Thanks! Trust me, the salt is strong. That's why I dismantled it so long ago. And even then, it was so brutal, then when I revisited that old list to make this episode, I didn't even need to make so many changes to the deck. Maybe like 10 cards? And only because they were strictly better upgrades.
Omg, we have the same idea ! I built sth similar to this too, a staxy control deck with minimal creatures. Though, the way my oloro wins is through infinite extra turn combos (kefnet + extra turn spell + scroll rack for example) and not that big on the life gain aspect. Recently also added the one ring and blackmarket connection, the deck is just sick overall !
Nice! Yeah, this was a deck I built in 2013 and disassembled it in 2014 - I'm pretty sure it didn't live for a whole year. Even though my playgroup had a competitive mentality, it was too oppressive even there. I slightly updated it for this video, but then again this video is quite old as it is 😅 So there are definitely a plethora of new cards that are an amazing fit for a creatureless Oloro build. The One Ring being one of them. Absolutely busted in Oloro.
LOL I love these type of decks. I made a very similar oloro build 2 years ago with Ulamog, Infinite Gyre and Avacyn, Angel of Hope as my only 2 creatures. Our games became so long, my play group resorted to land destruction to stop me from durdling. Norn's Annex is outstanding in this deck. It's amazing how far people will go to attack you with anything. 😂
Definitely! What's great about it is that white is seen as such a weak color that fewer people run white than any other color. So they end up paying 2 life per creature to it more often than not.
Some more great cards to add to this deck are Gideon's Intervention: Name a creature, that creature can't be cast or deal damage to you. Since you name it, this gets around hexproof/shroud and allows you to ignore one voltron deck Imprisoned in the Moon: Basically turns a creature a Wastes, another great way to get around a voltron, while giving you a bit more political edge over Intervention Minimus Containment: Basically turns a creature into a Treasure. Not as good as Imprisoned since your opponent can just sac the creature right away, but still a great way to stop a voltron for a turn or two Overwhelming Splendor: Basically just worse Humility, but this will open up the board to allow you to run creatures if you want. Cosmos Elixir: This ones kinda iffy since you need 40+ life to trigger it, but free draw is free draw Well of Lost Dreams: Allows you to draw whenever you heal to dig for those defenses faster Alhammarret's Archive: Doubles your healing, and doubles most of your draw Elixir of Immortality: Basically prevents you from losing by mill Crawlspace: Limits the max creatures that can attack to two, meaning even infinite mana can't let opponents swing with everything Silent Arbiter: A creature so take that with a grain of salt, but it makes it so only one creature can swing per turn. Teyo, The Shieldmage: Give YOU hexproof while also slapping down some walls Kaya, Bane of the Dead: Lets you throw removal at opponents creatures even if they have hexproof Djeru, With Eyes Open: Lets you dig for your planeswalkers, and keeps them safer if your opponents swing at them Approach of the Second Sun: Even if you never play it the second time, this card will pretty much force your opponents to hang on to their counterspells, giving you free reign Rule of Law: This hurts you too, but it slows the game to a crawl and absolutely demolishes decks that rely on dumping spells every turn Replicating Ring: Usually this is a pretty bad mana rock, but since you're in for the long con, you'll get its tokens at least once, giving you unparalleled mana
All great suggestions! Thanks for taking the time to type all of that up! However, as for Djeru, I'm not really going to run any other creature here besides Clever Impersonator.
@@TheCommanderTavern Thanks for the reply! I really want to make an Oloro deck, but it gets quite expensive quite fast. I know you were going for a 0 creature deck, I only mentioned Djeru cuz I was digging through some of my cards and found it as you were going over the planeswalkers so I thought it would be a good addition. I'm just surprised a creator responded to a comment on a nearly 2 year old video lol
@@trevorkroon2163 I always respond to all of my comments :P In any case, if I don't, it's probably because TH-cam blocks me from seeing it or something so I can't respond to what I don't see ;)
Whoa! That's a huge compliment! Thanks a lot! This was my pride and joy back in the day. Glad to see it's still got it so many years later :) May it R.I.P.
As I mentioned in the video, this was the very first commander deck I built. I bought the precon because I liked Oloro and his effect. I had always played WB so adding U, which is the most powerful color in Magic, I figured I could make a strong deck. I added a bunch of stax cards I already had in my collection and other decks I wasn't using. But the deck was WAY too oppressive for my playgroup to the point where they refused to play against it. So I bought the UBR one and built Nekusar. It wasn't as oppressive but still pretty strong back then. Then I built Polukranos and that was a deck more on level. I ended up taking it apart because I needed the money and some of its pieces had really spiked in price; plus I wasn't using it. I do miss it, though. The nostalgia of it being my first commander deck.
Not necessarily "if opponent has platinum angel and angel of grace" it would be tie, if you manage to remove the enchantment after leaving them with -1billion life :)
What do you think about Dissipation Field for the deck? It may not destroy threats like how No Mercy does, but it can disrupt Indestructible creatures and it effects all permanents.
Dissipation Field is great and I ran it for while at the beginning of the deck. However, it helps out opponents with returning creatures to their hand that have enter-the-battlefield triggers, which is something that's way more common now in the format. I also ran Aurification since it also bypasses indestructible. However, players would just wait until they'd be able to deal me lethal to then attack. Sure, it bought me time, but it wasn't enough of a deterrent.
Dissipation field works really well with mana vault but yeah, a lot of opponents deck benefit from it. It's a good team card with Bobo because if Bobo is in danger, they can throw a land at you in order to avoid command zone tax.
@@nagekun Yeah, it's amazing for things like Mana Vault but it's more common for the Yarok, Brago, Roon, Chulane, etc. player to take more advantage from it. So I just don't risk it.
Curious to know if there's a 2022 edition given that there are new toys to play with since this video's inception. My pet card these days has been Solitary Confinement
Oloro's decklist is definitely something I can revisit sometime in the future when I have a bit more time. Even though I disassembled mine in real life, it's such a great deck. I can see myself updating it, for sure.
A few spicy combos with a deck like this is enchanted evening/aura thief, top/citadel/reservoir, solemnity/decree of silence. Also with enchanted evening in play is tech with greater auramancy.
@@TheCommanderTavern Please re update this creaturless masterpiece! want to update my Oloro deck, and strugling, to build this one in the video, but I am sure that you will have some great insights for this year!

Welcome to the Commander Tavern! Thanks! Glad you found it helpful to build your own deck with :) Those swaps are pretty decent. The video is quite old and it was based on a deck that was already quite old (and decommissioned) so I'm glad you were able to add your own tweaks to it.
Moat is definitely an amazing card in this deck and the only reason I didn't mention it is because I didn't have it when I built this deck so long ago and because it's currently a $600 card. Same with Invoke Prejudice. When it was legal, I didn't mention it because of its hefty price tag. Island Sanctuary is a great substitute for Moat if you're able to draw cards via other means.
You're thinking about Retether. Replenish brings back ALL enchantments. The only caveat to the auras is that they won't return if there's nothing they can enchant.
Control my Dino Deck will have a word with you oloro hehe Thanks Rhytm of the Wild + Dromoka to say fuck you all Controll decks add that with ny raptor which says no lifegain and we have fun time oh and btw hope you dont mind when i swing with etali on other player to just get your stuff in worst of the cases twice

The Night of soul's humility combo made me gasp, never even thought of that!
