I've been to alot of concerts and i have to say Matt singing live is mind blowing . His voice is one in a million , so unique ,so stunning . I heard guys who had obviously been dragged along say wow he is actually fantastic !!! The band were awesome also !!! My husband who was not a fan was blown away by his voice and is still talking about it !!! Much success Matt , U deserve it !!!!
This guy can sing so many different genres of music, such a wonderful voice.

This song is absolutely brilliant. It's so totally original and really stands out. I voted for Matt every week on X-Factor, and I always knew then that he had the potential to be a great star. Well, this song proves it!!! His voice is quite unique, and his delivery and presentation of every song I have ever heard him sing is always done to perfection, but this new release is nothing less than outstanding!!! What a terrific artist, what a fantastic performer. He should be proud of this.

Matt has been invited to perform at more live venues, than just about any artist around this holiday season. From Xmas light switch ons to TV and radio Christmas Specials and live concerts like the Jingle Balls. He has won almost every poll I have seen and Letters has placed high as the favorite album of the year on many polls. His concert tour for next year is almost sold out. I would say that Matt has become very well established.
He will still get where he deserves, at the top of the charts !!! I'm Brazilian and love the songs of this guy. Hugs to all. I do not know English, I use google translate, then .....

Matt has performed with most of the top young UK pop acts at various venues in the last week. Matt is the one who gets the biggest audience response. Right now concert ticket sales are the biggest sources of income for record companies and artists because you can not pirate or file share a live concert. Matt sells tickets.

Music business has become a pile of ---- in recent years. I stopped listening to new music over a decade ago because the charts turned into redundant samey autotuned rubbish. Only when I discovered Matt I started asking the same question as you just did and found out about how only a few huge labels are dominating the business, trying to sell the same music to as much people as possible. That means they mainstream sounds to the max, kill every bit of individuality and wasting ungodly amounts of money on promotion.
With indie artists like Matt you need to know that they exist in the first place to start looking for their music. But you already have taken that step. Enjoy the music, not the hype :)

omg in tears this is too ironic first of all I am redheaded and second my x wrote a song that said if I were you I would cut me lose and run for your life turns out he was right after being abused scarred by him on every level there is my heart still loves him and the way we were I fought and took care of him just to watch him leave and not fight for me the hardest lesson I have ever learned time is too precious and valuable to give to someone that didn't give a damn

'Letters' shot back up into the top 20 downloads on Amazon UK yesterday because the price was dropped temporarily to 3.99P. That pushed it into double gold and toward platinum status. His management have him all over radio and TV. They have him doing much more than chat shows like Loose Women, he is on morning TV, cooking with him mum, on Sports shows, on Celebrity, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. When his PSA for Red Nose Day comes out, he will be even more famous. Matt is now a real celebrity.

I was lucky to be in the UK holidaying from Oz to see X Factor. Matt and Rebecca were definitely the best singers in the contest. 1D are a great "made" boy band which will do very well. But not the talent that Matt has and Rebecca has.
Look forward to seeing more of this VERY talented artist with a voice that is pure pleasure to listen to.

guess what. i've just decided to order his album. because he deserves it. out of all the x factor winners /contestants so far: that i've heard their music of, after x factor. matt is my favourite by far. and he's the first the contestant that i've felt of even possibly buying an album of. so GO Matt!! ur the best x factor contestant; let alone winner so far imo.
Unlike the overproduced One Direction, Matt chose music rather then fame to write his owns songs and reject two big record label that can make him as huge as Olly Mars. Its a shame people calling One Direction a better X factor contestant when clearly Matt beat them in the show.. And Matt is 1000x a better singer then all of them combine..

That reminds me of how Neil Diamond chose big time longevity right away after superstardom came unexpected and fast. He saw no point in trying to top it or do it again like some would try and lose it All, mostly to drugs and lifestyle.
I reckon he would approve of Matt not taking unwise or unhealthy risks. I like to see Matt go easy for a while to STAY Awesome.

i think Mat Cardle and from the greek x-factor Stauros Michalakakos was the best winners of the x-factor in the whole word.
Both are artists and they have special voices and that's why make them special!

Who cares if this dropped down from 6 to 23 in the charts, just because your at the top of the charts doesn't mean your not a bad artist. Matt and his fans don't care where he is in the charts, he is doing better than any other male x factor winner. The charts is over populated with shit dubstep music and this didn't get enough airplay anyway. This song is amazing and i am proud to be a Matt Cardle fan!

Cher is getting all the attention, which is understandable since her songs are easier for the younger generation to relate to and with your love is a pretty catchy song, but I really think this music video by Matt deserves just as much attention.
Letters is amazing, and whilst listening to the album, this song has grown on me as well. Well done Matt, not bad of a debut CD after all!

Mat went from great to something simply beyond words on Thurs night.
I think this guy is very talented, and got a great voice, hope he just don't fade away.
Matt had 3 indie albums out with his bands before 2010, did his winner's album under Columbia's umbrella in 2011, had since 2 other solo albums out that charted 1&2 indie, and right now is touring and recording his 4th album.
Last summer he played the lead role in one of West End's top original musicals which won him a best debut award, too. Rumours have it that he will take on yet another role towards the end of this year.
In short, it doesn't look he'll be out of work anytime soon ;-)
And recently released his fourth album. The only way @mattcardle going is UP the charts. Awesomely talented singer/songwriter and performer.

I liked him on the x factor, then hated him when he came off. Then when I heard this song and saw his interview on the breakfast show Daybreak, I loved him. Now I absolutly adore him. This is one song I could listen to over and over again without getting bored of it.

it annoys me when people are too immature or delusional and go on videos JUST to make negative comments, especially when I don't think they mean them, they just don't want to admit they're better. Matt deserved to win more than any other contestant, and I couldn't be happier that he won, he's so incredibly talented.

I never cared for the track or video but as a sing along, closing number for the concerts, this song works perfectly. The words are relatively easy to remember and except for that last note, most people can sing it without mangling it. Matt has said all along that he chose the tracks for Letters out of the several dozen that he had recorded to be performed live. The tour has proven what great choices he made.
HOLY FUCK I can't believe I found this. I've literally spent the whole of this year and most of last year trying to find this. I remember listening to this on the UK top 40 on my TV when I came home from primary school. Letters is #39 after 14 weeks. Matt appeared on Tracks of My Years with Ken Bruce on BB2 all this past week. He tweeted that he will be a part of British Airway's "In Conversation" series on international flights. He will be among top people from all of the arts, music, comedy, film and telly. Also tweeted that he did an interview with a big radio station in Dubai. It appears that Columbia plans to take Matt international soon. Wonderful news for his fans outside of the UK.

This is the song SyCo crowbarred as a single into Matt's album as a promo vehicle, overruling Columbia and everyone else. Basically this was one of the straws that made Matt take his second solo album and produce it independently.
Nevertheless, he did an excellent job on the vocals like he does with every song he puts his mind/voice to :)
Thanks for the information, Julia68yt. Matt's music is relatively new to me and I'm not such a music purist, so I don't check out the back story on an artist. All I know or care about is how the lyrics and voice sound to me. It seems my remark has stirred up a few in which this really matters to them. I appreciate the information about who actually wrote the lyrics though. They deserve the kudos for the lyrics. Matt deserves the kudos for the way he delivered the lyrics. But in the end, I do love ol' Mattie boy.
I'm no "purist" either ;) Yet when I stumbled upon Matt pretty late in 2012 (which kinda makes me "new" too) I was totally dumbfounded how someone with that kind of obvious abilities "ended up" in a so-called talent show ... and then _still_ chose to produce his stuff independently as soon as he got the chance. These info I picked up alongside my quest to have that question answered :)
Anyway, that's how a non-self-written song got released as a single for a self-written album and keeps confusing people as to its originator.
