Asian parents are not easy to have or deal with. But this was done only of what they knew what "love" was. Me being an asian it was hard for me growing up, as when I was little, my parents would get annoyed and angry at me because I took longer to learn than other kids. A lot later I found out that I have ADHD and Aspergers. Those weren't really a thing 30 years ago(I'm 36.). I used to feel sad and neglected by then, and oppressed. Nowadays I look back and look at what they had to endure as well, and it was because their parents treated them like that. As I got older and older, they started to treat me better. But it was tough. Nowadays I'm graduated in computer engineering, and if it wasn't for their constant push, I don't think I'd be. It's tough love and bittersweet. I don't blame them much, as I think I was also a bit difficult. The amount of blame decreased exponentially after I got to be an young adult, and my understanding grew exponentially too. It's still painful remembering those memories from the past but I can't hold a grudge against them anymore. It's like trying to blame someone for their incompetence and not really being 100% their fault. Asian culture is tough, based on respect to your elder, and demanding high-achievement. They weren't the best parents but not the worst either. Nowadays my mom is very apologetic and sorry for the past, but I just say it wasn't her fault but I forgive her anyway. She's getting older and older, and I don't want to miss her, nor feel like I should've done things differently when she eventually passes away. Everyone's story's different. But I hope that it works out for you all. Life is fleeting and fragile. Hold those dear to you close, and remember that to err is human, and to forgive is divine. Live the next day as if it was your last, but you can of course rest. I always say that rush is the enemy of perfection but slowness is enemy of objective. It's never too late for something. And like my mom always says, "There's always a way for anything, except death."
