8:35 I have that same version of Folio Scrabble and it is AWESOME. It's simply the best version of physical Scrabble there is because the way the game is designed (to keep your tiles from flying around) means you can literally "pause" the game by simply closing it, and store your tiles (the tile holders have enclosures to hold tiles and also clip into underside of the board when enclosed) for when you "unpause". It makes PERFECT SENSE to have it on space missions.
here's an idea: I thought I read somewhere that the ISS has some sort of rudimentary 3D printer on board? how about designing a ball with wind-catching dips recessed into the ball rather than the fins sticking out? That way you retain the spherical shape and might get a better curve to the ball's path...
Recreation is a necessary activity on the ISS, something small and not requiring that much materials, (the sphere can be hallow) would be both inexpensive to make, material-wise, and could result in interesting observation of aerodynamics in a zero-gravity environment. I think NASA would consider it.
Curtis Youngberg I had to design a tool for them the other day (NASA) that had to be multipurpose. It had to be a VERY PRECISE volume and it had to have certain dimensions. Long story short, they are very picky.
5:21to 5:23 lost count how many times I've watched that. That power-up sound that the airgun was making over the flaps and his expression is priceless!
To see stuff just...float...blows my mind. Like...you hear about it, you read about it...but to see someone let something go and it just...floats? So cool.
They should hold an annual lottery where one winner would get to go to the ISS (after a proper vetting and assesment, of course.) It would generate a lot more funding for NASA and give regular folks a chance to experience something world-view changing.
Steverino NASA doesn’t have to worry about funding anymore. And regular dumb people don’t need to be in space getting in the way of astronauts performing experiments.
They did that already. A lottery for school teachers to put their name in to be chosen to get to go to space on the space shuttle. It exploded with the chosen school teacher on board. Doubt they'll try that again. R.I.P Challenger crew.......
Idk if I could handle being at the space station for more than maybe a week at the most due to anxiety lol. But man I would love to be able to fly like that. Just float anywhere you want to go. wow that definatly worked, there was one on the bench and it wasnt like tht, also it said macbook on it.... i know they do that but it was so badly done that i had to ask...
JORIKON TV | We know that they're not truly in zero gravity. But saying "zero gravity" is easier than saying "falling to the earth while going super fast".
No human or celestial body will EVER experience zero gravity. We are ALWAYS influenced by gravity as long as we are in the milky way galaxy. However, they are experiencing Zero G's. Because they're basically falling, but they're going sideways so fast that they miss the ground. That's basically how orbiting works.
John Hughes You are correct about all of that. But there's one thing, you are being gravitationaly interacted upon by every single thing in this universe, no matter the distance. But the interaction between the atoms in your body and the ones outside of solar system is so small, that it's negligible.
Although the first 20 times you apparently throw up until your balance system gets used to the fact that you didn't just eat a hallucinogenic toxin and that "down" does not in fact exist anymore.
CxC2007 Wrong, there is no such thing as "0 G" everything has gravity, even you, think of it as the more mass the more gravity, thats why we are on the earth, it has alot of mass therefore we stick to the ground.
MrTuts4life Not 100% sure, the ISS, has a lot of mass, thats ok, the thing, is that there is no Atmosphere pushing it down, the ISS keeps in Space, because is actually "Falling" all the time, the thing is that the altitude is calculated to "Fall" around the Earth, and that is what generates that 0G, hope someone knows more and can give a better explanation.... anyway, thanks for yours.
3:19 "instead of shooting linearly for a target, shooting non linearly for a target" ... Gets to invent a new game that you can only play in space and you invent darts but with gravity. *sigh*.

Lol they wouldn't use the material on a toy ball.
Astronaut : Erherm...NASA...could you send the plans up for a toy ball with fins?
NASA : F*ck off
Recreation is a necessary activity on the ISS, something small and not requiring that much materials, (the sphere can be hallow) would be both inexpensive to make, material-wise, and could result in interesting observation of aerodynamics in a zero-gravity environment. I think NASA would consider it.
Curtis Youngberg I had to design a tool for them the other day (NASA) that had to be multipurpose. It had to be a VERY PRECISE volume and it had to have certain dimensions. Long story short, they are very picky.
ah, gotcha.
3D printers are expensive to use. I doubt they would use use the printer on the ISS, but maybe down here and then send it up there could work.
5:21to 5:23 lost count how many times I've watched that. That power-up sound that the airgun was making over the flaps and his expression is priceless!
To see stuff just...float...blows my mind. Like...you hear about it, you read about it...but to see someone let something go and it just...floats? So cool.
What laptop are they using? Is that an HP? I CAN'T TELL
By looking at it, I'm guessing it's a toshiba.
It's a Macbook Air
Raka Sani its a joke
Raka Sani r/whooosh
Pc gaming may work out
They should hold an annual lottery where one winner would get to go to the ISS (after a proper vetting and assesment, of course.) It would generate a lot more funding for NASA and give regular folks a chance to experience something world-view changing.
Steverino NASA doesn’t have to worry about funding anymore. And regular dumb people don’t need to be in space getting in the way of astronauts performing experiments.
Regular folks could easily mess up some equipment there. Especially if they had bad intentions to start with.
They did that already. A lottery for school teachers to put their name in to be chosen to get to go to space on the space shuttle. It exploded with the chosen school teacher on board. Doubt they'll try that again. R.I.P Challenger crew.......
Chris Hadfield is one of the nicest Canadian Astronaut I've met !
Chris, Adam and Jamie... what a trio!!!
...does any one has any clue to what brand of laptop Jamie and Adam are using?
I think its a, oh damn i don't now it was coverd pretty good
bigklrbee maybe a surfsce pro?
7:05 Speed limit haha
3:15 Adam's hands are so dirty
Idk if I could handle being at the space station for more than maybe a week at the most due to anxiety lol. But man I would love to be able to fly like that. Just float anywhere you want to go. To me that has to be the best part. Space is such a vast, amazing place that we have so much to learn about still. So darn cool. What an honor.
I don't need games, I can float around weightlessly. That's enough to keep me entertained and blow my mind.
"They don't have balls." Ah, I see.
Jojo Jamie smirks a little as soon as he says that lol
Hehe. They have a speed limit of 28000 kmh
2:52 wow I didn’t know that was a MacBook you were using what a shocking twist
I love looking at his watch, which is just floating all the time. :D
Lets eat children
Lets eat, children
Use a comma, it saves lives
Look, you have a point, but... Why here?
Missy Cat y not
@@missycat7598 but thats a comma not a point
@Waffer I'm not sure if you're joking or not.
@@missycat7598 dont make me woosh you
Great effort trying to cover up the apple logo at the begining
So...NASA hasn't discovered Playstation technology yet?
They don't dirty themselves with console peasantry
Discs and readers would be the main problem. They use gravity to process the data.
+Humph ll
The day they establish a base on the Moon... Can you imagine the lag if they want to play with people on Earth? At LEAST a 3 second delay...
+Edward256 With the tech they have, im sure they would be able to make other people laggy too, so that they can play like anyone else XD that would be cool
To be fair, there are downloadable games. Though, would have to send the console/PC up with the games pre-downloaded.
Fun... i just got an ad before the video with this astronaut hahaa
MJ_aka_Michu same
the watch bouncing around is amazing
maybe if you would have created it in a 3d printer you could have saved some more time!
did the asian guy make anyone else uncomfortable. something about his delivery on camera.
Slightly. I did a search to see if anyone else agreed XD
Guys look at 2:58 omg
What?
you didnt see what there was behind the guy?
wumbopig pigz so its science
wumbopig pigz Wow cool story, a mannequin with a cock.. big deal. Also, that "guy" is adam savage
Holy shiiit!!! A fan!!
Idk why I’ve been watching these and then I’ll drop something like I was in space expecting it to float😂
for those wondering the tapes purpose is not to hide its brand although that is what is often done but to signify its not a paid sponsorship to show off the mac products usually Gaff tape is used however the owner of the said laptop probably would not want sticky residue so electrical tape was substituted the logo doesnt have to be compleatly hidden or even indistuinguishable just in some way marked so as to denote its non sponsor status
What's the red tape for on the computer?
To censor out the brand logo of course. They wouldn't want you to know they're using an Apple Macintosh computer.
wow that definatly worked, there was one on the bench and it wasnt like tht, also it said macbook on it.... i know they do that but it was so badly done that i had to ask...
It's from keeping them from getting sued. They covered it's brand because it's not sponsored.
you can still see it tho
It's just something the mythbusters do. All branding is covered whenever possible.
Its not Zero gravity. If it was the ISS wouldn't be spinning around Earth.....Duh
But the interaction between the atoms in your body and the ones outside of solar system is so small, that it's negligible.
its what astronauts call micro gravity.
wwow being in space is a total mind fuck! its like magicccc and it must be the ultimate experience. 0 gravity bra
micro gravity there brah
Although the first 20 times you apparently throw up until your balance system gets used to the fact that you didn't just eat a hallucinogenic toxin and that "down" does not in fact exist anymore.
jai bro 0 G
CxC2007 Wrong, there is no such thing as "0 G" everything has gravity, even you, think of it as the more mass the more gravity, thats why we are on the earth, it has alot of mass therefore we stick to the ground.
MrTuts4life Not 100% sure, the ISS, has a lot of mass, thats ok, the thing, is that there is no Atmosphere pushing it down, the ISS keeps in Space, because is actually "Falling" all the time, the thing is that the altitude is calculated to "Fall" around the Earth, and that is what generates that 0G, hope someone knows more and can give a better explanation.... anyway, thanks for yours.
why is this so underrated should have more views
i got an ad that had chris hadfield in it before i watched this, coincidence? i think not!
3:19 "instead of shooting linearly for a target, shooting non linearly for a target" ...
Gets to invent a new game that you can only play in space and you invent darts but with gravity. *sigh*.
Footage on laptop screen is clearly faked.
you're fake!
It's edited to be watchable. Would you like the video to be twice as long because we have to wait for the time delay from the ISS?
Conspiracy theory, ohhhh ulimunate confirmed ! Don't you have something better to do ?
You're clearly a fake. Stop being a troll and get on with your life.
for god sake get rid of that asian.....
This is the first time I saw Jamie on tested
Commander Hadfield is so Candian! @7:25 he starts apologizing for the inconveniences of being in space. His modesty and mellow personality demonstrate true professionalism.
I love seeing Adam's face light up when Chris Hadfield starts talking about his nerdy self-designed darts thing.
