I was once caught up in a tail back on a freeway, trying to take the next offramp. It was obvious there had been a bumper bashing at the traffic lights at the end of the offramp. I patiently crept forwards up towards the lights. As I got closer I could see an old FJ had gone into the back of a new Jetta ( Bora in Europe or UK?) The Jetta had been rear ended by the FJ and the boot lock was literally right behind the front seats; the FJ's steel bumper had been bent forwards about 400mm. As I got closer I asked the bloke standing next to the FJ how he had managed to bend his fender forwards, his response was brilliant: "it happened when I was reversing off the VW".
They put the steering back on the wrong side.. I had a windowless version of the same with a bulkhead behind the front seats in 1980 for siesmic work in Australia..no airconditioning About 8 mpg in dune country in four wheel drive..yeah. Using many over the years I can say each was different...no two went the same..
I would love to own one myself here in SC in the States if it was for sale. I am a 45 trooper fan .
I wish they still made them! Awesome job!!!!
