Ryan, based on your videos, I just ordered the Alpha Breeze via your affiliate link. I cannot wait for it to arrive! After a lifetime of camping from tent to popup camper to toy hauler to travel trailer...now that I'm older and a woman on my own, going full circle back to tent camping makes sense for me financially. I first fell in love with the aesthetic and history of Springbar tents, but I live in south Louisiana. Subtropical humidity and almost daily rain throughout the region make me think the challenge of keeping a huge canvas tent dry and mildew-free is more than I'm up for at this point. I found the Alpha Breeze via your videos and after doing lots of research, I think it is the perfect tent for me! I'm ready for a spacious and comfy "living room" look and feel, with height to stand up inside, plus the fresh light color is beautiful. Thank you for all your videos, they really are helping people who don't live anywhere near the retail showrooms to see these tents in person.
Congrats on the new Alpha breeze and thank you so much for all the kind words! I think it will be perfect for that climate you’re in. I appreciate you taking the time to write this, it really inspires us to keep creating more!
I decided to go ahead and get the Alpha Breeze based on your review. The quality of the materials is excellent. It’s my first non-backpacking tent so I’m a bit overwhelmed by the size, but my wife wanted a tent she could stand up in and she’s as pleased as can be. It’s a great size for the four of us.
That's awesome; glad you all are loving the tent! It was actually my first non-backpacking tent as well and it took a bit for me to adjust to it also. The other day I was going through some of our old backpacking gear and couldn't believe the size and weight of our old tent! Congrats on the new tent and hope you all have a great time out there!
This is easily the most comprehensive review of the Alpha Breeze tent. I would add that the duralumin tent poles are much heftier than tent poles you'll find on something like an REI Kingdom tent and this adds to the stability of the Alpha Breeze.
Awesome review video! I also own an Alpha Breeze and love it! But the way you combine and set up your furniture (also in your other videos), you make it 10 times more awesome and look more spacious! Please keep making great videos :)
Great video man, I appreciate the very throughout review ! You pretty much sold me on my next tent purchase, keep up the great work with the channel. Maybe in the future you can give some guidance on maintenance and cleaning of the tent!
Found your channel last week and love all your reviews and trips! Your channel is growing quickly, love to see it! Will be starting one soon as well, thanks for the motivation, looking forward to watching more of your content.
Nice videos… after watching a few of them we bought our own Alpha Breeze a couple months back and took it to an overnight stay at the beach. We love it everything about it.
Great review! All the details and personal experience you talked about were very helpful. My wife and I are buying this tent based on all the good reviews and your video. Thanks!
So, you bought a Springbar? I used to own a Traveller and spent many nights in it. I've been in campgrounds in high winds where every other tent blew down except my SB. Same with heavy rains, nary a drop. They're beautiful tents and stay warm/cool.
Yes, we ended going with the 8' by 10' Vagabond and can't wait to take it out! That's awesome to hear how capable these tents are, and that they stay warm/cool. We're going to be mainly using this one for all our upcoming trips to fully test it out, but I can already tell I'm going to like this one a lot. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Ryan! Again, great video! Thank you for sharing. I can't concentrate because I keep seeing how close you and the tent are to the cliff and I'm getting sweaty palms from it! 🙂 Aloha from Hawaii!
Hey, so I used Nikwax Tent and Gear SolarProof Wateroroofing Spray. If you have the space and the weather is good, I’d recommend just setting your tent up outside, clean it well, and spray the tent with the Nikwax in sections. Wait a couple minutes and then wipe any extra product off. The top of the tent will be hard to reach, just pull it down from the side of the tent until it’s reachable. Highly recommend using gloves and a respirator. For seam sealing, you should only have to apply it to the triangle vents and the cornered of the tent where the blue webbing is stitched to the fabric.
Man I love your videos! You sold me on the Alpha Breeze and your setup is fantastic. I’d love if you could make a gear video, or even better, a list of what you have. It seems like a majority are Snow Peak which is great since I have a Rivian EV truck on order and it includes an entire electric camp kitchen setup with a ton of Snow Peak cooking gear.
Thank you! I'll have some gear videos up here soon with gear lists in the video descriptions. That Rivian is going to be awesome! I really like how they integrated everything in the camp kitchen for that truck! Thanks for watching and the suggestions!
I’m going out this weekend for my first run with this tent. I bought the MRS Ground High stakes for that very same reason you mentioned. I’m hoping they’ll be a good fit. In regards to sun UV exposure, I’m a little surprised you had to treat it so soon. It should not take 4-5 days in the sun, maybe 2-3 months. Especially as it’s specs are much higher than almost any other competitor brand.
Nice, have fun out there! We took our Alpha Breeze out extensively over that summer with lots of rainy trips as well. In the fall, I noticed a couple sections of the tent where the water wasn't beading off as well as it used to, so that's when I decided to just re apply the coating.
@@rtmadani Ok, great info, thanks. I thought you mentioned you did it after just a 4-5 day trip in heavy sun. Our 3 day trip went well with the Breeze, we were extremely happy. Only thing I found was that the side windows didn't allow for as much airflow as the rainfly sits too close to the mesh if it is closed. With a bit of wind the rainfly was actually touching about 80% of the mesh window. Not sure if that would affect water resistance either? We used the velcro on the rainfly to tighten it to the frame in the middle X section, so even if we had used the extra guy lines we would not be able to pull that rainfly out further like you showed in this video as it's firmly connected to the frame and will not budge unless the velcro is loosened or not used. What I actually did was to unclip each middle side of the rain fly and pull it away from the tent and stake them independently. That worked very well that way.
@@jacobpetersen5662 Hey. glad to hear the trip went well! The rain fly does sit close to those side back windows, but on mine it doesn't ever touch (or at least I haven't noticed it yet). I am not sure if you already do these steps in your setup, but I am going to mention them anyway just in case. - Make sure to use all 6 of the velcro attachments on the rainfly. - Are you staking the webbing on all corners of tent outwards? (They twist easily and if staked inward, the rain fly may sit even closer on the sides) - Make sure to pull all the tabs tight after buckling. On mine, I haven't had any issues with water on any areas on the tent. I haven't every been out in a serious down poor, but have been out in prolonged periods of rain. I'm not sure if I actually used the velcro in that review video, so it probably looks like it pulls even further out. You're right though, with the velcro in place it should pull both the tent and the fly together, not just the fly like I showed.
Can you explain the seam seal that comes with the tent? Possibly do a video showing where you sealed. I am a 5 foot woman and need to know whether I need to bring a stool to stand on to seam seal this tent.
The seam sealant only needs to be applied to the vent sections and potentially the corners on the floor on the alpha breeze. I recommend checking out this TH-cam channel: theoutdoorgearreview. He has a great video demonstrating how to seam seal.
I received my alpha breeze a few days ago I haven't had time to build it yet! I'm not sure I understood if the two bars at the front to hold the doors open are provided with the tent in the box? Thank you for this very detailed video!
I just got an Alpha Breeze thanks to this video :) Wondering if you have thoughts on the mat and sheet set since you have been using them for a while. Are they worth getting separately?
Nice!! I do recommend the mat and sheet set and while the mat is a little bulky it definitely enhances the living space feel and provides insulation. Hope you enjoy the tent!
It could definitely work but just note that the peak height of 6’1” is only in the center. It tapers down along the back and slightly in the front. At 5’8” I have just enough head room to fully stand up and comfortably walk in and out of the tent. I’m positive you’ll have to duck your head in this tent, so if your looking for a tent you can comfortably walk inside/change clothes without your head rubbing the ceiling, then I’d look at something else. Thank you for watching, and let me know if you have any other questions!
Hey Ryan! I have a major crush on this tent, and I'm hoping it'll fit in the space we have available. I can see that the fly extends the tent's length to 14'9", but I can't see how much of that is at the front and how much is at the back. We regularly camp at a campground with 12'x12' platforms, and I'm ok with the back vestibule extending off the back of the platform, but I'd like the full front to fit. Any insights?
I'd say if you'r able to get the back extended off the deck or just rolled in If weather allows the Alpha breeze may fit. Hopefully that works out for you!
I'm still leaning towards the Alpha Breeze, but honestly I like them both for different reasons. Here are somethings to consider. Alpha Breeze: - Higher ceilings - More windows/doors - Better weather resistance Land Nest M: - Cozier inner tent that attaches with hooks to the fly. (good for setting up in weather!) - Covered front area that can be even more useable if opting for the solo inner tent - Can use as a shelter with the front and back open for venting. Depending on how many people you camp with could be something else to think about. The Alpha breeze has more space for more than 2 people. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Do you find the ivory color to make the inside too bright in full sun or early in the morning? The roof color/ apparent excessive light infiltration is the only thing holding me back... I personally like/need a dark(er) tent in the early morning to sleep in a bit lol...
Yes it’s definitely well lit in the morning hours. It’s well diffused light, but if your looking for something to sleep in a bit more go with a darker offering.
Hi Ryan, thanks for your video! can I know what kind of mat you use for the Alpha Breeze tent? cuz I notice there is no mat/sheet set specific made for Alpha Breeze on their website
Hey! For inside the tent, I’m using a queen size Pendleton Yakima Camp Blanket. For underneath the tent, I made my own groundsheet out of 6mil black plastic sheeting, cut slightly smaller than the tent itself. Snow Peak is supposed to be releasing one soon specific to the Alpha breeze, just not sure when they’ll actually have it. I hope this helps, thank you for watching!
The Atom LT has been great! I've had it for two years now and it's held up well. The Proton LT looks great too though and the fabric on the Proton LT should be more durable.
Thanks! I always use a footprint with it, which helps a lot. It usually doesn’t come back very dirty, but when it does I just go over the rain fly with a wet microfiber and leave it to fully dry. I recently built a rack to hang my tents over in my garage, which make cleaning them and drying much easier!
Hey Ryan,, really enjoy your videos! I’m thinking to buy a tarp and wanna ask your advice. I’m thinking about the Takibi Tarp Hexa in Ivory or Hexa Tarp for my Alpha Breeze. Takibi has the nice colour, but I worry it is easy to get dirty. Besides, are their design and materials the same?
Hey! So they're both 210D polyester. The Hexa Tarp M has a 3,000mm coating, whereas the Takibi Hexa has 1,800mm. They are identical in shape and size, but the Takibi will have extra loops to attach the inner roof. I was originally leaning towards the Takibi Tarp as well, but I changed my mind for a few reasons. One, I didn't want to deal with dodging all the smoke underneath the tarp. And the second reason, as you mentioned is clean up. I imagine the soot from the fire will build up and could be hard to clean. If you camp in the rain often and want to have an open fire underneath, then the Takibi Hexa may be a good choice. Personally, I'm thinking of adding a wood burning stove under my Hexa M Tarp for rainy weather.
@@rtmadani I mainly used the snow peak camp burner for cooking, so I think it wont be too much smoke underneath the tarp. But I found that the Takibi Hexa is more expensive even it’s coating is 1,800 mm only. I guess Hexa Tarp seems more worthy? (Without doubt, the ivory colour is so cool)
@@lee179hk Yeah it would be nice if Snow Peak would offer the Hexa Tarp in Ivory without the takibi inner roof for those who aren't planning on doing open fires underneath. You're basically paying over $200 for that takibi inner roof, so the value depends on whether or not you see your self using that liner.
Hey! Yes, it is definitely something to consider. I’m not actually sure what chemicals it contains, but the label wasn’t there when I purchased the tent. You can always reach out to Snow Peak to see what exactly the label is referring to. It may just be the waterproof coating on the rain fly. I definitely think all companies should try to avoid these chemicals, especially if they are known to cause harm.
So in this video I created my own tarp/footprint using black plastic sheeting cut slightly smaller than the tent. I've also recently purchased the Alpha Breeze Mat/Sheet set specifically for the Alpha breeze.
@@rtmadani Thank you! Yeah I wanna save money on the tarp lol. So when you cut it yourself, you can't really anchor the tent to the concerns of your tarp then?
@@woolengrappler It's slightly deeper than it is wide. Keep in mind though that the back, where the A frame design slopes down is more limiting in space.

Thank you! I think that would be an awesome addition to your truck set up! I checkout out your truck tiny home tour and really like how simple your build is! Looking forward to the solo over night beach trip! Thanks for watching!
@@rtmadani I appreciate the videos. I bought a brown White Duck 10' x 10' Prota Deluxe and a red Springbar Stormfly. Using a Nemo Roamer Double currently for sleep and your videos helped me decide on a Pendleton Bridger Stripe queen blanket to tie the color scheme together. I'm contemplating returning the Nemo (R value 6) for an Exped 10 or 15, (R value 8 and 10.6), but I'm concerned those may be too warm on hot Summer nights. Thoughts or experience camping on the Exped on hot humid Summer nights? Also, I appreciate the advice on the cooling sheets.
@@rtmadani The Roamer deflates almost instantly due to the three deflate valves. People say the Roamer valves wear out eventually and with three of them there's just more of them to go wrong. The Exped has a couple more pounds of foam and is much more comfy. Problem is that I traded in the Roamer on an Exped yesterday and the new Exped is defective. The top was not completely glued on the edge and a bubble is present when inflating. Think I'll go with a Hest Duo and be done with it. Much more bulky but a lot more worry free.

You can always reach out to Snow Peak to see what exactly the label is referring to. It may just be the waterproof coating on the rain fly. I definitely think all companies should try to avoid these chemicals, especially if they are known to cause harm.
Everything in CA is labeled prop 65. It really doesn’t mean anything. It’s the only state that are so strict.
May I ask you which size you got the tarp? Thanks!
You can still stake down the tarp if you put some brass grommets on the four corners and loop some rope through them.
do you use ground mat for this tent ?
Yes, I made my own out of 6 mil black plastic sheeting cut slightly smaller than the tent. It works great and keeps the tent cleaner.
What are the interior dimensions of the tent?
Hey, the floor dimensions are 9.1 x 8.4 ft and the peak height is 73 inches.
@@rtmadani is it wider than it is deep?
@@woolengrappler It's slightly deeper than it is wide. Keep in mind though that the back, where the A frame design slopes down is more limiting in space.
😍👍
Thank you!
Another awesome video man! Very good info. I haven't done much tent camping yet but it looks like you might have me sold on it! Me and my pup do tons of overland camping out of my f350. You'll have to check it out on my channel! Keep up with the awesome content man!
Thank you! I think that would be an awesome addition to your truck set up! I checkout out your truck tiny home tour and really like how simple your build is! Looking forward to the solo over night beach trip! Thanks for watching!
"Actually" 😆
Haha just rewatched it and lost count!
I don’t think the Exped’s will be too warm, at least we’ve never felt it to be. What are your thoughts on the roamer?
@@rtmadani The Roamer deflates almost instantly due to the three deflate valves. People say the Roamer valves wear out eventually and with three of them there's just more of them to go wrong. The Exped has a couple more pounds of foam and is much more comfy. Problem is that I traded in the Roamer on an Exped yesterday and the new Exped is defective. The top was not completely glued on the edge and a bubble is present when inflating. Think I'll go with a Hest Duo and be done with it. Much more bulky but a lot more worry free.
@@909jtscofield Wow had no idea there were 3 deflations valves on the Roamer. That's terrible that you received a defective Exped, our's has been holding up great so far. Let me know what you think of the Hest.
