This IMO is one of the greatest Nocturnes ever composed. Sweet, delicate, and then takes you for a romantic ride that takes your breath away. I like to think of this piece as being the entrance to seeing a lost loved one in your life, right by your side, talking sweetly into your ears about the happiness they found and letting you know they're still here. Then they whisk you away and take you on a ride of emotions, a roller coaster of them, only to get off and return to that sweet and delicate conversation. 3:08 marks the beginning of an end. You find out your loved one must go back. 3:22 marks where you finally see your loved one back away and slowly fade, while your head is down, crying, letting go. But they're still there watching you.
@@randykern1842fr and one of the prettiest too, im starting to play henle grade 6 pieces and this one is probably still a couple months out before my technique is there
What an incredible musician. For me, Rubinstein's interpretations place him over other great pianists. If you don't understand what the composer is saying in his composition, it doesn't matter how technically perfect your performance is. Music is a product of the heart as well as of the mind.
For me, the nocturnes encapsulate all that is good in society but not in a pompous or dramatic way, we're not perfect and there is darkness, but behind the darkness there is beauty.
@@cragetty-ragetty5673 keep at it! No matter how long it takes it gets better. Months later and I'm now getting the tempo more in time with the B section. I'll get there ha!
I've listened to dozens upon dozens of recordings, seriously. And yet, I keep coming back to this one. The hunting transition from the opening to the middle section, so so much ethereal longing, so rhythmically profuse abd moving. A passage beyond objective descriptors, as it's just too mystical, spiritual and transcending in nature, so beyond the norm in every and best of possible ways... Wow. I'm in utter awe and bliss here .🙏🏼🤎
That's a shame. F# Major is actually a pretty easy key to play on piano, and this piece especially is not too difficult on the technique, all things considered. I would really encourage pianists who scared off by it to give it a try. If anything, the fact that you're on so many black keys kind of encourages a light touch, which, when accompanied by varied and delicate use of the pedal, is always nice for Chopin. At least that has been my experience, and I've been playing this piece for decades.
It pisses me off when I read things like that in the comments that are “how difficult”. Dude, I practice sight reading with that. Sit down, study a bit, sacrifice yourself a little more, or be born again, or dedicate yourself to making hamburgers on the court!
Some people are struggling with this nocturne but it doesn't mean they're not working hard. Stop bragging like the narcissist you are, no one needs your idiotic advices.
I swear, if Freddy Fazbear is waiting for me again…
“Wouldn’t it be quite the coincidence if right behind us going 80 miles an hour comes Freddy Fazbear in his Ford Focus.”
Wonderful piece and terrific nocturne. Thank you Chopin,
Jacob H Is a bad person
@@JezzaBazza But at least he's h.
I'm confused 🤣 but okay
And thanks to Rubinstein

This is my favorite nocturne... A gem!
That middle part is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard in my life. It is divine perfection.
unfortunately this piece doesn't get the recognition it deserves.
When a piece doesn't feel as easy as you thought it would be....
Same 😂
Oh chile them rhythms alone are enough, this is one of the most difficult nocturnes

@SkatingScenes Yes way, I wasn’t inviting a debate
@SkatingScenes To make it sing? Yes, I would say
I once heard a comment saying that Chopin’s music has the ability to express ‘beautiful despair,’ and that seems like a very accurate description.

Heavenly beautiful piece!
The best nocturne. So gorgeous
How fast is that sponge moving?
Thank you Chopin
I know a thing about music just that this feels like something beyond me, happines, tranquility, and a bit of sadness all together, just beautiful...
Lovely. I had a video on my channel that featured the piece but audio quality was extremely degraded and it took months for someone to identify it

This is the first piece played by Beth March in Greta Gerwin’s 2019 adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women.
I’m in the process of learning this piece....it’s soooooo tricky but I love it! I’ll get there one day 😁
Omg, same 😄. I can definitely agree with you on the fact that this piece is very technically demanding and challenging. Good luck! You can do it! 😁.
how are you going with learning it
@@aondutta325 quite well thank you. However I am struggling to get the tempo to be more uniform especially in the B section.
me as well...lost some motivation tho...

So was the sponge that goes a million miles an hour
why spong so fst
It is so rare that you have a piece that express such uncommon emotions, the first and last parts are actually some kinds of mixed emotions.
Musicians when they notice the key signature: *nope*
So F#cking true.
"Musicians", yes, are put off by F# major lol, yes.

F sharp major is one of my favorite keys. It's easy to play it on the piano, cause of the black keys.

Lovely nocturne
Wow, wasn't expecting that. This sounded like a walk in the park until...0:39, 2:41😢
those parts are not THAT hard, its always 3 or 4 notes patterned, other things such as middle section is harder, and the main musicality
The moment @1:40 always catches me. Ohh...Chopin.
Am I the only one who is hearing the Winnie the Pooh theme there?

Why this piece considered top 2 hardest nocturne?
If top 1 is op 48 no 1
Middle section - quintuplets inside of octaves, alongside leaping syncopated LH. There are probably other candidates for second most challenging.
