I’ve had some good luck with these Gulp Earthworms in several stocked trout streams in East Tennessee. I usually will rig them on a seven foot ultralight spinning rod with 4lb test mono. I use a #6 Aberdeen hook with one BB split shot about three inches above. Most often I float this rig down the current under a small Trout Magnet float. Adjust the depth of the bait based on the depth of the pool your fishing. I always rig half of the Gulp worm on the Aberdeen hook “whacky” style. The trick is floating the worm just off of the bottom in the current. I’ll admit, the Gulp Earthworm is not as effective on shallow running streams and creeks. There I chose to go with a Trout Magnet on a jig under a small float, or I’ll use some Pautzke Firebait (garlic or salmon) on that same #6 Aberdeen hook rig. You can effectively carry all of this tackle in the pocket of a fishing vest while wading the stream. I appreciate your channel and your honest review of products featured in your content. Have a great one! - Tennessee Smoky

Finally caught my first trout on a trout magnet jig head. Was using a pinched crawler but still felt like an achievement.

I like the earthworms but I think the angle worms are better looking. Not to mention that they are soaked in gulp juice.

What size I that hook your using? Can I use any hook bigger than that just in case they don't get hooked really deep?

You should take those worms to the lake and do some multi species fishing.

would be way more challenging and much more realistic results if you fished trout outside of a heavily stocked pay to play creek...

I've fished those same Gulp worms in a small lake, under a small bobber, couple of split shot and cut in half, sort of how you had it rigged on your 2nd go. I couldn't keep them off the hook! I think if there was movement in the water, like in a stream setting, the whacky presentation is pretty irresistible. I'll have to try that one day. Thx for the tip!

I just picked these up today to try in my local bass and bluegill neighborhood pond. I found weightless wrapped around the hook did nothing, neither did texas rigging the same hook style. Once I took a full one and texas rigged it I was getting strikes and hook sets on gills every other cast.
I wanted to try them to see if they're close enough to real worms, seeing a box of live ones were about the same price and this is something I can just keep in my bag and not have to worry about refrigeration or anything. I like it for that but here soon I'm taking it to a trout pond and try that out

I'd like to see you try the Trout Magnet spinners. I have actually had pretty good luck fishing stocked rainbows in lakes with them so far this year. I have been playing around with adding an egg to them and using things like a 1" Gulp Alive minnow in place of the regular Trout Magnet split tail grub that comes on them with pretty good results. It seems to do great with the native Cutties that are in some of the stocked lakes I have been fishing as well. Though for castability some extra weight is required when fishing them on a lake. I would love to see your take on them, and how well they fish small streams unweighted.
