Kempe was one of the greatest of all musicians and conductors, and we are so fortunate that he left behind such a great legacy of superb recordings, of which this is a prime example. This stands with the Reiner, Toscanini, and Stokowski recordings as the best ever of Respighi's marvelous Roman orchestral tribute.
Kempe was one of those conductors that could always be relied on to give a great performance. We are lucky to have some very good conductors around today but not that many with the realiability of Rudolf Kempe who never disappoints.

Magnificent - with out a doubt one of the greatest ever recordings of this masterpiece.
One of my favorite recordings! I had this on vinyl but lost it. So happy you posted this classic!

Kingsway Hall, Ken Wilkinson..............say no more, the sonics are better than anything Chandos ever did. Just magnificent.
