Floyd seems to enjoy the desperation to survive or thrive (adrenaline, uncertainty of survival, etc.), while Jade seems to enjoy people making a fool of themselves in their day to day. Floyd's is much more self-centered, both of himself, and of others. (Something about getting left behind if you don't keep up being the trio's motto). I think Floyd's perspective on the trio's motto is a more individualist, survivor's understanding, what with the cutthroat danger of the sea. Meanwhile Jade's take on it is less on the uncertainty of survival, and more on the certainty of sticking together (they'll all stay friends, and make that effort, and make somewhat of a fool of themselves in the process). That's why Floyd would have left the trio in his dream, aiming for higher heights, while Jade would have stayed with the trio, watching them trip over themselves in his dream (for his entertainment). Of course, this isn't to say that both Jade and Floyd are sadists in different fashions, but to say that both are a lot more similar than at first glance (an observation that took until this chapter for me to better realize😭😭😔) It's just kinda interesting how Jade's 'dream' fits the personality and voice of Floyd, and vice-versa! I think part of Floyd leaving is that the dream is sort of hard wired to be perfect, so the dream versions of Azul and Jade would inevitably become boring. It's important to note that Floyd gets big mad when the fake Azul and Jade show up and start trying to get him to stay and have a peaceful life in the dream, because he knows that that's something that neither of them would ever actually be satisfied with.

Though I guess it could be a skill difference between Cater and Floyd as well as Cater's Unique Magic, since that is how Cater did defeat him in the end. It almost makes me wonder, though, if Cater could be more powerful than we know, like how Trey's Unique Magic is more powerful than we originally knew, even if the effects are short.
