    Hi, I'm thinking of getting a Sony system for my personal work (outdoorsy stuff) and the A7r seems the perfect choice. I need to know though, are you running into any softness from the sensor out resolving the lens ? I currently use Fuji XT5's and have sold off a lot of lenses that can't cope with the resolution. Now I just use - happily - the 28 1.4, 56 1.2 WR and 80 macro for most things. These lenses go well with the sensor. I have Canon R 5's for work, and had considered just sticking with that as they make good images, but Canon lenses are mostly heavy and clown sized compared to the Fuji's and there's not a good range of primes. Are you happy with all your lenses @ 61 MP ? Cheers for the video.

      Funny you should ask this right now!!
      I’ve just literally in the last few minutes bought a new camera and no i’m not selling the Rv. I’m a wedding photographer/videographer and in the business we own a lot of cameras. However people are saving money and going for just photography at the moment and In that case I only have the Rv and A7Siii available. So I need a new camera!!
      I was literally hovering over the buy button for another Rv, it’s THAT good! Why didn’t i buy it? Because I can’t justify that money to use a camera maybe 25% of the time and only for weddings. So I bought the a7iv.
      I’d happily use 2 A7Rv’s though, i love the camera. The quality is great, i’ve never encountered any softness.
      But, if you want to save some cash. Nothing wrong with the A7iv 🤷🏻‍♂️ we now own 2 😂

    If they came out with a 42mp version I would consider it but for me 61mp is way too many pixels for the weddings and events I cover. I tried the A7RIV and the size of the files had a major impact on the speed of my work flow. Hopefully not too long to wait for a A9MKIII as my MKI version is getting a little old. For me the biggest advancement in my 23 years other than moving from film to digital is silent shooting. Be it, during the bridal prep, the ceremony or at events with people talking to an audience, the silence of the A9 lets me get shots I could not get with my A7IV or A7RIII . For wildlife when cropping big can be a huge advantage, I get the 61mp. Nice to have a choice of cameras

    • @DannyBligh
      @DannyBligh  ปีที่แล้ว

      Question for you! Do you sometimes think “why can’t Sony just make a handful of cameras that all do a great job instead of bringing a new one out every month?” 🤨

    • @nickwilliams7867
      @nickwilliams7867 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DannyBligh I think they cover the low end and the content creators market well. I do question their lack of support for the Pro photographer. Just look at the lack of updates for the A1 and the A9, using a sensor from 2017 (it is a great one) . One area they are killing it is the lenses. Not only the superb GM's which just get sharper and lighter but also the third party support. I love my three GM lenses (35GM on its way as well) but my favourite lens of all time is my Sigma 85 f1.4 art. Not perfect, close focusing is poor and it's made from very soft metal but is so sharp. My Christmas wish list is a A9MKIII and a 85GM mkII.

    • @6gwilliams
      @6gwilliams ปีที่แล้ว

      Nickwilliams7867 you know the more recent Sony models including the 61mp A7RV allow you to choose medium and small size raw, and have long allowed medium and small size jpegs, so you can have the best of both worlds, ultimate resolution and detail when you want that 61mp, or smaller sized files for weddings and such. Cheers

    • @nickwilliams7867
      @nickwilliams7867 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@6gwilliams Yes I know this, my A7iv can also do this but the medium raw is 26MP with the RV I think and why would I do that when I have my A9 . The files are still much bigger due to limited compression options. For some people this camera is great but it's not for me. Im hope for a A9mkiii soon which will better suit my needs

    • @6gwilliams
      @6gwilliams ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nickwilliams7867 I currently have the A1, A7RV, A7SIII. I sold my A9 when I got the A1. Check out the Sonyrumors reports today about the possible A9III specs. For me the A7RV is perfect for many subjects, even better in resolution and detail than my A1, with many features the A1 does NOT have. But not for speed and real silent shooting with less rolling shutter, which is the area for the A1. But I know that, so I choose the camera that best fits the job. I wont be buying the A9III, but will wait for the second gen A1. Cheers and best to you.

    Ive had my A7R5 since day 1 of its release which is almost a year. Ive shot a combination of wildlife and portraits. Outdoors and studio. Ive also shot two short films on it...tentatively and am now about to embark on a wildlife film along with a book aided by some great advice from Danny. What people may want to think about is buying a A7R5 is never ever going to make you a better photographer, as that comes from a combination of what you have within , what you have learned and from gained experience. What it does give you is power and adaptability to get those shots you may have missed in the past. I love my A7R5 for its power in helping me to realise my ideas. Auto focus and having 61MP for wildlife and the ability to crop is huge. Birds in flight...no problem with the A7R5. Im not new to Sony having moved over from Canon in 2015 when I got my A7R2 which in its own way was a bit of a game changer, my previous camera being a 5Dmk2. Dont get caught up in kit thinking ...if I only had....use and get the most from what you have. This is where input from Danny is invaluable as he helps, through his comments and advice for you to get the best from your camera. Getting the best from.... YOU.....well thats up to you.

    • @DannyBligh
      @DannyBligh  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Exactly. Gear CAN help you get the shot, but a lot of it comes down to practice, patience and skill. For the first year of my weddings I shot on the original Sony A7 and the kit lens. Did the photos look good? Yes. As good as they would now? no, but that isn't just down to my upgrades, it's down to my knowledge.

      Excellent and well put put analysis of the facts of life as they appertain to fancy equipment vs skill.
      The proof of the pudding is inside us not without in a mechanism.
      If we lack true talent, artistry and "the eye" for what constitutes a kick ass image - an assemblage of intuitively chosen elements that without saying a word convey - loudly and clearly - what we want to say?
      Then, even the most expensive "kit" is like fertilizer left in the bag.

    Love my A7R5..........which you made me buy (sort of) LOL. But it does make my A74 seem rather redundant. I should swap it for the A7S3 (because I so want 4k 100fps) but the 100fps on the A7R5 is very good. But having switched from Lumix GH5's a couple of years ago I still long for super smooth gimbal free video shooting. The A7R5 is close but still a bit jerky in comparison to my old GH5's (of course due to full frame).

Tech moves far to fast to credibly think that this is still going to be at or near 'cutting edge' of what's then possible. That said each to their own, so if it makes sense for you and your needs then that's all that really matters.

    In my opinion a potential magnificent camera acting as a bag of somewhat better organized fuzzy functionality vs A7R4a . Overall the lacking of an engaged factory support in user friendliness shows. The AI AF lacks updates after over 1 year and the choice for CFA memory not justifiable at pricepoint & speed. Sensor and viewfinder are great but the yield could have easily been much much higher resulting in even better pictures my opinion. I wonder if Sony Ambassadors have a meaningful role in feeding back customer input. Update policy and overall support do not reflect that in my opinion.
