There's some more explanations in all of repply section, please read it more and carefully take the important ones so atleast you'll get a better insights about these ladies and YGE business concept from time to time
@@L.U.C.A.006 yesssss I definitely think his comments were fair..but I also think he needs to learn a lot more info about them. He seems to have experience in the industry and as a producer I'm sure he has some insider info that us just consumers don't know. Once he gets up to speed regarding BLACKPINK, I hope he makes another video about it. I like his bluntness. I'm a diehard Blink but does it mean I'm going to put up with YG's bs? no. I honestly think fans shouldn't think *any* criticism of BP should be dismissed. If fans weren't as insecure, we would be talking about this issue more and finally have developed more ground as a united fandom to say to YG that "no. We're not okay with how you treat BP" and maybe, they'd finally listen 🥺 I know many have already complained but it's fair to say the whole fandom isn't unanimous with it.
@@mediocritycentral Yeah definitely, people like him will gonna need a further in-depth learning about BP and the whole history of YGE nor Kpop industry as a whole thing and seeing it from various critical perspective. But for the effectiveness of the engagement with us BLINKS in the comment section i think we need to contacting him via his social media platform other than this channel or atleast suggesting him to open up a live streaming session alongside with some frequent open-discussion in Discord cuz otherwise all of the vital informations/POVs in each of our comments will be remain as a dust in this comment section 😂
@@L.U.C.A.006 oh that'd be awesome 😅 Finally we get to clear things up because I'm sure a lot of younger immature Blinks are going to react to this video negatively 😅 I swear those types of people see ALL criticism as bad 🤣
@@mediocritycentral Just so u know, i'm not that younger BLINK anymore, i mean i was there even before Psy-GS goes viral around the wolrd and since then i've been diggin myself to the horizon of Kpop universe so pretty much i almost saw everything wethr from the brighter side or even the darker side of this though entertainment industry... That's why i'm not gonna that easy to be triggered in a negative way especially from those small clips of self-research fan-made video...
The video is a bit misleading. It isn't perfect, yes got most things right, but you also need more research and context see things more holistically. Yes YG has been notorious for being sexist and misogynistic but what the video was actually trying to say is that YG intended BLACKPINK to be the "successor"of 2NE1. Besides, 2NE1 also comes from the same label as BLACKPINK (YG). 2NE1 was so different compared to the other groups at the time. Most girl groups in 2009 were "cutesy" while 2NE1 came out with a punk, hip-hop, girl crush concept. They were different. And that along with their talents, catapulted them to be regarded as the "queens of Kpop" at the time. BLACKPINK is definitely not a carbon copy of 2NE1 but you can see where they are inspired from. YG disbanding 2NE1 was the biggest mistake not only in YG, but also in Kpop as a whole.
Don’t take the “carbon copy” or “clone” comment too literally. I think there’s a bit of lost in translation (different culture) there. It’s to me more appropriate to explain as the same “concept.” Give the girls some credits. They are not robots. Do you think putting any four girls will yield the same results?? I beg to differ.
Love BP or not, no one can deny their popularity especially at the global scale. Kpop is different now than 10 years ago. 2NE1was very popular in their days; CL was the kpop queen (whose sadly career was wrecked by YG’s mismanagement as everyone knew). Dara was very popular too. By the way, Dara is now reported to be the richest kpop idol world as a result of her entrepreneurial skills. Smart cookie!
Us fans HATE HATE YG's strategy, but it seems to work. It's frustrating because WE KNOW the members of BP are incredibly talented. They have shown off their vocals, dancing, and rapping ability even pre-debut..which makes me think YG purposefully bait us with BP. Yes they're incredibly talented and charismatic, but YG immediately held them back once they got big. I mean YG is one of the most prestigious labels in Kpop so getting in YG is no easy feat either. Each of the members auditioned for YG in their respective countries and placed first just to get in YG. Again, we absolutely HATE YG but all his artists have all been legendary and have made a dent and their own legacies on Kpop as a whole. And with BLACKPINK succeeding, I hope they don't continue with their sketchy strategy. Yes I'm glad you finally see that BLACKPINK is bigger than you initially thought, but what if I told you they are the biggest right now? -> Their How You Like That dance video almost at 800M views, being the #1 most viewed dance video in the entire internet (crazy that a dance video did that and it's close to the views that the official music video has at 900M views). -> How You Like That breaking 5 Guinness World Records upon its release. -> DDU-DU DDU-DU is actually at 1.6B views now. It's the first Kpop group video to reach 1B and also the most viewed video by a group. -> Them having over 2 Billion streams in Spotify alone in 2020 alone. -> All of the 8 songs in their "THE ALBUM" charted in global iTunes in over 52 countries at #1-#8. -> According to ELLE USA and Bloomberg, they're officially the biggest girl group in the world right now. -> At 63M subscribers, BLACKPINK is officially: the #1 most subscribed female artist EVER, the #1 most subscribed group EVER, and the #2 most subscribed artist EVER (only behind Justin Bieber by a few million, but judging at their pace, they'll pass him before 2021 ends). Despite these stats and achievements, I hope YG with their new management changes for the better. Also, one of the members, Rosé, has 2 songs out "On The Ground" and "Gone" (they both have music videos) and I'd say it's one of the most real I've seen BLACKPINK. She was heavily involved in the writing, style, vibe, and even down to the aesthetics of her album art. Whenever she talks about both songs, she gets a lil giddy and emotional because it hits home for her and if you listen to them, you'd know it's about her life. I think 2020 was the time YG finally let them express themselves more freely (again, likely because of the new management. The old CEO scks)
My dude, you need to calm down. Damn. You went off the rails with the assumptions here. “Do they have personality? Do they have talent?”, are you daft? All you have to do is watch their content. Do you really believe the girls are just randos? That any combination made of 4 random girls would have the same effect? Like, you, me and 2 more people would be just as good as Blackpink if we debuted through YG? Honestly, that’s high key disrespectful to the girls and the many years they put into training and perfecting their craft. People in the west have this idea that if an artist isn’t grown from a garage, it’s not true “art”. Like, it’s frowned upon to actually train and prepare and be a perfectionist before going out in front of an audience. That’s messed up. Please watch “A Crack Guide to Blackpink 2020” by Kil Mixes and/or their Netflix documentary called “Blackpink: Light Up The Sky”. Please, it’ll be so much more enlightening.
It seems you have a gripe with the kpop industry as a whole. YG isnt unique in what they do or how they conduct their business. As a matter of fact I would say that YG gives their artists more freedom with their music compared to other companies. The best way I can describe kpop is think of mo-town in the US.
@@JimGames trueeee. We hateee YG but we cannot deny What YG has done for his artists. I prefer yg as an agency compared to other agency who tires their artists.
No matter you like or hate it, the strategy YG used to promote Blackpink worked very well. It is not common in Kpop industry that the company would starve the fans this much. Have to say this strategy will make fans more passionate on their next comeback. I enjoy their music and MV a lot, they always have very great production quality. But everything is made and controlled by YG team, they basically designed the group. You can hate them, but without the team, there will be no Blackpink. I don’t like the way they make idols like products, but sometime this is what they want to do and it was proved to be successful. That’s why I always respect more of the companies which offer idols more freedom and the idols who can creat their own works.
I think Blackpink is definitley like the traditional idea of what kpop groups are and how they are formed. If you want to get to know more about the industry, I recommend the video "you're wrong about k-pop: a video essay" by bby gang. It goes over all the misconceptions about the genre in general and how it compares to similar acts and practices we see in Western countries, kind of putting everything into perspective. The series "Rise of Bangtan" that many people suggested in your last video also explores more of the industry (as well as Bangtan's place within the industry) in an objective manner, but it's crucial to watch the entire series in order to get a better understanding of the industry and it's pretty long lol (there are also deleted scenes and bonus content that are fun to watch)
YP keep doing it as long at people support the girls sorry I wont support them for that reason no matter how talented they are. YP need to change for the future kpop groups sake
keep in mind this is still just a fan guide a well-made one but that none the less it's still tainted by opinion and point of view, they decided for this to focus on the business and company side rather than the members. If you want a better idea of the members and their own story and their journey how hard they work watch Netflix's Light Up The Sky while any documentary is tainted by opinion it was directed by Caroline Suh who has worked on a number of Netflix projects and is respected in her field not just a TH-cam channel with 160k followers, also she's not someone that just works in the kpop industry this was her first venture into the kpop world. I think if you watch Light Up the Sky (it's only about 1 hour 20 minutes) it will answer many of your questions about them and who they are.
Tbh YG didn't disband 2ne1 just because they weren't "pretty" or they were getting old. 2ne1 disbanded because they got into scandals that affected their career and the Korean media was very harsh on them, the company (YG) had a vote to disband 2ne1 or to not. It was a 6-5 tie with the executives and that made 2NE1 disband. YG had refused to disband 2ne1 but because of the executives he had no control over it. Blackpink wasn't meant to be 2ne1 at all, as you can see PinkPunk was the original plan as a group with 9 members, but ever since 5 of the other member left, YG had focused on Blackpink being an experimental group to see where they would go. Blackpink were trainees so they put hard work and dedication into training to debut for 14-16 hours a day so they deserve all the fame just like other groups. Even though kpop may seem manufactured, it's a better industry for celeberties since not everyone can join and ONLY hard working and strongly dedicated people are able to debut as an idol to the public. The idols themselves are very real and they aren't robots lol, and the idols connections with the fans are VERY strong including blackpink with blinks which is why Kpop fandoms are the most loyal fandoms ever.
Don't be too upset that Blackpink doesn't write their own material. Many of the LEGENDARY North American entertainers never wrote a lyric in their life. i.e. Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, & Barbara Streisand, to name a few. So, if they can become legends with only their voices and performances, it's ok for Korean idols as well! 😉
BP member's personality that r shown r not fake dont worry lol. All members have shaded the company several times😂 they have freedom in their outfits and hair, its just that this video is more of business perspective than personality.
All blackpink members play instruments Jisoo: korean drums Jennie: flute and guitar Lisa: ukelele Rosé: Piano, Guitar electric and acoustic all blackpink members write but not all have had credits Rosé wrote and composed two songs on her mini album Jisoo along with Jennie participated in the writing of Lovesick Girls, Jennie also participated in the composition Jennie participated in the lyrics of "solo", her song as soloists. Jennie also wrote a new rap for the remix of this song Jisoo has also written the lyrics for her covers, such as Clarity and Habits Lisa composed and wrote the lyrics for her cover of Say So
DON'T JUDGE GIRLS FOR COMPANY ACTIONS They have sacrificed their youth, their studies, their family in what they are doing now ... obviously they want more song but their work is limited by the agency (they signed contracts so they can't always do whatever they want to do) In Korea the only way to become a singer is to join a company no matter if it's YG company or another company (it's almost a rule in kpop) THERE ARE SEVERAL STEPS BEFORE BECOMING A KPOP IDOL You must first audition, then after having passed the audition you become a trainee (Jennie 6 years of training, Rosé 4 years of training, Jisoo 5 years of training, Lisa 5 years of training) several years of training during which you practice singing, dancing, learning languages, instruments and many more .... evaluations every month, other fail and others pass ... all this in the end to be selected only 10 or 9 or in Blackpink case only 4 among all the company trainee If their clothing (on stage), their brand, their music video and their show is controlled by their company ... BP has always shown their true personality to their fans, You would even be shocked to know how much fans know about their behavior, taste, preference and more. they are just human like you and me !!!! Your judgment is quick but I don't blame you because all this is new for you, I hope your anger is directed by those who want to control them and not themselves (these girls have dreams and they just wanna live their dream) That's all for me, bye
Can you react to BLACKPINK Journey and Friendship video? 😃🙏 This video explain a lot about their training process and their close relationships. Fun fact, that $37 million was just an estimate that people make when BLACKPINK was still on their World Tour. After their World Tour ended in February 2020, it is already been confirmed that their World Tour gross more than $57 million. Unfortunately, BLACKPINK don't get enough credits for their participation in the songwriting of their songs. This is a fact. For example, Jennie admitted that she wrote Stay in one of the behind the scene video that I found on Twitter. It is clip of one of the BLACKPINK reality show on TH-cam. In that clip, Jennie reveal the reason why she felt very emotional whenever they performed Stay live is that she is the songwriter. Jennie literally cried when performing Stay live. I also found out that after they release As If Your Last, they have an interview. During that interview, Lisa admitted that she wrote the rap verse for As If It Is Your Last. She even said that it is longer than she thought it is. This interview was all over the news in South Korea. During an interview, Tushar Apte one of the producer who work on the BLACKPINK's song, Love To Hate Me, reveal that Danny Chung and Lisa write the rap verse for Love To Hate Me together. 😃 This is what Tushar Apte said during his interview, Question: Was the first draft you submitted instantly approved or did the members share their feedback with you to rework on? Tushar Apte's answer: We pretty much got it right the first time on this! Which isn’t common at all, but of course Lisa and Danny Chung had to go and write the amazing rap verse that really takes the record to a whole different level! However, if you look at their credits for their songs such as Love To Hate Me, you won't find their name on the credit list for some songs. If anyone want to see the link for that Jennie's clip and those interviews that I mention earlier, just let me know and I will gladly give you the links for it. However, it seems like YG learn their lesson recently. BLACKPINK was accredited for their work on their recent songs such as Lovesick Girls. Rosé was accredited for writing lyric and composing her solo songs, On The Ground and Gone. 😄
@@JimGames Fun facts, that PINKPUNK was originally the name they plan to use. However, before they finally make their debut in 2016, they decided to use the name BLACKPINK because the colors black and pink refer to their tough and soft sides. They originally plan to debut with 9 members, however, 5 of them left during their years as trainees. So, basically, the 4 members that you see now are the trainees that successfully went through the trainees and made their debut as BLACKPINK. Also, all 4 of them can play instruments. Lisa likes to play ukulele, Jisoo like to play drum, Jennie like to play guitar, and Rosé like to play both guitar and piano. 😃
@@JimGames Another fellow BLINKS named "Lazerx1" has been commented for some more valuable insights about BP, YG or Kpop. Go find all of his commentaries and trust me you'll get to learn so much from a different perspective as well that should be relieving your current anger over from this misleading fan-made video
@@JimGames please react more to blackpink! I love your sincere reaction so that’s we don’t stop recommending you to keep react to Blackpink talent. They are so talented! I recommend you to check out their live vocals cover Sure Thing by Miguel in SBS Party People. They wrote the rap part btw
I know it's absolutely frustrating strategy. Rest assured the girls write and participate in their songs too, and jennie kim is like their spokesperson, jisoo is incharge of decision making, lisa is incharge of their dance, and rose in their vocals meaning they are standing up for themselves too.❤️
I totally understand ur anger, but one thing you should know...THEY HAVE TALENT BUT NOT FREEDOM. That's how Kpop works. YG Ent won't debut artist without talent, years of years training proofs that. For 5-6 years these 4 girls had evaluation with other lot of girl, it's like a competition in their company. While they were trainee, they challenge to make a choreography, lyric, music by themselves. You don't show improvement, you out. That's how it works. Kpop isn't only about singing and writing, it's all about performance aspect (singing, dancing, stage setting, wardrobe etc.) If you try to compare to other American artist of course there is positive and negative to every side. But also, one thing you should know...people around the world listen and watch Kpop because they all FULL PACKAGE...I believe not lot of American artist dance and singing on the stage. And I also wanna give my opinion...people love them because THEY WORKED HARD. ART isn't always about singing right? there is also dancing, painting etc. So...I understand ur perspective, but also show respect to them. and of course u should learn more about them before you left negative comments about them. Love the reaction btw :D
In short, BlackPink is a kpop gateway drug - you see them, their banger songs and high quality music videos and you "get" what the appeal of kpop is straight away. I got in to kpop the same way through BP, but since finding BTS I haven't looked back even once. I wish the BP members the best, and will keep following them as individuals but... the rest you can tell by yourself :)
Welcome to K-pop. Yes K-pop is like industrial area with some "manufactures" in it. There's so many entertainment company which competing each other to creates the best artists. Each company have many groups/artists, and in one group there's a full package team from choreographer, producers, wardrobes, marketing, advertising and more, and yes the group/artists is the products themselves. They (company) opens an audition and trains candidates for years, from hundreds to a group contains 4-12 people depends on how the group concept and trained more to be ready to debut as a group. That sounds ridiculous but that's how K-pop industry works. It's not like not giving freedom to the artist but it's helping the artists from no one to become a artist that can do singing, dancing, producing music, modeling, public speaking, acting, and more, not just singing like a common artist (singer). K-pop is more than just a music industry it's a full package industry which create a full package multitalented artists. If people want to be a pure singer, or pure dancer or whatever they don't need to join the k-pop company, they just do it by themselves. Those k-pop entertainment company are a way to grows artist's carrier, it's like a got talent show but more properly. Members of the group can choose to stay in the company or leave and doing their own carrier with all talents they have gotten from the company. K-pop company is not that bad like what you think in reality. Especially BLACKPINK, that's just YG Ent. strategy To build brand awareness, to gain loyal fans, to gain recognition from people around the world, every k-pop company have their own style and strategy. That is k-pop. You can't blame a k-pop company or people that join those company. That's their decision, they are not talented? They not free to create arts? NO, all k-pop artists is super talented but they need to follow the company rules for their best carrier, the company is helping the artist to grow their carrier, that's how k-pop works. You need to learn deeper about k-pop from other groups from other k-pop company to understand why k-pop is like this. Thank you for reacting BLACKPINK, and one fact: YG ENTERTAINMENT is a big and popular entertainment company that have created many amazing artists. BLACKPINK is one of them.
Yeah. I learn a little bit about that and what I realize that is simular to all the "girl crush" concepts in different girl groups is the "visuals" how they look and the swag they have very "sexy" and yeah like you said "bad**"
Very good reaction I love your honesty and your frankness. Too bad for the girls that they do not have all the freedom for the production and the writing.
Excuse my long comment.=) I don't make music, but as a listener I'm not a big fan of the idea that you aren't a good singer unless write lyrics and play instruments. That's like saying you can't be a good actor unless you write the scripts and do all the filming. Yes, being a singer/songwriter is awesome, but not being one doesn't mean you are untalented hack. Singing and dancing are great talents, too. There have been and are many great non-singer/songwriter musical artists over the years. It's very common in pop music the world over, including the US, which I know some people don't like, but just because it took 3 people (lyricist, producer, and singer) to make a good song rather than 1 (singer/songwriter) doesn't mean the song is any less good. If it's good, it's good. That said, some of the machinations that go on in entertainment companies the world over is frustrating as heck. I've followed US artists who've said that their company forced them to stick to certain genres/concepts (see Pink) or who's label refused to release their music for whatever reason (see Fiona Apple), so I don't think it's a K-Pop thing. It's just a shady music industry thing. It seems pretty obvious from the video shown in this doc that the group wanted to put out more music. I feel bad that their company wasn't supporting them on that in the name of a marketing strategy (if the doc is correct about that) and that their talent was being wasted.
“Girl Crush” is a concept in which a girl group had a bad ass vibe. Like we are the bad bitches/no one can stop us etc. like the girls are “crushing” the stage
In one sentence you say "I know what will happen, he's going to replace them in a few years, I've seen it happen over and over", and then follow it up with " Everyone gets their fifteen minutes of fame, that's just how the world works." You're contradicting yourself. I appreciate your anger and passion for "creative expression", but as you said you're new to K-Pop. K-Pop groups, by design, ARE prepackaged as a rule, that's literally what the groups have always been, for the most part, and why there are only three companies running the industry. And if you think that those three companies aren't competitive, and fault them for the "cash grab" as you call it (usually making money is the endgame at most businesses) then you need to take off your rose colored glasses, business has always been about making money. Kudos to you for your altruistic point of view, but everyone who signs a contract knows what it entails. YES, there are K-Pop artists who have more creative freedom, it's true, but they need to prove their skills before a billion dollar industry will risk ruining their reputation. The Western music industry is much different, popular K-Pop artists release music (called comebacks) usually two or three times a year, it can't be compared to Western artists. Also, K-Pop groups are not only about the writing of the song, artists are viewed as a complete package. The entire performance is what's important, factors include not only the music, but also the outfits, hair, makeup, choreography and visual aspects of the sets in a live performance or video. Not to say that YG and the other companies haven't mismanaged their artists, YG is a misogynistic SOB and worse. Over the past year though, BLACKPINK seems like they are being managed much better, perhaps their partnership with UMG helped. You may not want to continue reacting to BLACKPINK or K-Pop, as it seems to upset you.
Damn he really hit a nerve there. Im sorry to break it to you but those two phrases aren't contradictory. Lol. You can literally make them into one sentence. "Hes just gonna replace them in a few years I know it, thats just how the world works" Hes just expressing disappointment that blackpink is another example of the music industry becoming more and more "fake", hes not looking at it through rose tinted glasses hes actually being very real. I think that applies to you better as someone whos getting so heated cuz someone was off out by blackpinks fakeness
@@elysianbeauty4266 if we're discussing fakeness, nearly every artist out there is fake. I'd argue that western artists are faker than Kpop artists (personality wise anyways). With Kpop artists, we know most of what we see is what they want us to see. You rarely see them act human per se; meaning any normal emotion, act, or expression that doesn't align with happiness and positivity is usually kept out of the public's view. Completely genuine artists don't exist anymore. If they did, they wouldn't be able to maintain longevity in the current music world. The music industry is a business in of itself. For example, Ariana Grande. The woman literally continuously changes the color of her skin to match her musical image. When you think of her, you picture tanned skin, high ponytail, diva vocals, and a cute yet sassy/fierce disposition. All of that is the picture she presents to the world to accompany her music and make her more desirable to fans. The only real artist I've seen for a minute has been JB, and that's only bc he stopped giving a fck and let his true personality free. Even so, it could all be part of his plan to repackage his public image into what he calls his adulting self. You know, this was actually really fun to write. Maybe I should be minoring business haha
@@mara_q9979 I agree and I never nor the creater every said other wise 😂 but i would ague western artist act more human. Kpop idols are kicked from their companies for dating, get in trouble for swearing and sex jokes and have to quit their hobbies (Day6Jae), and they don't react during award shows. If you genuinely think that you fell for what the kpop industry is trying to want you to think about the idols so you feel more attached and spend their money. Theres a reason why idols like BTS are filmed almost 24/7 but have never publicly dated someone
the company is something important for a group, YG gave them a lot of opportunies early on and is a BIG company and powerful, but they control them and their music 1000%... while a smaller company is a lot harder to be known but the artist like bts has more freedom
There is an album by Blackpink. It's called THE ALBUM. th-cam.com/play/PLNF8K9Ddz0kKeTUhlNE2bCQyvO7o3O3Bd.html Also, if you want to see the girls' individual talents, please watch Jennie's SOLO song, Rose's 2 songs Gone and On The Ground and Lisa's Lili films #1-4.
YG invested over 5 years of their money in the training process paying for everything, food, cloths, housing, training. The girls know the process and are willing to live this lifestyle. They sign a 7 year contract upon debuting. They each have a personal life that you need to look at. The Kpop industry in Asia is a hard industry to crack and yes some groups get taken but many groups/artists live a very secure and profitable lifestyle.
You know being an Idol takes years of trainning... being talented without having great marketing team is just a waste of talent. Actually YG is way better compared to other KPOP company.
You can watch the documentary on Netflix "LIGHT UP THE SKY" then you'll understand more what they're all about. YG himself made a wrong statement about "BP is a carbon copy of 2NE1 but a pretty version". Yes, he's so wrong about that. But he is the one beside Teddy Park (BLACKPINK main producer) hand pick these 4 girls and put them as a group. They can create more groups with a tons of girls that they have been training, but they did not. BLACKPINK is a girl group debuting 6 years after 2NE1. Teddy said clearly in the documentary that they didnt expect BLACKPINK to be so successful as they are now. It was overwhelming to everybody and himself too. About BLACKPINK, the girls passed thousands of people in the audition by their talents. They passed hundreds of weekly and monthly Tests and against among each other in order to get the debut ticket. Same like those singers graduate from X-factors or American idols from Western, but this is more intense. There's few things that I agree with you about YG is holding the girls back. But its just the company itself isnt that great. YG is famous for their up-and-downs in the industry, but its also known for a place that most of legendaries in Kpop come from: BIG BANG, G-Dragon, 2NE1, PSY, AKMU, and of course BLACKPINK. They embrace these artists as their own family members. This topic is a whole different rabbit hole if you wanna dig in, I recommend to look up how the big 3 (SM, YG, JYP) companies treating their artists. As I mentioned, please consider to watch the documentary on Netflix, then you'll see if the girls actually have their hands on their products or not. The song WHISTLE was the girl's first decision to put out while Teddy was not even sure about it. But clearly they were right, WHISTLE was a huge hit and still one of the most beloved songs by BLACKPINK. The documentary from ASIAN THEORIES isnt a bad documentary to watch, but its 100% true about what behinds the scene. Yes, Kpop manufacturing industry is the FACT. But BLACKPINK is the ONE and ONLY group among thousands of groups in Kpop that having THE WHOLE PACKAGE. I'm not gonna say that they have talent, THEY ARE THE TALENTS. They dont follow the trend, THEY CREATE THE TREND (you can actually find some information how big impact Of BLACKPINK is on both Music and Fashion industry). You're a producer, please trust your ears when you hear the sound that come out from a person. If they dont have talents, they cant sing, rap or dance like that. You can train a whole bunch of people (maybe hundreds or thousands), but how many people can be good like them?
They really are sweet and down to earth..when you watch some of their interviews group or solos, fame hasn’t came to their heads..they still dont realize how big they are..and they still act like they are still trainee sometimes..they are incredibly talented. YG has some absurd approach and technique but in comparison to otheir elite companies in kpop they’re more lenient..but still some peeps still hate YG hahaha! 😊 we get what were you saying. Thanks for the real and honest reaction. 😊 you can check out their individual projects they’re really talented.. Rosé cover on sea of hope and also her Solo songs..jennie has solo also. You can also watch their Documentary light up the sky in Netflix.
That is correct. YG like any other company, their main interest is money, but the really important thing is that the artist is happy and they have always said that they are at their happiest time of life and that they love to work with professional people who know what they do and when they do. They are very different industries and cultures. I advise you to see the netflix documentary to know the perspective of the artist and not of the company.
Jennie and Rose write or add their ideas to their songs, Lisa assists with some of the choreography. Lisa also inputs on her raps. Yes, they have alot of help from the company but this is the way Kpop is. Many other groups do not have the artistic freedom Blackpink has.
@@JimGames you're in luck. The documentary on Netflix called "BLACKPINK Light Up The Sky" answers most of your questions. They also have a movie coming out on August called "BLACKPINK The Movie" in theaters all over the world. It goes over their journey as a group.
@@JimGames Their company doesn't give credit even when they participate despite them bringing up they contribute to the process this has been a problem many fans have with the company and even calling them sexist because this doesn't exist under their boy groups. and currently Blackpink is their only girl group they disbanded 2ne1 when Blackpink came onto the scene. Around 2019 there was a scandal and the CEO had to step down some believe he still runs things others think it's the new CEO in that time a lot has changed more freedom with members, them seeming more confident and relaxed and their first full album Members were believed to be banned from drinking then suddenly started appearing with bottle of wine or chapmen on their personal IG accounts or even endorsing an alcoholic beverage. So it was a lost of restrictions of the old CEO which seem to be going away now. Jennie and Jisoo both for the first time got credit for one song Lovesick Girls and Jennie was credit as a producer as well.
Their producer even gets credit on songs they have done with other artist, so this is just a YG thing and something the members agreed to when the signed. Rosé recently had her solo debut with 2 songs On The Ground and Gone which she took part in the writing, album designs, layout, aesthetic, music video concepts and more and she was credited as a writer for both songs. So when Blackpink started nobody knew they contributed anything it was only a few years in they started letting it slip in interviews where the contributed things or others that worked with the group mentioned this and again this was before the 2019 CEO change you notice this was just after that and they still referred to YG as he (his name is yang-hyun suk and he's called YG same as the company name) and not the company, if you take a close look at the group things have changed, even their demeanor seems different in interviews and actions Rosé for example was in the studio and just decided to hold a 30 minute mini concert on Instagram playing guitar and piano with Black Label producer playing guitar as well she covered 4 songs laughed joked and it's still up on her IG previously under the old CEO she only posted 1 minute or so clips of herself playing something. It should be noted that one of those first 6 songs a song called Stay Jennie even talked about writing but she never received credit so most of that was how the company wanted it perceived and they wanted it to be that Teddy Park a famous producer was responsible for everything despite members actually contributing. This has also been used to discredit them by antis saying they don't write despite members speaking even briefly on contributions but you will find them sprinkled through interviews and if asked flat out who writes the songs they have to answer (back then) Teddy, but then they will add something like Rosé will say she watched Lisa and Jennie change up raps, little add ons to the convo that show they were trying to hint it but couldn't really. This isn't YG but a kpop thing most companies are like this some are better some are actually worse, YG pays more and gives their artists more breaks other companies work their artist to exhaustion. Also many of the comments you will see are comments from other fandoms trying to chime in about the company. It's a pastime as a kpop fan to throw shade at other groups and their companies
Hi, this was a good reaction, your opinions were honest & respectful(to an extent). I’m a Blink aka a Blackpink fan (and many other groups), I just wanted to shed a little light on the Kpop industry as a whole. Don’t take “carbon copy” to seriously (this is a fan made video & yes YGs an ass), Kpop is more of a generational thing. The industry’s only been around for about 30yrs (were in the middle of 4th gen right now), Blackpink are the “juniors” ( 3rd generation) to 2NE1 (2nd generation). They are very different from each other from individual charms & personalities to their music, but their “concepts” are both cool, cocky, hip hop based etc. YG is 1 of the oldest (and therefore biggest) companies, each long lived company has generations of groups that are unique in their own right, you’ll see if you continue your Kpop journey (I hope you do, theres many cool groups 🙂). It’s true YG the man (he’s not even CEO anymore bc of legal trouble/charges) & YG the company are trash, but so is every company out for money (Big Hit/Hybe has a couple problems too). Some companies have different rules & regulations, but most basic rules are same. All companies hold auditions (& scout teens), usually teenagers who have a dream of doing music audition & show their talents, whether that be singing, dancing, rapping, instruments etc. The ones who pass are then considered “trainees”, they train anywhere from months to a decade before ever debuting. (Example: Jennie: 6yrs, Lisa & Jisoo: 5yrs & Rosé: 4yrs) They use this time to learn new skills & hone their skills they already had while auditioning. Everything is paid for & the training & rules are rigorous (also varies my company). So all groups are talented in their own right & have their own personal stories/journey. (Example: some have college degrees, some are still in high school while working, & some play instruments etc.) Overall what I’m saying is it’s not as black & white as this fan made video made it seem, Blackpink members know how to write music and compose songs (they learned while trainees), its just a matter of are they always credited by YG? There have been times where Jennie has said she worked on “Stay” (there’s no credits), they’ve said they sat on the couch w/ their main producer Teddy (also Teddy is a friend they confide in him & he knows them well) & brainstormed ideas together , Jennie& Jisoo have been credited on their most recent album, Jennie rewrote her rap in her solo song for their concert, & recently Rosé helped write lyrics for both of solo songs released this February. If you decide to dive deeper you’ll see them mention it. Last but not least recommendations lol: Blackpink’s Netflix documentary: Light Up the Sky, it’ll explain a little more about Kpop, their personal stories, and their career (they also have a movie coming out on August 4th). Zach Sang Show: Rosé’s solo interview for her recent solo work (she’ll tell you her creative process) & Blackpink’s group interview during their first time being in America after Coachella. P.S. I’ll leave some group recommendations in another comment, this is already too long lmaooo P.P.S. Girl Crush is basically just a group concept, its used in Kpop to describe cool, sassy, cocky, fierce etc. etc. girl groups, it’s a broad & encompassing term opposite from a cuter concept.
The simple thing to understand is YG is artist management, this company searches for a person with skill and talent and then making sharp their potency with technique, knowledge, practicing, and also make a weekly, monthly evaluation, they call this person a trainee. In average Blackpink training for Blackpink members is 5 years. Don't forget they are hard worker and persistent people. You can imagine they have a group with all members have big potency, skill and talent then educate and trained them for 5 years the result is clear. Tough bright shining star. Yes, Blackpink has strict rules by management such as not allowed drinking alcohol a day before perform, dating during trainee, tattoo, plastic surgery, etc until not allowed driving a car. Actually, they make lots of songs lyric even during trainee but I don't even know too why they are not allowed to put in songwriter list (but in their 1st full album finally YG write the members who contribute in writing song).
You said you don't know if they have talent? Talent isn't just writing your own songs. The company isn't singing or rapping or dancing for them. Just listening to Rose angelic voice or watching Lisa's dance or Jennie's rap or vocal or Jisoo's vocal should tell you the talent they have.
I never really liked kpop before blackpink, i always thought it wasnt for me and when i started to actually try to get to know the groups i also realized its for everyone. If you wanna know more about them they have a documentary on netflix 'Blackpink: Light Up The Sky'. and dont worry, being a yg stan is the hardest thing and we all constantly get mad at the things he does, every BLINK knows the struggles the girls went and still go through, i hope one day they can show us everything they've always wanted
BP is the most controlled group in the history of kpop, it baffles me sometimes that they belong in the same company with Bigbang who have total artistic freedom but in BPs case they're just puppets or dolled up instagram models. Don't get me wrong they're great and talented singers/rappers but they're not artists not at least up to now. Hell, even Icon or Treasure have more artistic freedom than BP. Up untill now the only song they've had a part in creating is hylt, they only ride Teddy's back. Heck, I don't think if you remember or not, back in the day one of BPs earlier official account had a bio saying "a pretty group mixed with the concept of 2NE1 & BTS".. they were spoon fed to success, not that I mind. I just hope that they'd have more music to at least to call them musicians and that they have more artistic freedom. But if they're happy with what they're doing now, then who am I to say anything.. But to be honest although YG don't give them artistic freedom but at least they give them privacy and break, and I think YGE is the only agency that gives their artists privacy and gives them fair pay. And to give YG a breathing space the year after 'As if it is your last' wasn't the best your of best year for them. So, I don't blame them for that year but except that everything else is their plan.. I don't know maybe I'm a bit salty when it comes to YG, specially after the B.I incident and what they did with him.
Lmao armies barking here. Mf do u know why YG is so strict now? It's because of their druggie seniors. See Bigbang. Almost all of them had scandals . Sure YG gave his artists freedom in the past but that freedom had its Pro and cons. That freedom brought in scandals after scandals from evry YG artists. Bigbang ikon winner 2ne1 all had scandals after scandals(some of them may not be scandals to us like Bom's case but in Korea it was a big scandal). Due to that it brought huge media scrutiny towards YG ent . The korean media were after YG's throat and that almost led them to thier downfall even YG himself was caught in a scandal and resigned...but Blackpink saved that company big time. If it weren't for bp YG would've filed for bankruptcy especially in 2019 where a new scandal came out evry day. Also girls generation never wrote any of thier songs during thier peak. And no one questioned thier credibility as one of the legendary kpop groups ever. or does this thing only apply to bp? Sm ent only allowed girls generation to write in thier later albums when they are no longer in thier peak. Also almost all of 2ne1's songs are written and produced by teddy ( although cl had a hand in some of the songs but it's mostly teddy). Bts biggest hit wasn't even written or produced by them but that didn't stop them from earning a Grammy nomination. Ggs have always been controlled tightly by thier companies more than boy groups. Also if u are a kpop fan then u must have known that south korea and kpop industry is a misogynistic country. Of course I want bp to have more freedom but u have to take in account of YG and kpop industry's history
@@Balerion_thedread bruh.. why are you so agitated? Did I say something bad about BP or did I insult anyone or their company? Why can't you just respect a different opinion? Shut tf up if you can't handle it, if you want to see the wrong as right then do so. Not everyone is bound to be blind or just a stan like you. I respect BP as singers/rappers, they're the biggest gg of kpop, period. & kudos to them for that. I just want to see them as complete artist not just dolled up manufactured barbies/ instagram models. If you like their current status, then good for you. But don't expect everyone to be in the same page. And as for me, I'll wait for the day when BP will be.the biggest gg *ARTISTS* of kpop and I believe that the day would come, soon enough.
In my Opinion,YG just gave time to make A Dope songs He choose Quality over quantity ...And this Video is Just Their opinion ...We dont know anything about YG'S plan So i wont judge!
I'm 3 months late to this reaction but I highly recommend that you watch their Netflix documentary titled "Light Up The Sky" you'll get a closer perspective to the group than this video you've reacted to.
Even if you don't like how YG handle Blackpink. you can't deny the fact that the strategy of yg are really good. look how bp trun out 😊 just saying, dont hate me. thanks! more bp reaction pls. 🙂🙂
I really don't like this guide, not only because they defend YG and say that starving the fans is a genius estrategy, but also because when they introduced the girls, the only thing they focus on Jisoo was her visuals and her personality, they didn't show any video of her vocals or dancing skills, I hated that so much!!! You should check out another guide cause this one it's not good!
43:00 yes this has actually already happened. YG struck gold with 2NE1. They were regarded as the queens of Kpop, with their level of success paralleling BLACKPINK. Then when it seemed like he can't milk them anymore, he disbanded them.
I wasnt a hardcore fan of 2NE1 but they were my favorite gg at the time aside from BIGBANG. Heck ive even introduced my friends to them. was a bit sad when CL wanted to focus on her solo career here in the states. Then things started going sideways. was like nnoooO. And then the Park Bom drug scandal the media had this thing for YG artist even carried on to BP rookie days. anyways YG was the only big 3 company that always put talent before anything else while the others focused on appearance. i respect them for that so for once they wanted to have a group with visuals also. I mean sure why not, pop off then. I had no idea they would be at this level of looks and talent lol. I was bitter with the 2NE1 issue but i gave BP a chance and they won me over. Love both groups and hopefully we can get a reunion of 2NE1 someday.
@@soominam3345 omg literally same 😂 I got into them when I heard "Fire" playing in a public market and got into them over since. Still VERY salty about 2NE1's disbandment. Imagine if we had a CLxJenLisa subunit??? I can't handle thattttt 🔥
This video is a bit over the top and saying opinions as facts. It's true, Blackpink is not a bunch of girls that have met in a garage, they are girls with talent chosen by a company and sold to the world after extremely rigorous training. If that ruins the magic for you, I understand. But reducing all to that is naive. You can't create a group like Blackpink like in a lab, ultimately what makes the difference are the artists. The girls have true talent, and their personality it's not fake, people love them because they are extremely humble girls despite their huge success. Their stage presence is amazing and it's hard to teach, their relationships is beautiful, as real sisters. Their producer is a musical genius and I don't understand why he shouldn't be considered an artist even if he works for a business company. The girls do much more than described in this video, it's a fact that they collaborate with the lyrics (even if YG doesn't always credit them for it), it's also a fact that they choose most of their outfits. They are also doing solo projects where they have even more control over lyrics and music, and in general, they are getting more and more involved with all the process. Yes, it's not genuine as people meeting in a garage and becoming huge, but why is spending years hard working in a company bad for itself? A lot of western artists come out from talent shows, or have producers making them the beats or other people making lyrics. What I know for sure it's that the love for music of these girls is extremely genuine, Rosè sings and Lisa dances since they were babies. I can appreciate their music (I consider Teddy Park as part of Blackpink too) and their talent even knowing that someone is selling it to me.
Ok this guy is for sure New in kpop bcs YG gave actually the most freedom from the big companies as one of the big 3. Gotta say BP even got more freedom than the other groups before them...but yeah. You would never like SM...he is the one that I like the least. Ppl say JYP but ppl keep blumig him for mistakes that did managers or staffs....but he treats the Company wel and the idols pretty much too not the best but better than SM and CUBE for sure...
YG doesn't really seem to comprehend how successful BLACKPINK is. Some companies leave their artists with very few music releases if they aren't as successful or as popular as much as the company expected them. But BLACKPINK is over average in everything, they all can sing, they can rap, they can dance, and they have likable personality for the public to enjoy, so it's not the members who are in fault of the poor comeback releases. If talking about music sales, they're first extended play (EP) sold almost 400k copies world wide, which is very rare for an artists, especially for a girl group to sell so well with their first project, and they're second and third album sold even more, "Kill This Love" selling more than 700k copies, and their first full album "THE ALBUM" selling almost 1 million copies in China and Korea alone, almost 3M records sold worldwide shows that BLACKPINK is very successful in sales and charts, so YG has no logical reason for putting them on hold for almost an entire year within each release, since they practically (as you saw) had success since debut, and even before debut, so YG is very dumb.
Also, for the best part of it, the girls have had a chance to write their own songs, like Stay, Lovesick Girls and You Never Know, they might have even written all their songs, but since we know how YG is, he wouldn't be nice enough to credit them, since he didn't credit them as writers for stay in 2016, and barely being given credit for written songs on "The Album" with Lovesick Girls, with also Jennie, one of the girls actually being credited as a producer for Lovesick Girls. The thing is that the girls are talented, but they aren't credited for the songs they write or produce cause YG doesn't want his female artists to really be seen as all rounder artists just like his boy bands, which is funny cause YG's boy groups like Big Bang has gotten the credit and chance to write and produce their songs since debut, but 2NE1 and BLACKPINK barely have chances to be credited for their art, to the point to where the staff of YG took the girls' notebook, filled with 80+ self written songs over the years, which are now being used and credited as "written and produced by YG producers".
Wow you are misunderstood a lot, Carbon copy means same 4 girl with hiphop concept, their sound and song are totally different from 2ne1. And their not instant, they go through audition than got trained for 4-6 years before hand pick to debut. And they work hard to perfect their skill. And they do have charm and talent, Lisa is one of the best kpop dancer in history. Jennie is consider kpop princess on how good and versatile she is, so does Rose who is one of the best selling kpop solo artist. So does jisoo, who now acting in Kdrama. So there you go, thats skill and talent for you.
Kpop is no more manufactured than American music in many ways. Case in point, Motown. You don’t think Jackson 5 was manufactured? Koreans just do it in a different way. Kpop idols train similar to classical musicians or ballet dancers. Intense training for average of 4-5 years, almost everyday of the year away from their families and friends. Instead of practicing in a garage, they audition at a young age and practice/train in a company learning to sing, rap, dance, speak different languages, and even act. Some produce music, choreography, write songs, etc. It’s so much more involved than what western artists go through. Btw, most classical musicians don’t write their own music, yet we don’t find that strange and perceive them as manufactured.
It's more harder to be a KPOP idol you are lucky if you have extra talent...they have to trained for many years not knowing if they debut or not that's why many fans attached also supporting them cause we all know how hard they went through
You are not writing your own songs doesn't mean you are not artistic. There's a lot of Western artist who doesn't even write their own songs just like Ariana Grande got 52 people to work on her music (styling, producer, lyricist, editor) doesn't make Ariana less artistic. As you said, you don't know much about kpop, but they'd gone through a lot before reaching where they are now. They trained 4-5 years before debuting! Training in singing, dancing, rapping and facial expressions and yes they have talent but they need to hone and perfect everything before showing to media. An entertainment wouldn't spend a lot of money for just untalented people like duh. That's why there are audition ALL AROUND WORLD to find that special singer nor dancer. As you know, they're from different parts of the world. Lisa is from Thailand, Rose - Australia, Jennie - New Zealand and Jisoo - korea. You should check more of their solos so that you can appreciate and see how talented they are.
When they said a carbon copy ...they doesn't mean a clone...but a group came from the same company , and have a same four member ..that's all blackpink music is totally different from 2ne1 , and they didn't got those huge views because of 2ne1 ..they got these positions by working hard and being themselves ... You're taking it very negatively making a girls look like talentless ...u are thinking that girl are nothing without their company...let me tell you they are all individually talented and have proved already ...you need to research more and make a comment on girls thank you
I am not a big fan of Black Pink. I mean I they are not bad but it is just not my thing. I watched this out of curiosity and I think this whole thing is giving me TLC vibes. Their story is similar. They were the best girl group in the world in the 90s, tons of hits, Grammy awards, huge success, but their label treat them bad, taking their money, giving them almost nothing, and later they had to file for bankruptcy. Then they went for a solo career and I think you all know the tragic events after this when we lost Lisa. Yes, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes from TLC, not this here. I was too young back then but l was a fan, later when I grow up I understood what exactly was happening. This here is a different country, different culture and kind of different industry, I really hope and wish that the girls will find their path to freedom or to better management.
their popularity was fast, because one of many factors that they are from YG (one of part of Big 3 along side with SM and JYP ent). of course they are so talented, but debut from big 3 label is privellege because easy access to media exposure. thats the reason general public know them quickly with "big label" reputation and support from industry. youtube views in 24 hours basicly like another BTS vs Blackpink (?) many people thaught like that. for now, Butter hold the record with 108 in 24 hours.
Take "The Asian Theory" with a grain of salt. He's great at listing stats, but his "YG Theory" of starving the public is conjecture, based on zero facts. He neglected to mention that the company was about to go bankrupt during that "starve the fans" period" due to the numerous scandals that YG (the CEO) and other artists were involved in. He had to literally step down from the company as CEO so his name would not further tarnish the image of the company. YG Entertainment was going to be removed as one of the "BIG 3" K-Pop companies as well. In the past YG had also made a statement to the effect of "I'm not good with girl groups.", perhaps that's why he made that insulting comment about 2NE1's looks. I think that the company froze most production while they were trying to put out fires, the company had gotten a bad name in the industry and the press and they may have felt that any artist releasing content might have underperformed. I know that it would not be true in BLACKPINK's case, they were already a juggernaut in the industry, I'm from New York and I've been a fan since their debut. I really don't think that YG realized their global reach at that time. I think that "The Asian Theory" just enjoyed his college marketing course so much that he felt he had to teach his favorite slogans and concepts to everyone. The video doesn't know what it wants to be, one minute it's teaching the history of K-Pop, the next it's asking if you remember very old groups as if you're already familiar with K-Pop! I think he should have shown the video to his professor before releasing it, perhaps they would have offered some constructive criticism to make the video more focused.
from about the 20 minute mark your emotions and prejudices got the better of you dude. let me just say as someone older than you who has a few years under his belt in the music industry and nearly 10 years of following kpop, nothing you're seeing in kpop is that different to how American companies are operating. Backstreet Boys, Madonna, Britney Spears etc are all governed by their companies, American Idol etc exist to source vocalists as a tool and a marketable product) - the years of artists creating and using companies to distribute are long gone in every corner of the world - just like farmers growing food and selling it to the local town is gone too - it's now all governed by retail/supermarket chains etc. you need to let go of that shit dude. In Kpop there are plenty of artists who contribute to the finished product (Jennie and Jisoo have written lyrics, Rosé's solo tracks etc all have huge involvement in the end product - but the industry isn't what you might perceive it to be anymore (or hope it to be). That carbon copy group (2NE1) was what brought me into this scene and i certainly have had my issues with YG's management - but i do understand the evolution of the music industry and my point is you can't judge artists, companies or anything on the systems you (and I) understood as normal. And if you can't - maybe just react to stuff pre 1990's idk.
I think it will be a bit naive to believe or think that 4 young girls could have produced all those fantastic music videos and had their own resources to achieve what they have today. They were trained by their company at a cost, had very intensive competition, monthly evaluations for years to avoid being disqualified, for which they needed to have real talents and a lot of hard works. They have all struggled and fought to be where they are. Don't call them "fake" or "manufactured"
He didn't. Don't take his words too literally 😅 He actually said it in an open-ended way. Because after learning about how YG does things, he immediately questions if ALL he's seeing with BLACKPINK is real or not... I'm sure if he watches more of their stuff and especially their reality shows and video series like BP 24/365 he'd get more perspective into things. He already said he doesn't look ill of the girls, he's just putoff to how YG does things..and that's a fair criticism. But I would like to add that compared to other companies, YG is actually relatively fair especially in paying their artists. Yes YG is very sus about their strategies but I wouldn't label them as the "worst". I hope you get what I'm tryna say pls don't hate me 😅
@@adhd9577 Yeah he definitely needs to get to know them more and even Kpop as a whole more. It's natural for him to have such assumptions but I hope he gets a more holistic view in the future. It's not fair to say it's all manufactured when in fact most of the artists have put their heart and soul into their music.
Success comes with hardwork and sacrifice. Can't have best of both worlds, be recognised with fame worldwide and the freedom to do things like in your own garage.
2ne1 didn't disband because of BP.. not because they were ugly..at that time... They we're involved in many scandals that led them to disbandment...And I think You took the word "carbon copy" too seriously... They didn't copy 2ne1 in everything...pls give Black pink some credit here...they just copied their concept which is the girl crush concept...
@@marirezende8478 yes they are great but you know most western people love to listen hype song or something like that. And since this is the first impression to kpop then it's better if it can something than can impress him. Most western people think kpop as a bubble gum with all those cute hello kitty type which isn't. So yeah twice won't be a good impression for someone who just got into kpop. That's it.
All the girls are soooooo talented and trained for years to get here their company trained them for 4-6 years but sadly won’t let them have a lot of music
You are a 100% right, but YG is not the only label that does that but all the labels in kpop and the group that debut in their company has absolutely NO faults about that but all the people that work behind them like JYP or HYBE (two of the most famous labels). - justin bieber, demi lovato and others are in this label (HYBE)
Yeah, I absolutly agree with everything you just said. To lighten your mood a little bit: YG is no longer CEO of YGE because of couple of scandals in 2019. Since then things have changed. For example they finally released their fist album ('The Album' ^^). I think you should really check out Roses solo "On the Ground! I feel like you will really relate to the lyrics :) Also, if you want to get to know other girl groups with more "artistic integrity" I recommend to you: - Mamamoo: probably the most important group when it comes to female empowerment in the last 10 years. They break Korean gender and beauty norms left and right, they have incredible live performances and they are known to be the vocal queens of kpop. - (G)I-dle: Soyeon, their leader is heavily involved in everything they do. She writes most of the lyrics, composes and so on. Also she is just 22 years old, super talented. And of course Dreamcatcher, you already know them :)
YG lets Blackpink girls wear and dye their hair however they want, but YG does kinda let Blackpink girls write and compose their songs, Jennie wrote lyrics for Blackpinks song called "Stay" and she even helped their producers to produce that song, Rose wrote lyrics for her own solo songs called "Gone" and "On The Ground" and much more.... yes YG is sh1t but he does give Blackpink a bit of freedom
Soooo…. While this “documentary” is very well made, edited, and produced, it is NOT very accurate. It is true that most Kpop groups are the pre packaged company robots that this video makes them out to be. But blackpink DOES NOT fall into that catagory. Example: they are in no way a “carbon copy” of any other group. And they do have ALOT of artistic freedom. Jennie writes quite a bit of their music. She even has a producer credit on a couple of there songs. The girls are in charge and approve wardrobe for shows and in charge of their own hair and makeup. These are just small examples. This video COMPLETLY gave you the wrong impression of blackpink.
Yg right now plays the best card today yg best card is lisa we have to understand blackpink has less songs than other group even they have less song they very very busy persons actually yg take care the girls. I dont think thier will be other group can match blackpink just to match talent specialy lisa yg is just management company a talent company any one can hire thier talents
I totally support your opinion on (maybe) not continuing with BP reactions. I won´t support them either I did at one time but when I found out what YP was doing I stopped. maybe YP will learn to treat their idols better in the future. they should learn from bighit. look how bts shine. not only on popularity but they seem happy and free to do what they want. and their music influence people that´s the key to succes. look at Michael jackson and other legends.
Okay I definitely would have not recommend to watch this bc about half of this is what he thinks is happening with no real proof at all or it’s stuff that was said but no “full” explanation and him making his own “theories” about what was said. I completely understand you frustration mainly bc many fans feel this way too, but there were a lot of misinformation in this video. Let me give you a little back ground on the members and the group and then their awful company. Jisoo: she joined yg to be an actress at some point in her training she was switched to be an idol ( that was her decision ) Jisoo is now a lead vocalist and visual of the group. The visual of the group is basically saying that she fits korean beauty standards and you might think this weird but whether we admit it or not the general public do get attracted but how someone looks sadly. Her position as a lead vocalist is bc by technique she is the second best vocalist. Jisoo has written a demo version of their song Stay but was never used for the final version so ofc she wasn’t credited, she did in fact co-wrote their song Love Sick Girls and was credited and in the past, for concerts, she would perform solo covers and would rewrites the song in Korean (bc she would usually perform a song in English) some of it is the transition from English to Korean and some of it is her own written lyrics that she added into the song. For acting, you might be thinking that “she came into the company to act and was trained for it too so does she act” and the answer is yes she does, she had two small roles and as of rn she finishing shooting her k-drama with the leading role, it’s speculated that the drama will be released later this year. For any instruments that she plays, she can play traditional Korean drums and that’s about it, she revealed that she learned to play the ukulele, guitar and piano but gave up on it bc it was too much for her to remember but tbh you can really blame her for not having much interest in playing an instrument considering she didn’t get interested in being an artist until after she joined yg so she may not be AS musically driven as other members to play instruments but she is musically driven enough to sing, dance, write some music. Personality wise like it said in the video she very funny, whacking and has a great sense of humor. Jennie: she joined yg to be a singer and since debut she became the main rapper and lead vocalist of the group based on technique. Jennie learned to rap under the company and took interest in it after they had her try to do it. Jennie also has written music but a lot compared to Jisoo. Jennie participated in writing their song Stay and was never credited for it and we as fan didn’t know until she herself revealed it in a video. She also participated in her song Solo and even participated in the choreo yet she was never credited for either and again fans didn’t know about this until she said something in a video, she wrote her own rap in a cover of Sure Thing, I believe she also wrote her own rap for their cover of So Hot, she also co-wrote Lovesick Girls along with Jisoo and also co-produced it and FINALLY she was credited for it. For any instruments, Jennie has stated that she knows how to play the flute and learned how to play the guitar about 2yrs ago. Personality wise she’s very sweet and cute but she get a lot of hate bc of her image, her image that she gives off is kinda badass and diva ish and many want to buy into that so badly bc of all the rumors that there are about her, when in reality she’s the complete opposite. Rosé: she joined yg to become a singer just like Jennie and since then based on technique she became the main vocalist and lead dancer of the group. Rosé has actually participated in writing the least not bc she not capable or not interested but bc she feels them to be too personal to release, like her producer said, it’s like her diary. Since then though she has co-written her 2 solo songs On The Ground and Gone. Her producer also stated that Rosé loves to stay up and work on music but is too shy to reveal them. Instruments wise, she plays the piano, electric and acoustic guitar. Personality wise she’s known for being very shy, a little awkward in a funny/adorable way and just overall down to earth. Lisa: she joined yg to become an idol and like the video said she’s considered to be one of the best dancer and overall performers in kpop. She’s she debuted she became the main dancer, lead rapper and sub vocalist of the group. Just like Jennie, Lisa has participated in song writing where she hasn’t been credited. She wrote her own rap for As if it’s you Last and fans didn’t know until she herself revealed it in an interview, she wrote her rap for Love to hate me and she again wasn’t credited and I believe the producer or one of the other writers said that Lisa had participated in writing her own rap part, she wrote her own rap for the cover of Sure Thing that they did along with Jennie, she also wrote her rap for their cover of So Hot along with Jennie as well. Instruments wise she learned how to play the ukulele. Apart from all of that she’s been a very skilled dancer which makes sense considering she’s been dancing since she was 3-4yrs old, so she’s most definitely musically driven. Personality wise she’s known for being bubbly and a sunshine. In conclusion all Blackpink members are musically driven and have worked very hard to not only stay in the company but make it to debut. I’d also like to add, one of a trainee requirement is that you must know how to write your own raps/songs, if you don’t know then they’ll teach you so by the time they debut they are able to participate in music. Pt.1
Pt.2 Now let’s talk about yg, you might be thinking “well if it’s required to write why aren’t they credited” and the answer to that it’s bc yg is misogynistic. Again you might be wondering how do we know that, well let’s look at 2NE1 and how he treated them compared to his boy groups and how he screwed them over till the end of their career. CL a member of 2NE1 was the member who stayed the king in yg and stayed after the group disbanded. She barely released any music, she was also the one who called out yg to the media for them not credit her in any song she’s participated in and not only that but a lot of western artists in the US actually wanted to collaborate with her and want to know what happened? Yg would hook them up with her and would use her to have those western artists collaborate with his male artists. Yg has a history of treating his girl groups like crap and sadly 2NE1 were even said to their face by yg that they were ugly, one of the members even got plastic surgery done fell into depression bc of it and had medicine to help her cope with her depression but those “drugs” weren’t allowed in Korea and what did yg do? He threw her under the bus. Now let’s talk about how this affects Blackpink. The whole yg wanted Blackpink to be a copy of 2NE1 but he wanted them to be pretty was more a mistranslation. He was talking about their concept which kind of doesn’t makes sense mainly bc if you listen to both artists music it sounds nothing alike. The only thing that is similar is the whole “badass” image that they have and sadly the whole pretty part was true (he’s an ass Ik). Anyways Blackpink until recently have started to get credit for their music. He honestly couldn’t care less about Blackpink and it shows since out of all his groups Blackpink gets the least music and comebacks so the whole “yg strategy” in the video isn’t true, he just treats his female groups like crap. It’s funny bc Blackpink is by far his most successful group and artist overall and yet makes no effort to push them more forward and treat them better. Yg entertainment is actually one of the more less strict entertainment (a lot of companies are starting to this way too) but the reason why Blackpink have lack of creative freedom it’s bc he doesn’t care for them. Blackpink have worked SO hard to debut as an idol only to get the bare minimum and yet they are one of the most demanded artists outside Korea and everyone wants to work with them. Blackpink is about to hit their 5yr anniversary and yg came out with this whole “4+1 project” for their 5yr mark and the reveal of the 5 part project has been extremely disappointing. The first thing that they revealed was a movie, basically Blackpink looking back of their 5yrs, basically a documentary which is nice but when we saw the trailer a lot of the clips seemed to behind the scenes of their online concert that they had earlier this year that we’ve already seen so many of us are hoping that the movie actually isn’t like that at all. The other part of the project is Blackpink joining this app called Weverse that was created by Hybe labels (which big hit is under)but it’s not exciting bc we already knew months ago that they were joining the app around this time. The other 2 parts of the project is a Photobook album (yes we have more photobook abums than music albums..sad Ik) which is something they release almost with every cb so this isn’t new and the other one is a Summer diary which is released annually so again nothing new. We still have one more part of the “project” to be revealed but so far it seem like nothing new is being provided for the fans which the company said it was for and not only that but everything so far you have to buy, nothing is free so far. I’ve never gone to be so excited for something to be so disappointed in it as quickly as this. Anyways for an update on their music, yes they do have an album…yes ONE album, the have 2 mini albums which are all great and apart from Jisoo wrapping up her kdrama and Blackpink anniversary, Lisa is preparing for her solo debut which is meant to be sometime in August. Anyways I hope I cleared things up for you and I agree fuck yg and honestly most of us blinks stay bc apart from their good music but also bc the girls themselves are the best and we know their struggles but ofc it’s up to you if you want to continue to check them out, I don’t blame you if you don’t want to continue to check them out but I hope you know that these girls have worked hard and till this day work hard as artist even with the mistreatment.
Not a huge Blackpink fan but I follow most of their musical releases and I think what keeps me from being a fan is the lack of music. Blackpink just had their 5th anniversary and so far they have multiple singles, a couple of mini albums, and one full album (more like an Ep with 8 songs) making it a total of 25 original songs if I am not mistaken in 5 full years. The girls have personality, charisma, and talent and they have also mentioned how they actually wanted to write music and do their own thing and I think they are not given that creative freedom, only in their recent single was Jennie allowed to write her own rap verse and produce a bit and that is basically 1 song from 25 releases. That is just wild to me and as someone who really loves music and the way it is a vessel for self-expression and artistic outlet it just rubs me the wrong way how YG is just set on creating an image and not just music that can resonate with millions. The fans as far as I can see are also very frustrated about this whole 'marketing strategy" if you can even call it that and honestly the idea of selling Blackpink as "exclusive" in my opinion is stupid. Because from their old reality show, I can see that the girls are fun and genuine and nice, they are relatable, but also in their music they can come off as fierce and strong, they are not just one-dimensional beings and if they are allowed to translate all that into their craft and just connect with fans instead of being "untouchable" like YG wants I think they can grow way beyond than this and actually leave a mark.
I just wish BLACKPINK had more freedom. I think I need to dig deeper on this one.

I beg to differ.
true... 2ne1 is not as popular as BP even individually
@@patnat6886 you’re horribly misled
You're fooling yourself if you think American pop groups are manufactured any differently.
good point!
-> At 63M subscribers, BLACKPINK is officially:
the #1 most subscribed female artist EVER, the #1 most subscribed group EVER, and the #2 most subscribed artist EVER (only behind Justin Bieber by a few million, but judging at their pace, they'll pass him before 2021 ends).
Yes, this whole concept is very strange to me.
I think if you watch Light Up the Sky (it's only about 1 hour 20 minutes) it will answer many of your questions about them and who they are.
yes I agree 😭 and BLACKPINK The Movie coming out soon too. Still salty about it not premiering in theaters in my country though 🥲
I'm genuinely hoping he gonna read this one too...
All blackpink members play instruments
Jisoo: korean drums
Jennie: flute and guitar
Lisa: ukelele
Rosé: Piano, Guitar electric and acoustic
all blackpink members write but not all have had credits
Rosé wrote and composed two songs on her mini album
Jisoo along with Jennie participated in the writing of Lovesick Girls, Jennie also participated in the composition
Jennie participated in the lyrics of "solo", her song as soloists.
Jennie also wrote a new rap for the remix of this song
Jisoo has also written the lyrics for her covers, such as Clarity and Habits
Lisa composed and wrote the lyrics for her cover of Say So
Just a reminder: Do not compair BTS with black Pink.
They really don't share many similarities other than singing in Korean and being a group😅
DON'T JUDGE GIRLS FOR COMPANY ACTIONS
They have sacrificed their youth, their studies, their family in what they are doing now ...
obviously they want more song but their work is limited by the agency (they signed contracts so they can't always do whatever they want to do)
In Korea the only way to become a singer is to join a company no matter if it's YG company or another company (it's almost a rule in kpop)
THERE ARE SEVERAL STEPS BEFORE BECOMING A KPOP IDOL
You must first audition, then after having passed the audition you become a trainee (Jennie 6 years of training, Rosé 4 years of training, Jisoo 5 years of training, Lisa 5 years of training) several years of training during which you practice singing, dancing, learning languages, instruments and many more .... evaluations every month, other fail and others pass ... all this in the end to be selected only 10 or 9 or in Blackpink case only 4 among all the company trainee
If their clothing (on stage), their brand, their music video and their show is controlled by their company ...
BP has always shown their true personality to their fans,
You would even be shocked to know how much fans know about their behavior, taste, preference and more.
they are just human like you and me !!!!
Your judgment is quick but I don't blame you because all this is new for you,
I hope your anger is directed by those who want to control them and not themselves
(these girls have dreams and they just wanna live their dream)
That's all for me, bye
😃 This is what Tushar Apte said during his interview,
Question: Was the first draft you submitted instantly approved or did the members share their feedback with you to rework on?
Sure maybe this will put things into perspective for me.

dude, remember it's a "fan made" video, not everything's true
not really his youtube channel is asian theory...u can watch properly over there
I know it's absolutely frustrating strategy.
You are right. Maybe I’m not looking at Kpop from the right angle. Thanks for sharing.
"Girl crush" is basically the "badass" concept. The exact opposite of the "cutesy" concept.
Yeah. I learn a little bit about that and what I realize that is simular to all the "girl crush" concepts in different girl groups is the "visuals" how they look and the swag they have very "sexy" and yeah like you said "bad**"
i guess you need to see their real documentary blackpink from netflix thats explain what you want 😂
Very good reaction I love your honesty and your frankness. Too bad for the girls that they do not have all the freedom for the production and the writing.
Didnt jennie write "stay"?
Excuse my long comment.=)
I don't make music, but as a listener I'm not a big fan of the idea that you aren't a good singer unless write lyrics and play instruments.
🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭 Blackpink is thr product

Also, if you want to see the girls' individual talents, please watch Jennie's SOLO song, Rose's 2 songs Gone and On The Ground and Lisa's Lili films #1-4.
I guess I just don’t know enough about k pop in general.
@@JimGames don't worry, you will get to know more little by little. Don't stress yourself.
You know being an Idol takes years of trainning... being talented without having great marketing team is just a waste of talent.
Actually YG is way better compared to other KPOP company.
You should check out other guides cause this one it's not that good, it's confusing and I personally don't like the way they explained a few things
Dude, welcome to the industry of kpop
Only yg can do that 😂
Starved his their fans to be more popular than expected
Interesting. I really wish this video would have touched on that fact. Thanks for letting me know.
@@JimGames you're in luck.
The documentary on Netflix called "BLACKPINK Light Up The Sky" answers most of your questions.
They also have a movie coming out on August called "BLACKPINK The Movie" in theaters all over the world. It goes over their journey as a group.
It's good that they at least let them take part of there solo work
@@JimGames Their company doesn't give credit even when they participate despite them bringing up they contribute to the process this has been a problem many fans have with the company and even calling them sexist because this doesn't exist under their boy groups. and currently Blackpink is their only girl group they disbanded 2ne1 when Blackpink came onto the scene.
So when Blackpink started nobody knew they contributed anything it was only a few years in they started letting it slip in interviews where the contributed things or others that worked with the group mentioned this and again this was before the 2019 CEO change you notice this was just after that and they still referred to YG as he (his name is yang-hyun suk and he's called YG same as the company name) and not the company,
if you take a close look at the group things have changed, even their demeanor seems different in interviews and actions Rosé for example was in the studio and just decided to hold a 30 minute mini concert on Instagram playing guitar and piano with Black Label producer playing guitar as well she covered 4 songs laughed joked and it's still up on her IG previously under the old CEO she only posted 1 minute or so clips of herself playing something.
@@liam854 wouldn’t that literally be illegal?
(Example: Jennie: 6yrs, Lisa & Jisoo: 5yrs & Rosé: 4yrs)
They use this time to learn new skills & hone their skills they already had while auditioning. Everything is paid for & the training & rules are rigorous (also varies my company). So all groups are talented in their own right & have their own personal stories/journey. (Example: some have college degrees, some are still in high school while working, & some play instruments etc.)
Overall what I’m saying is it’s not as black & white as this fan made video made it seem,
Blackpink members know how to write music and compose songs (they learned while trainees), its just a matter of are they always credited by YG? There have been times where Jennie has said she worked on “Stay” (there’s no credits), they’ve said they sat on the couch w/ their main producer Teddy (also Teddy is a friend they confide in him & he knows them well) & brainstormed ideas together , Jennie& Jisoo have been credited on their most recent album, Jennie rewrote her rap in her solo song for their concert, & recently Rosé helped write lyrics for both of solo songs released this February. If you decide to dive deeper you’ll see them mention it.
Last but not least recommendations lol:
Blackpink’s Netflix documentary: Light Up the Sky, it’ll explain a little more about Kpop, their personal stories, and their career (they also have a movie coming out on August 4th).
Zach Sang Show: Rosé’s solo interview for her recent solo work (she’ll tell you her creative process) & Blackpink’s group interview during their first time being in America after Coachella.
P.S. I’ll leave some group recommendations in another comment, this is already too long lmaooo
P.P.S. Girl Crush is basically just a group concept, its used in Kpop to describe cool, sassy, cocky, fierce etc. etc. girl groups, it’s a broad & encompassing term opposite from a cuter concept.
Maybe you should watch their documentary in netflix. And they have a movie now you should also check it out
The simple thing to understand is YG is artist management, this company searches for a person with skill and talent and then making sharp their potency with technique, knowledge, practicing, and also make a weekly, monthly evaluation, they call this person a trainee.
You can’t judge people or their decisions from a single perspective and one persons point of view lols.

LISA WRITES HER RAP. SHE IS HUMAN BARBIE. RAPPER BARBIE 💗💗
SHE ALSO THE BEST DANCER. LISA IS LOVED
I think you have misunderstood totally the video 😂
They are not a clone of other project they are like their seniors 2nd generation group from the same entertainment company
Great reaction and i share the same thoughts as you Jim.
It's more harder to be a KPOP idol you are lucky if you have extra talent...they have to trained for many years not knowing if they debut or not that's why many fans attached also supporting them cause we all know how hard they went through
You're looking at this from a western point of view.. they are a kpop group the k industry is so different from the west.
Please react to “An introduction to the seven members of BTS” by Ida S.💜💜💜
When they said a carbon copy ...they doesn't mean a clone...but a group came from the same company , and have a same four member ..that's all blackpink music is totally different from 2ne1 , and they didn't got those huge views because of 2ne1 ..they got these positions by working hard and being themselves ... You're taking it very negatively making a girls look like talentless ...u are thinking that girl are nothing without their company...let me tell you they are all individually talented and have proved already ...you need to research more and make a comment on girls thank you
They do write their musics!!!
This here is a different country, different culture and kind of different industry, I really hope and wish that the girls will find their path to freedom or to better management.
you're seem genuinely concerned about them. but no worries, all BLACKPINK members a millionaires already.
Black Pink does have an album, The Album. Lisa has her own channel where she puts out her own content. It’s not as manufactured as you think it is.
their popularity was fast, because one of many factors that they are from YG (one of part of Big 3 along side with SM and JYP ent). of course they are so talented, but debut from big 3 label is privellege because easy access to media exposure. thats the reason general public know them quickly with "big label" reputation and support from industry.
youtube views in 24 hours basicly like another BTS vs Blackpink (?) many people thaught like that. for now, Butter hold the record with 108 in 24 hours.
They have to train for 5-6 years for achieving this
I think it will be a bit naive to believe or think that 4 young girls could have produced all those fantastic music videos and had their own resources to achieve what they have today.
I hope you get what I'm tryna say pls don't hate me 😅
@@mediocritycentral he did call them that !
I don't really agree with blackpink being a carbon copy of 2NE1, I personally feel like they are very different
I just love lisa so much
there are alot of personal videos for each one of them
Success comes with hardwork and sacrifice. Can't have best of both worlds, be recognised with fame worldwide and the freedom to do things like in your own garage.
2ne1 didn't disband because of BP.. not because they were ugly..at that time... They we're involved in many scandals that led them to disbandment...And I think You took the word "carbon copy" too
seriously... They didn't copy 2ne1 in everything...pls give Black pink some credit here...they just copied their concept which is the girl crush concept...
And those events they attended wasn't a decision made by YG...the Big companies really invited them...
I hope you read this to educate yourself about Black pink! Hope I could help!❤️
Some groups recommendations that produce or write their own lyrics for songs would Bts, Twice, Seventeen and Ateez
Twice isn't a good group to recommend for someone who just digging into kpop.

@@livvyyyys I said what I said. Can't you read english?
@@dynamitej-hopeslapmewithth4976 why not they're great
@@marirezende8478 yes they are great but you know most western people love to listen hype song or something like that. And since this is the first impression to kpop then it's better if it can something than can impress him. Most western people think kpop as a bubble gum with all those cute hello kitty type which isn't. So yeah twice won't be a good impression for someone who just got into kpop. That's it.
Teddy Park is a genius. He has created every Blackpink beat ever used.
What good is an art if it can't be sold
I love your reaction.. It's genuine,
You can also react to their solos cause it was written by them...
I feel like you will really relate to the lyrics :)
Also, if you want to get to know other girl groups with more "artistic integrity" I recommend to you:
- Mamamoo: probably the most important group when it comes to female empowerment in the last 10 years.
I think this video clip lead you to some misunderstanding.
Girl crush is the label given to a girl group that is somewhat darker and edgier than the cutesy concept that a lot of them get.
Ahhhh, BTS DID paved the way
Yeah Blackpink was so popular from the start
Yg right now plays the best card today yg best card is lisa we have to understand blackpink has less songs than other group even they have less song they very very busy persons actually yg take care the girls. I dont think thier will be other group can match blackpink just to match talent specialy lisa yg is just management company a talent company any one can hire thier talents
2ne1 is Blackpink's older sister, they are in the same company that is YG entertainment
U should react to CL of 2ne1, sheis so fire 🔥🔥🔥🤘🏼
Pt.1
Pt.2
Now let’s talk about yg, you might be thinking “well if it’s required to write why aren’t they credited” and the answer to that it’s bc yg is misogynistic.
I think you would like Blackpink Light up the sky on Netflix better
Who's gonna tell him?
What?
@@bethzymaciasramirez5325 everything!
