You can't cover a ecu with plastic it attracts moisture a ecu only has to get slightly damp to kill it your be better off sealing the ecu case with instant gasket @@DougBrown6969
It's coming along great, one peice at a time, the transmission other than pull it out is JB weld, but you may want to drill a hole at the end of the crack so it doesn't spread any more, just a suggestion, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Drain fluid , grind a tiny v in crack and then clean grease off with brake clean wipe off then wait a few minutes for evaporation and then mi's up jb weld and wait a few days then refill fluid and drive it 😀
@@dougbarnes1681 Chief Chaddite wannabe @Alpeach, who reads dictionaries from cover to cover, should go over there and teach him a few new words. It might get him out of his lazy habit of calling everything a 'bad boy' as well. 🤣🤣
Nice work spotting that split in the transmission!! People dont look over their own cars enough. Most wouldn't have any clue, Hope your son is feeling better, He might wanna help you do some work on the cars too. Wish my Dad had taught me, and i had two girls that weren't interested. 😪😪
Drain the oil, rough up the case with some fine sandpaper. Spray it down nice and clean with brake cleaner and let dry. Then mix up a nice batch of JB Weld and spread a few thin layers over the whole area, length of the crack and let dry for a good 24 hours. And then you should be all set to refill the transmission with oil and go for a drive!!👍
Doug, other people are suggesting the same thing that I recommend which is JB Weld. Drain the trans and clean the fluid off the crack the best you can with brake cleaner and then patch it up. After it sets up put fluid back in it and make sure you use the correct fluid. I could be wrong but I don't believe they use dextron but you can look it up on the internet. I would also check for broken trans or motor mount just to make sure that did not cause it. I have seen cracked engine blocks fixed with JB Weld! Good luck to you Doug over & out!
i would go one further for longevity,clean/lightly grind some and clean again. that will really give that jb weld some teeth too grab on too for a much longer repair.
Doug, two part epoxy putty on the transmission case after you scuff the surface up a bit. I had a crack in a petrol tank that I used the epoxy putty on and it never leaked again.
Doug I am sure that your old buddy Nate would be only too happy to sort out that little problem for you. Nate is one of the most ingenious mechanics l have ever seen. @DougBrown6969 I know that you usually don't ask for help but sometimes you just have to or even just seek advice on the best way to do something. The more you learn the more you can do things for yourself and if you get the right advice or even a little bit of help from the right person who knows what they are doing then the next time you encounter such a problem you can do it yourself and do it right. I thoroughly enjoy every video you make because you keep it real and I KNOW that you are going to make a great success of your endeavours 👍👍👌
Hi Doug..... shame about the crack in the transmission..... as a temporary measure, you can grind a slight groove along the crack with a die grinder and then use a cast iron epoxy such as JB Weld to fill it... this will by no means be a permanent fix but will last quite a while and make her usable til you can do a proper fix...
If it’s not structural or under pressure maybe you can drain it, scrub it super clean and weld it or slap some JB weld or epoxy on it temporarily. Not much to lose there other than time and a few bucks.
JB weld will never stop that leak. There's no way you'll get it clean enough for the mythical "magic in a tube" to do anything but waste your time. Either replace the transmission case, or get it welded... Nothing else will work. Personally, replacing it is the right way. 37 years as a technician have proven to me that all these band aids are useless. But, do what you want, it's your car and your time!
I'm with everybody else on that dirty doug. Drain the fluid, clean the area and degrease it . And then get the JB Weld . It's inexpensive and if it works it works . That's absolutely what I would do.
Another great video enjoy your videos way more you have great humor , hopefully son be ok yous are great team be good to see him maybe in other videos he awesome little man
Like so many others have suggested....JB weld the transmission. And if there is a bigger issue it may present itself as you drive, from the picture it looks like a simple crack, maybe someone jacked up on it or its simply a cast flaw. Any way I would JB weld and drive on. Good luck and get well Jacks.
Hey dude, do you need to be working on your Saturn? I think we’re all like that. 11:31 Hey, can you JB weld but try some epoxy and try to rub it in that crack until you get a chance to buy a part to fix it 13:08

@brettemerich3237 I would use a die grinder to run along the crack to get a little valley to fill with the rod. Depending on how long the crack is it could be done without taking it out of the car. I've done it
