  • Maryvale, Arizona in 1961. From the John F. Long promotional film “the Homeowner”. In this scene, Buster Keaton goes to the Bowlero at the Maryvale Shopping City. Look for the cameo of John F. Long towards the end of the clip. His table is upset after the waiter falls down. If you like pictures of old-time Phoenix, please become a member of History Adventuring on Patreon. So glad someone saved this "industrial film" into the TH-cam Age.

While some comedians/actors would think it was beneth them to do an industrial films like "Maryvale, Arizona", Buster saw these films as a great opportunity to work out gags.

The narrator sounds an awful lot like Henry Fonda. If not, it is a Henry Fonda imitator. I know that he and Jimmy Stewart and other Hollywood actors invested in AZ real estate because they became familiar with the area during WW 2. I wonder if that financial interest is a link to this promo film.

That's so cool. Buster even did the insert shot of him writing the X on the score card. You can tell because Keaton doesn't have a full right index finger. The tip was cut off after a childhood accident.
