    They were both right on the money about Pacino's acting and character development in Scent of a Woman. You despise him at the start, find a degree of understanding about him in New York, and end up near saluting him at the end - all in a tone that is believable. Chris O'Donnell did a great job of just being an overwhelmed kid as well... that role really could have gone South with the wrong actor, but it ended up being just amazing.

    Forever Young is a very underrated movie. It wasn't perfect but it was good for what it was. I think critics and audiences were looking more for action packed Mel Gibson similar to Lethal Weapon around this time when he wanted to move on to different things. Sadly the same was true the following year with The Man Without a Face his directorial debut which got good reviews but did badly at the box office and was a very good and sadly overlooked film.

    I used to watch Forever Young a lot when I was a kid. I quite liked it then.

    Forever Young was pretty moving. It wasn't sucky at all and the ending was probably the most stunning I've ever seen in a movie

    The ending scene in scent of a woman is one of my absolute favorite movie scenes ever
    “but NOT A SNITCH”

    Al Pacino should’ve gotten the Oscar for Godfather II. Such command of subtlety. I wonder if he went over the top later on because he might’ve felt people weren’t receptive to his subtle touches, so he decided to overact. That’s why we get HOO AH.

    I think "Toys" was wonderful. The basic idea is that even peaceful people must occasionally stand up and fight for what is right, even if it's against their nature to do so.

    Ebert didn't recommend A Few Good Men?
    They both liked The Bodyguard?

    At least mel gibson did lethal weapon 3, maverick, braveheart and ramsom after Forever young

      _Forever Young_ was a box-office hit -- among the Top 20 grossers of the year -- so the film was beneficial to Mel Gibson's career, not detrimental. As they say in Hollywood, you're only as good as your latest hit. Plus, Gibson had a banner year, because _Lethal Weapon 3_ was also the 5th highest-grossing film of 1992!

    I watched this when it aired when I was probably 8 or 9, their bad review of Toys just ended up making me want to see it.

    I saw Damage when I was in grad school. When I told a friend about the plot, he asked me "Didn't he feel guilty?"

    Only problem with Damage is Juliette Binoche is clearly gay.
    It gets harder for a gay woman to play straight as they age, because it becomes more physically noticeable.

    Forever Young disappointed me as I wanted Mel Gibson's character to end up with Jamie Lee Curtis' character but nope instead his girlfriend from long ago is magically still alive and waiting.

    I haven't seen TOYS but I get the same douchechills that I get from Patch Adams. What I mean is, Robin Williams takes on this role because he basically wants to say "Screw the world that doesn't understand me !".

    • @LumpyAdams

      He did what Meryl Streep started doing later in her career. Take garbage scripts in hopes of standing out to get an Oscar nomination. Shameless crap.

    As bad as the hollow and unfunny TOYS was, some of its ideas about miniaturization and weapons proved to be pretty prescient.

    I agree with Ebert in A Few Good Men! The most uninspired, bland mediocre overrated trial movie ever. The only good thing is Jack Nicholson. I saw it in cinemas, predictable and dull.

    • @VinMar-m6w
      @VinMar-m6w ปีที่แล้ว

      _A Few Good Men_ was the 7th highest-grossing film of 1992.

    • @patrickc3419
      @patrickc3419 ปีที่แล้ว

      My problem with A Few Good Men is the fact that it was, from what I understand, an adaptation from an original stage play. The movie seemed to have taken on that “theatre style”, over-the-top, overacting in it’s adaptation.
      Aside from that, I can’t quite explain how I mean this; it’s score and cinematography gives it a tv movie feel.
