up picking Jacob cause everyone else said he was useless in ME3.
Always pick Legion to go into the vents. He survives each and every time. He is not organic so he is conditioned to survive the elements in the vents. Just make sure he is loyal.

The first time I beat the game, I used Kasumi in the vents and she survived fine

@@Kashinaii Yeah she is super loyal! (Her quest was a bit depressing with out they treated her) but the problem is that at the start of the suicide mission you gotta just run because your on a secret timer. If the time runs out Tali/Legion whom ever will take a rocket to the face.

I upgraded everything in the ship, got everyone loyal to me including zaeed and kasumi. At the very end, mordin was the only one dead, why ?
Mordin dies SUPER easily. It's not exactly clear why. You propably made some small mistake somewhere along the way. The safest way isto have a loyal Mordin escort the crew.
tali is also another one that dies, have mordin escort the crew and bring tali along
You probably took two of Garrus, Grunt, or Zaeed with you into the final battle. Those three guys are the best "holding ground" members of your squad, and removing two of them from the ground team during the final battle puts the squad members on the ground at great risk. If everyone is loyal (or not loyal, in which case you probably have a depleted squad at this point), it just so happens that Mordin is the first to fall if you leave him in the ground team during the final battle. What you do with Mordin ultimately doesn't matter, however, if the collective defensive power of your ground team (which is affected by their loyalty) is strong enough, which probably means taking only one of the three fortresses with you into the final battle at most. That said, the four characters you should think about taking out of the ground team (through escort of the crew or final battle) are Mordin, Jack, Tali, and Kasumi. They're the weakest defensive characters and thus would negatively impact the ground team with their presences if you want a full surviving ground team. In the end, though, you have to hit on an unlucky string of bad decisions for the ground team to have any casualties, as I haven't had any yet even by accident.
I lost Garrus, Zaeed Jack and Legion trying to do this. Jack dies in space fight, Garrus was carried off by the swarm, Legion was hit by a rocket to the face and Zaeed was shot in the stomach. Sad thing is that Zaeed and Garrus were my favourites. Along with Mordin, but he survived.
And that's how you make a good ending...
what i did was
1 put garrus as the leader because hes a war veteran so hes used to these kind of situations
2 choose legion to go through the vents he geth so hes perfect
3 choose thane to escort your team mates back because he like to hide in the shadows so therefor hes perfect!
4 to take down the half human thing choose your best teammates i chose jack and legion (i love jack)
and finally IGNORE MIRANDA... JUST IGNORE HER... I REPeat ignore her

Chad Young Because that dumb Bitch treats commander Shepard like a child. All I kept thinking when I heard her at the beginning of the game was "Why the hell won't she just shut up" and when she was talking about her genes and thinking she was perfect I just skipped the entire dialogue. She has to be the worst character in the entire squad.

The first time I did this mission a lost a few companions. I made sure from that day on, no companion in any Mass Effect game will ever die again. I obviously couldn’t stop Thane, Mordin, or Legion’s deaths in ME3, but I made sure no one else ever died again.

With all loyalty missions done, and all ship upgrades
1) Legion in the vents
2) Garrus leads second team
3) Unfortunately, Kelly and Gabby died, along with a few other crew members
4) Jacob took the crew survivors back
5) Samara created the field through the swarms
6) Miranda lead the next second team
7) I took Miranda and Garrus to the final boss
8) Everyone survived, except for some of the abducted crew (because I did a few missions after they were taken, as I didn't think it would matter)

I love Garrus as well. And that's the guy i trust the most, so my first reflex was to give him command of the second squad.
How do I gain both jack and Miranda's loyalty
for Miranda u go to illium and help with her sister
do both Jack's and Miranda's loyalty missions and make sure you have enough Paragon/Renegade points for when they have their argument in Miranda's office
Complete both loyalty missions, then once you're back on the Normandy, Joker will warn you about a confrontation between the two. You can side with either, or if you have enough points, you can break it up and keep the loyalty of both.
If you don't have enough points to break it up, you'll be forced to choose a side in their argument. You'll lose the loyalty of the one you don't side with, but if you go talk to them, you'll get another Paragon/Renegade check, with this one requiring less points than the confrontation. If you're able to choose the blue/red conversation option, you'll regain their loyalty. Otherwise, you're out of luck.
The way I usually work it is do Jack first and Miranda last that usually works for me.
do both missions and just make sure you have enough paragon/renegade
Quick query: Did you do Legion's loyalty mission? If not I reccomened doing so. It could highly impact ME3

Do his loyalty mission and let him go with you through the entire final mission. He should survive
You can't have done any missions between opening the Omega 4 relay and going through it if you want to have the whole crew alive in the end. Legion's loyalty mission opens up right after installing the IFF so go talk to him right after you wake him up and do the mission.
I kinda screwed up on zaeeds loyalty mission so if I make him survive until the human reaper and leave him on door defense will he survive?
I did this once and yes he can survive but, sometimes he doesnt, depends who else is holding the line

Grunt, Zaeed, and Garrus each provide 4 points towards defense (3 if not loyal).
Thane, Legion, Samara/Morinth, Miranda, and Jacob each provide 2 points (1 if not loyal).
Mordin, Tali, Kasumi, and Jack each provide 1 point (0 if not loyal).
Add up your total points, and divide that by the total of defenders. If the final total is 2 or more, nobody dies during the defense.
You mean the ones I mentioned in the description? Those are only the ones that I gave special assignments to, Jack, as well as every other possible companion, is still there, but I didn't use her for anything. If you want, she can be used as the biotic specialist.

Yup, after the crew gets captured, go straight to the Relay asap. But that is after everything is done.
There's honestly no excuse to not have samara hold the shield because jack has a chance to fuck up and drop it
I followed the plan exactly as stated and everyone survived. Jack was not loyal as I only had two choices between Miranda and Jack. But Jack survived. This was my second playthrough. I did Jack mission very last...before the heading into the collector ship. Originally 4 died: Miranda, Tali, Legion, Thane--Miranda was the only one not loyal. Doctor Chakwas she died. But with Mordin's escort all survived going back to the ship.
I put Tali in the vents, Jack against the seeker swarms, Garrus leading the team (he got shot instead of Miranda), and Grunt escorting the survivors, I still saved everyone
I figured it out and well it doesn't really matter for the upgrades like that. Just make sure you have the ship upgrades and make sure to pick your team right. Like when you pick your tech, I chose Legion and had Thane lead the other team but, when I re-did the mission I picked Jacob instead and well Legion didn't die on me. You just have to make the right team choices for the others not to die on you.
This happened to me sometimes, but I don't remember how to fix this... Do you have Zaeed?

I know you need all ship upgrades but there are four character specific upgrades like
-Grunts Krogan Shotgun
-Jack's biotic boost
-Legions geth sniper rifle
and i cant remember the fourth but are those upgrades a necessary?
When you play the third game you choose which save you want to import for your campaign to go off of.
In my first playthrough not knowing anything about this mission i managed to keep everyone alive, i didn't even know that people could die in this mission.

Tech specialist: Legion
My Squad: Thane and Samara
2nd team leader: Garrus
Biotic specialist: Samara
Crew Escort: Mordin
My Squad: Grunt and Legion
Final Battle Squad: Legion and Jack
I had all the ship upgrades and everyone was loyal, i even resolved the arguments between Miranda-Jack and Legion-Tali and kept Zaeed loyal while also saving the workers using paragon points.
Best trilogy ever! I never get bored with this game!
I remember I ended up having to download a DLC just to get enough Paragon points to get Miranda's loyalty back up since I sided with Jack during their argument. I was determined to not lose anyone.

How do you get Legion to survive as the tech expert.... I sent him in for that but, then when we were closing the door he got shot and died. He's the only one I lost during the mission.
Seriously though, was it something I didn't upgrade? like I didn't get the shields and stuff for shepherd because I didn't know where to find them. The only other thing I could think of is the geth shields that I didn't upgrade.
As soon as you have done both loyalty missions they will get in the fight, doesn't matter what order you do them

13:37 to 13:45- such a swell of pride. The only times I left Garrus and Tali off my team is when I was forced to or when I had Wrex with me. I love the hell out of those three.
@lordgluzman That depends on which phase you're on, if you're at the first phase (Where you choose an engineer to go through the vents) then no, you can't choose her if she's disloyal. If you're at the second phase (Where you choose a biotic to generate a shield), then you can pick her as leader even if she's not loyal.
Are endings only different because of the people you loose?Or there are actually different themed endings?

1. Yes. She is as strong as Samara
2. The best way to keep them survive is to not assign them to do anything. But they will die in ME3
3. You will not see them in ME3
4. Jack, Legion, Garrus/Thane ( And in that order. But most likely Thane will die first)
5. She is best use for barrier, loyal or not. If she is loyal then she will definitely survive when you give her the right task. If not just let her hold the line with strong teammates like Grunt, Garrus and Zaeed

When you have everyone loyalty and you are doing the vent part, Do you use a tech expert to go in the vent and have another tech with another group just like legion and jacob were trying to close the door? Because I had mordin and completed the loyalty mission and died. i'm trying to figure out what i did wrong....

For the last boss fight depending on who you pick 1st or 2nd which teamate get's saved by shepard and who get's crush by the bolder at the end?

I lost Thane the first time I played - with him being an assassin, I overestimated his ability to break into places and sent him into the vents.
Reason the first 3 died was because you had no ship upgrades. As for the bees, my first run through grunt was carried away, but in my second no one was. If those first 3 didn't die your chances for everyone else to survive would have increased greatly. There are 3 ship upgrades you need. First is armor, Which you get from Jacob. Second is weapons, which you get from Garrus, and lastly is barriers, which you get from Tali.
I lost all team members and continued into the next game
