I love how consistent Ashly's character is. She is such a true managerial, people-mover, money-maker, business owner, tech mogul/hacker/start up type person in her motivations, perspective, and methods.
Ashly is really good at this. The acting, the plotting, her adaptability. It's a shame she's had so much bad luck with the dice, but at the same time, it sort of fits her character and raises the stakes (pun unintended). It also makes it more rewarding when she finally does get a success, like when she managed to pull away from the woman with the weird hat in the previous episode.
Two years later I’m waiting for someone to tell Ashly she can spend a willpower point to re-roll up to three non-hunger dice. Seems like she could really use that information!
I absolutely love the milestone style advancement scheme you are using here. It works great for new gamers or those new to Vampire (or even just V5), but I think it could work well with experienced players as well. I think maybe 5E D&D has prepared the way for mainstream acceptance of milestones over experience points.
Love that you gave 2 free dots in animal ken to Jen, that's a simple and nice solution. I usually have trouble balancing predator types and stuffl like disciplines stat rolls because I encourage my players to fill the character sheet based on roleplay and not on useful stats, that sometimes creates bad combinations and small dice pools, which are never fun especially in a game like vtm, where rolling actions with few dice basically means getting a total failure most of the time. For example, had a player playing a Camarilla Tremere and liked the idea of having a crow pet. So he decided that In his particular chantry, since that techonlogy is banned in v5, using pet ghouls for exchanging missives and stuff between Tremeres was common practice. Therefore he decided that his sire gifted him a crow ghoul for this reason. Point is, his character had 0 animal ken. From a roleplaying standpoint it didn't make sense having high animal ken since it didn't fit with the character at all; also pets were used just for messages and they were supposedly trained for that. However, this meant that if he wanted to command something to his animal ghoul animal ken 0 was needed, not fun at all. Having 3 dots in ghoul background made the most sense to me at the time and commands were justified with "yeah it's your ghoul, you've got deep connection, no need to roll animal ken", but that's some dots going down the drain in character creation only to justify the crow ghoul. In hindsight, the simplest solution would've been to give him free Animalism 1 bound famulus and call it a day, hell maybe lv2 feral whispers too. That would've made my job easier and the player happier. Sometimes as a GM you get really nervous about giving free stats away because it could ruin the game balance or upset other players, so you try to stick to the rules as much as you can. But what can I say, this is the second time that Jared taught me something about GMing, truly a great GM.
I was also wondering if I could offer some advice re: dice rolls. I noticed you used the "succeed with consequences" rule once, but maybe you could make use of the "take half" rule, to cut down on dice rolls for lower difficulty challenges? Just a thought.
35:00ish. Ashly telling her COO not to sell the company is hilarious. Her death is being faked, she's dead! lmao It wouldn't even be her company anymore! I get they might not have thought that far into it though
As someone who was deeply ingrained in the 2nd Edition & 3rd Edition VtM rule sets, I reckon I would be getting constantly caught out on the whole Blush of Life thing, if I were to play a game using the 5th Edition rules.
So far Jared is the best GM I have seen so far even considering Jason and that is saying a lot. Not too focused on the rules, but the acting and suspense is awesome. Also the players are really good. Love it. There is one thing though which could have been kept secret a while longer to maybe lead to sth. ... The clan of the prince. ;-) I loved the part where she fed Miles and both laughed at each other for a while. : D That was when I first realised what she could be.
Gotta love the way the rules are implemented over time, when it makes snense to the story. I’m stealing that!
Miles Vanderbuck is slowly becoming one of my favourite vamps! Great work by Mr. Middleditch.

She’d have made a fantastic Ventrue if that had been in the cards for her.
Love the show! Please consider making Vampire a longer story!!!
We are definitely working to keep it going as long as we can! Glad to have you watching!
@@StreamofBlood Thank you for the reply!! Keep it up, its awesome

I'm a little late, but a "vodka and blood" could be a "Vampire Weekend." Or a "Black Widow Promotional Tie-In."
Paradox/White Wolf should finance a web series with all of you.
Also, I cannot help but notice how much Ashley's character is dicing with imminent Final Death. I sure hope she knows what she is doing 😉.

Ashly proving once again she's an all-star. Hot damn.

27:33 A true CEO
Remember, Ashly, since both Miles and Curtis are 'alley cats' your Jen could 'farm' them for vitae too :O
So Curtis made a Hellhound...😁🤣
