There will always be a bottleneck at some point. If you can get the frame rate you want a bottleneck isn't a negative thing that needs to be fixed. It's just how your system operates.

The point here is that at 1440p the bottleneck against a 7800X3D is huge (you're losing 20% frame rate pairing this GPU with 4080 Super). You could get the same frame rates and 1%'s using a RTX 4080 or even a 4070 Ti while saving hundreds of dollars (or euros in Europe). More than "if you can get the frame rate you want" the real statement is "Do you need to spend so much in this card when a much cheaper Vcard would perform exactly the same?".

Thank you for a great video, especially with the preceding video "5600X vs 5800X3D - Was Upgrading Worth It?" Highly appreciated if you do a video on swapping back to 5600x.
I am in a similar situation, having upgraded from a 2080Ti to 4080 Super and swapped 5600x for 5800x3d. But just swapped back again and made some short and fast "not so scientific measurements".
    I run 1440p ultrawide.
In MS Flight Sim (from LaGuardia airport over NYCity from the north) with TAA and frame generation, rendering at 150% resolution and then downscaling to native I get a super sharp image (with DLSS it gets blurry). It gave me approx 70fps (~20% improvement over 5600x). But it also gave me 60fps in the 1%low, which is a massive improvement over 5600x. Tried some other settings, and the gold is in the 1% and 0.1% low. But having that said, MSFS is playable with both cpu's.
Another not so optimized (alpha) game, Star Citizen, did not at all show these gains.
Red Dead Redemption gave massive improvements (TTA High) while God of War and Battlefield 1 (both in ultra and native resolution) is very close even though 5800x3d still has better lows. But all of the 3 games run just fine regardless of cpu.
Is it worth the upgrade? Gennerally yes, but it depends on the use case and I am still not sure... Would love to see your results!

It's funny that Nvidia change the name of their lineup from GTX to RTX because of "hardware RT" support, and yet you still need beefy CPU for "playable" RT rendering (without DLSS). This tells me that RTX cards or the built in hardware for RT functionality, is really of a RT "assist" because if it was full RT processing, you shouldn't need a decent CPU. Good video but missing a few details.
General rule of thumb you check at 1080p first for CPU bottleneck. Lower the resolution the more the CPU works. Higher the resolution harder the GPU works.
Also need to keep track of 1% lows as they will vary wildly and need to be documented.
Lastly comparing CPU and GPU milliseconds really isn’t an indicator of much and even if the CPU is only showing 30% usage it can still be bottlenecking badly. Older Dual and Quad cores would show high usage but today’s modern 6 and 8 core CPU’s you don’t get the same usage due to so many more cores.
Just a FYI even a 3080 bottlenecks a 5800X3D so keep that in mind.
From what I’ve learned in the many decades of building PC’s is if a CPU came out in 2020 and you want to use a high end card 80/90 series then you need to wait 2-4 CPU generations to fully utilize the GPU as CPU’s and RAM have been the limiting factors for a very long time.

You don't have to "go with the times", you just don't drink the Kool-Aid as easily. We are yet to see if RT or PT can make something look noticeably better. Even if it could obviously be seen without guessing and side-by-side comparisons, then it would still look only different. The rest is marketing telling people that they should think it looks better. And enough of them is susceptible enough for this carousel to go around. I'm sure if this goes this way, finally there will be titles in the future that can actually show something that won't be able to be done similarly well in raster, because it would be too difficult and time-consuming, so no on would like to put in the effort. But in the end, these are just the same pixels on a screen. What color they have, due to what calculations are being done, is all that it is. And I personally would really like this to be game-changing. For now at least, it's not.

lol nah 7900XTX always beats out the 4080 S. 4080 S AIB only barely compete with the reference version of the 7900XTX. getting an AIB 7900XTX and enabling SAM with the 5800X3D is going to give you a massive performance gain over this combo. and no SAM and ReBAR are not used the same way ReBAR only gives you access to 256MB of memory where as SAM gives you access to the entire memory.

The 7900XTX is a poor card when it comes to Ray Tracing. So if you use RT then none of the AMD cards are worthwhile purchases. Also DLSS is a much better upscaler than FSR 2.

@@xbox360J You say blurry because you use FSR 2.0 on AMD cards which is pretty bad, nah tbh it is just crap upscaling, DLSS Quality looks better in so many games in 4K than native than 4K TAA. Try DLSS before you think it's it's blurry because it is actually really good. New games are simply not gonna play well in 4K even on a 4090, have you tried Alan Wake 2 yet in your glorious 4K native, it runs like crap on youur 7900XTX doesn't it?
I don't get the whole I have to play every game in native 4K because a 7900xtx is not gonna play new AAA games at 4K well especially if you use modern lighting such as Ray Tracing and Path Tracing ,that cards is overpriced and mediocre with these settings.
BTW I am using a 42 inch OLED so I can see good image quality.

Basically the same fps in warzone as mine 12700k+6900xt... well I would say for now it is about 20fps lower because I dont play at strictly minimum perf settings. And why do u run at the edge of the the map without anything, that is like an ocean view/sky view... dont do a Jufes, it is not realistic gameplay scenario.

I also have a 5800X3D and the RTX 4080 Super is heavily bottlenecked by this CPU even at 1440p in most games. Compared to a 7800X3D it loses around 20% FPS at that resolution on average.
