- The Benny Hill Show was a British comedy television show starring Benny Hill. There were various incarnations of the show between 15 January 1955 and 30 May 1991, and it aired in over 140 countries.

Jenny Lee Wright WAS a Babe, a real Babe like most of them were, back in the day. Not a tattoo in place, no body piercing, no swearing and not naked. Just a classy Babe, very talented too, and simply stunning, where did they all go too?
Guess we all know, love this sketch with Benny Hill, another genius much maligned, as we all know, , how sad. Sorry its long, nice to say what you want to say, for a change.

Far better used on "TBHS" than Carol Cleveland on "Monty Python's Flying Circus," if you were to ask me. Ms. Lee-Wright to me was up there with, say, Christine McIntyre in Three Stooges' two-reelers, especially in the period pre-1952 when Hugh McCollum's unit was shut down, director Ed Bernds left the studio, and Jules White did all short subjects at Columbia until that whole department was ended in 1957. Like Ms. McIntyre in, say, "Brideless Groom," Jenny was not afraid to "get physical" if the script called for it.
Absolutely brilliant. The lefty liberal wokes would be wetting their beds at Benny Hill.

One of the cleverest sketches I've seen Benny do - superbly written and performed by both with a level of creepiness which remains really funny. We don't have humour or comedy like this today. Watch Benny's left eye at 3.46

Definitely one of his best. If you wish to see another of his finest ever clever sketches, look up here "Benny Hill Bo Peep :Nursery Rhyme Interpretations (1973)", and go to his Shakespeare version at time: 8:40. Absolutely fantastic. So creative.
I agree about the writing. It’s outstanding but no one would want to acknowledge that nowadays. And Benny’s facial expressions, especially his eyes, are just plain brilliant.
Creepiness is not funny for me.
At 4:00 Benny messed up his lines and she had to over compensate. Nicely done. 👍

I still remember that catchphrase, "Learning all the time!" I've been saying it in a foreign accent for almost fifty years and no one has ever understood what it was - this is the first time I've seen it since the day of transmission.

Haha! I have always loved "Learning all ze time!". It's basically a pervy Englishman pretending to be foreign so that he can touch pretty girls. Can't blame him. This was an age when Political Correctness didn't exist and we could all enjoy a bit of bawdy and vaguely sexy fun. I miss those days. I'm sure Political Correctness is why British people aren't pro-creating as much now.

Interesting Ms. Lee-Wright played the same role in both this and the 1982 color remake; here she looked more like an ingenue, whilst in the later version, while still gorgeous, she had more of a worldly air to her.

This sketch is obviously meant to depict someone sleazy and opportunistic. Yet the people who have banned Benny Hill from the airwaves somehow deduced that we fans all approved of the character's actions. As with Alf Garnett, the public was not trusted to watch something and make up their own mind about it, or to differentiate between satire and approval - we had to have it taken away lest we poor weak-minded fools be corrupted.
Alf Barnett and the show were far worse than Hill in terms of subject matter Carol O,Connor should be in the mix too. Today we are treated like children when it comes to watching what we want to watch -------- lest we upset the feminists the Muslims and a plethora of other groups. Welcome to the Nanny State
@@michaelnaisbitt1639 - So, in a way, were the Pythons worse than Hill. Ever seen the "Dirty Vicar" sketch lately? Or the visitors sketch where John Cleese who played a boorish lout (or loutish boor, same thing) who ended up reducing Carol Cleveland to tears? Those were the kind of things you wouldn't be seeing Benny doing in that sense on his show.

Almost all of Benny's sketches were self-deprecating - he was always portraying a loser or cad, and usually getting the short end of things...but folks today are too thick and self-absorbed to get it - and too SAHN-si-TAV to laugh at themselves ever....
Benny Hill was the greatest of all television comedians and a comic genius if ever there was one. Towards the end of his life his comedy was branded “sexist” and politically incorrect with the result that TV companies dropped him completely. Still today you cannot find one single television channel in the UK that will show any Benny Hill comedy repeats. TO ME, IT IS APPALLING AND UTTERLY RIDICULOUS!!!.
One person is largely to blame for that unfortunate turn in his show: Dennis Kirkland - his final producer and director.

We had colour tv in the mid 70s but some shows were still aired in Black and white.

This would be 1971. If history recalls ITV colour technicians went on strike that year, meaning a few episodes were made in black & white.
