This is a very well made video about such an obscure ghibli fact, I was shocked to see how low the view count was! I'm curious though if the Blu-ray release corrected the issue, seeing as TVs modernized and don't look different to theater screens
Maybe to satisfy everyone, they should create versions of the film one with the tint and one clear. Gibli gets has their revised color tone, and the public get there clearer toned movie. Kinda reminded me of the Star Wars special edition changes where George Lucas made changes, but people wanted the original versions, but the special edition are the movies that are still in print and stream to this day
Is there any explanation on why this type of mistake happened? Blue and Red values got reduced by 30% compared to original. No data compression format works like that.. Actually it wouldn't even reduce data, since the blue and green images were still at the same size (JPEG reduces the chroma image size, darkening wouldn't cause less storage-weight)
