This is where it all started. Thank you so much for introducing me to breakcore. The journey through this genre has been such an amazing experience. So crazy how all this music used to sound more like noise to me. But I could tell there was something special about it, so I kept listening. And now it all makes sense. It’s all so clear.
I'm SO happy that this genre is getting as much attention as it is. Drum n Bass and its offshoots need a younger fanbase to keep it alive! Right now it feels like a bunch of old geezers making and listening to DnB lol (but just my very limited perception)
I am glad the "veterans" of these genres are very supportive and even inviting; getting into other genres of music is incredibly difficult because of the gatekeeping.

id just call it dnb, aint no way i or anyone else is gonna memorize all of these sub/genres. every dnb artist sounds unique so knowing the name of their musics genre wont really help with anything esp finding similar music. its best to simply relax and enjoy these tracks (i dont think anyone came here to deep dive music if that gives my comment more sense but if someone did then hopefully your comment will help)
@@qxxanael you're right tho, drumfunk, liquid, Darkstep, and technoid all fall under dnb anyways, so it ain't wrong to call them all dnb, except jungle tho, you can't really mistake dnb and jungle, if you're an active listener anyways if you're just getting into this type of music, that's fine, no one really cares usually, as long as you're not spewing out misinformation anyways that's usually where I see arguments happen, granted, not in every case, like this one seems like an honest mistake to begin with, tho it still kinda causes a snowball effect I mean, breakcore community is chill and all but it's kinda cringe (for lack of a better word) to misrepresent the genre, especially given how dedicated people in the scene can be,
I've only seen mislabeling of the genre happen within the last two ish yrs also, which is to say, it's blowing up and with it, new listeners, and like I said it's fine that more people listen, but idky (I do know why, people don't like being wrong) they always get so defensive whenever someone gives genuine information (not always obviously, there's plenty of people who genuinely get invested in the scene, and ask for more) Anyways, it doesn't matter either way at the end of the day, the information is there for anyone who wants it

if you played PS2 era games-- odds are that the games you played had licensed or original music that were heavy on drums and synths, were drum and bass, or were in an analogous music genre (jungle, breakcore, house, techno). Some examples would be racing games (Need for Speed, Midnight Club, Forza, etc.), Metal Gear Solid 2 had some similar music (Yell Dead Cell) and other games around that time too. Also, a lot of cartoons and saturday morning shows had heavily synthesized beats (another commenter mentioned Powerpuff Girls as an example).

oh wait,, nvm now i found out why i felt so familiar with breakcore and made me nostalgic, i was playing a few days ago Bomberman Hero (N64), a game i haven't played in years, and i hadn't realized that the ost of the game is DnB/Jungle (there are some bangers btw), those characteristic sounds being used in breakcore was also what made me feel like i already knew this genre/subgenre.

I know the title isn't 100% right but i don't care because music is made to be listened to not to assign it a genre(in my opinion). Anyway thanks for the comment.
@@04kno that's a fair opinion in all honesty, although not to discredit you, mislabeling genres still counts as categorising music, I didn't have ill intent in my original comment or this response either, I'm just tryna help anyone who's interested, bc ik there are
Also tbh this kinda helpful more so for people who deep dive music, it's not meant to start arguments or discussions, unless it's to correct what my original comment, in which, I'll gladly accept, you learn something new every day after all
id just call it dnb, aint no way i or anyone else is gonna memorize all of these sub/genres. every dnb artist sounds unique so knowing the name of their musics genre wont really help with anything esp finding similar music. its best to simply relax and enjoy these tracks
(i dont think anyone came here to deep dive music if that gives my comment more sense but if someone did then hopefully your comment will help)
@@qxxanael you're right tho, drumfunk, liquid, Darkstep, and technoid all fall under dnb anyways, so it ain't wrong to call them all dnb, except jungle tho, you can't really mistake dnb and jungle, if you're an active listener anyways
if you're just getting into this type of music, that's fine, no one really cares usually, as long as you're not spewing out misinformation anyways
that's usually where I see arguments happen, granted, not in every case, like this one seems like an honest mistake to begin with, tho it still kinda causes a snowball effect
I mean, breakcore community is chill and all but it's kinda cringe (for lack of a better word) to misrepresent the genre, especially given how dedicated people in the scene can be,
I've only seen mislabeling of the genre happen within the last two ish yrs also, which is to say, it's blowing up and with it, new listeners, and like I said it's fine that more people listen, but idky (I do know why, people don't like being wrong) they always get so defensive whenever someone gives genuine information (not always obviously, there's plenty of people who genuinely get invested in the scene, and ask for more)
Anyways, it doesn't matter either way at the end of the day, the information is there for anyone who wants it

if you played PS2 era games-- odds are that the games you played had licensed or original music that were heavy on drums and synths, were drum and bass, or were in an analogous music genre (jungle, breakcore, house, techno).
