- This is the fight between Jotaro and DIO but every scene is shown almost at the exact time they happened, having much inspiration from the pace and style of the manga (thus the phrase "Manga Time") and the dialogue that counts as the characters' inner thoughts is removed.

In Jojo’s I think it makes sense. As cool as this video series is, it really undermines the dramatic weight and a lot of scenes are overly shortened. Not to mention that without dialogue it would make everyone 10 times more confused than they already are.

it makes sense given that Jotaro is the only one who can operate in Dio's otherwise invincible world of stopped time. Polnareff can bleed out (what's he gonna do? *almost* stab Dio again?), but Jotaro NEEDS to be dead.

There's a man laying down bleeding and covered in knives and one pounded into a wall, pretty sure the guy standing over them is getting arrested, maybe not charged but at least brought to the station for questioning.

This really shows how smart jojo characters are, like jotaro here for example, he's literally able to think and come up with a plan quickly while a fucking hundred year old vampire who can stop time (plus is also smart) is hunting him.
this is actually put together VERY well. good job man.
i always have a pet peeve with the camera going back and forth between expression shots, while someone is mid sword swing for example, and it makes it seem like the guy was swinging the sword for 30 seconds strait. but i loved your picture in picture method.
This is definetly only really good because we already know the inner dialogue, I'm glad they found a way to sneak in dialogue but at the same time, this is really intense :D

the monologues are what make it an actual fight. they're the most fun part of this kind of old shonen
yeah, and this is an edit to show what faster paced fights could like. If the animators decided to do it like this from the start, I imagine it would be done better and have elements of the narration in it.
Piss off, if that’s the case, old shonen sucks. So much nothing was in that dialogue, it’s insane. The OVA, for all it’s faults, at least had better pacing, and made Dio feel like a consistent threat outside of killing two main characters, one of which was probably not still at his physical peak. He’s kind of terrifying there instead of a joke in the modern version. That ability actually felt more alien and mysterious, which you probably want for the man who is waiting in Egypt all this time as a vampire trying to fully take his mortal enemy’s body. Your standard as just so low. The best parts about those early shonen were the characters and how they acted, not how they talked necessarily.
No, the monologues just make it tedious. It's like trying to watch a movie, but every action is turn based and you get unskippable adds between every few attacks that handhold you as if you couldn't possibly deduct what is going on on-screen. It really kills the vibe when the fight abruptly stops mid swing, a stupid amount of exposition gets thrown out and then the some attack is thrown again unceremoniously breaking the weird freeze-frame. I absolutely hate shonen for it. I really DON'T NEED to know what the characters are thinking about 24/7, please let their actions speak for themselves.
I just realized everytime Jotaro presses an advantage, its after he bluffs the ever living fuck out of dio. That Darby episode was not kidding.
As much as I think fights should be like this in most shows the stupid monologues are part of JoJo and it would be such a different show without them.
Without the inner monologues, Jotaro's decision to stop his own heart becomes even more impressive. Dude thought of that shit right away. XD

I think the real reason Dio lost is because he was the one trying to figure out how Jotaro's Stand works and not the other way around.

I dont usually like a lot of anime specifically because of the self-serious narration of every thought and decision, but i like JoJo because it's so over the top, it goes back and forth between parody

Holy shit this actually works really well. The pacing is a bit jarring, but it shows that you don't really need the internal monologue to follow the action.
This level of pacing does make it a bit more believable that Jonathan could somehow survive getting stabbed and later having all his blood drained. Not sure why you split up the videos though.
Anime fights if characters would stop describing every attack
This dio is honestly more intimidating with how fast he attacks on top of time stop. In the anime, he gloats more than he attacks

He definitely went easy in the first part of the fight (when he said that he wanted to compare The World to Star Platinum) but then he actually wanted to kill Jotaro and never managed to

It's literally crazy that Dio did all of this to ensure that Jotaro was dead, and Jotaro still managed to trick him.

If araki, togashi, and oda teamed up they could make the greatest piece of fiction ever created

This is the most engaging way to watch anime. They need to make them this way.
What I thought this was going to be when I saw the title was what a normal person watching this would see. No time stop. No thoughts. No stands. Possibly small bits of silence while they think.

@@monkeywheel5522 i mostly hate Araki's attitude of shitting all over his previous parts whenever he has a new one to play with.
First of all, hamon is superior to stands. It had clearly established limitations, powers and it was unique enough to consistently do crazy shit. Stands are basically play-pretend. Can't be invested into that power system when it's specifically designed to be inconsistent.
But what's worse, Araki has no respect for his own characters. Joseph (best Jojo by far) was completely humiliated in parts 3 and 4. Jotaro got just as much lobotomised after part 3.
Parts 6 and 7 were incoherent mess. Part 8 is openly schizophrenic.

Also, what's with him getting old anyway? By the end of part 2, he was the strongest hamon user in history and we know what hamon does to aging. But because Araki didn't want it anymore - "Joseph just stopped practicing". Please. He routinely used hamon in his daily life since basically birth, but suddenly just stopped practcing? Terrible writing.
Dio become more freaky when he only laugh without any monolouge... We viewer see him spewing all bullshit before he laugh but people like jotaro and polnareff just see him laughing menacingly

I definitely think Part 3 could have uses more fast paced action, but there's some things we need explained. Like when Dio gets on the ground to listen for Jotaro's heartbeat. Later parts get better about it though.
It's more of an issue in how Araki writes than the adaptation. The manga is that fast paced, and it can be as such while having dialogue because Araki knows how to use paneling to his favor. But it just doesn't translate well into animated media.
Madness combat timing
This reminds me of the death note edit where it’s just the conversation with out the thoughts and then at the end light just punches L for no reason
I think that one scene where Jotaro acts dead should not be shorten because the original one was more dramatic and tense
The lack of monologues really take away the tension and lovable personalities of these characters
I think it takes away personality, but not tension. Personally, I think it adds to the tension if anything!
Bruh, this rises the tension exponentially. Making the characters actually react to what's happening, instead of writing a diary mid-fight makes it a lot more exciting. You need to pay attention instead of being force fed tonnes of exposition every few seconds.
And regarding personality. Personality is mostly how we interact with others, so maybe you should ask for better dialogue instead of more inner monologue.
