- Astrophysicist & engineer Dr. Michael Owen will discuss planetary live stacking and enhancement in SharpCap 4.1. In conjunction with the SharpCap astronomy imaging software developer Dr. Robin Glover, he has developed a method for live, on-the-fly planetary stacking, sharpening, and color correction. This allows for dramatically improved views not only of planets such as Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and Venus, but also full disk lunar and solar images, splitting double stars, etc. The tool can also be used as a focus and collimation aid.

fabulous work ! please share us with more info
on usage with collimation
Nice presentation, even through i image at a reasonable high level and have quite a good understanding of Planetary and the best practices i was happy to sit and watch it all. Thanks for the video and presentation from Michael. 👍
All the best

Amazing set of software. I’ve started live stacking in a prior version but hadn’t gone through any instruction so didn’t know what I was doing, but hope to give this a go once we can see the sky again here in Vermont. Thanks to the speaker for the in depth review of the features and capabilities.
Thank you. Very informative. I was debating whether or not to upgrade but did after watching this and it worked great with test files.
Very informative. Thanks!!
OK - I just tested with live ZWO camera attached and this is great - easy buttons to capture PNG as seen or 16-bit TIFF. I assume standard SER capture is done with the usual controls. Thanks for great software.
Quite nice! Out of curiosity, I just loaded a .png file of M-13 which I took with my short tube 80. It cleaned it up quite nicely. Made it quite sharp and took out the noise.
Thank you. I’ve been a regular SharpCap user for years. Question: when using planetary livestack at the scope/camera, how do I save the livestack and a SER file
My first time last night, wasn't that good. Every time I tried to do live stacking, Sharp Cap pro told me I was not aligned. But, Saturn was right in the center of the picture. What am I doing wrong? Also, I should have used a barlow lens which I did not use.
I started using the Planetary Live Stacking 2 months ago for Solar imaging. It is amazing. I no longer use Pipp or Autostakkert. Sharpcap basically does the majority of the post processing during the actual image capture. Once I have the finished Sharpcap tiff image I move it into PI. Using solar tools I then do the final processing. The real timesaver is saving the processing settings in Sharpcap and Solar tools in PI. I just open the final Tiff file and open the solar tools script and hit the OK button. I use the same saved settings for every capture. Tremendous time saver that producers a consistent final image every time.
Excellent présentation!
Good evening I have a question I have installed SharpCaps Pro on my laptop but for some reason Tools= Live solar/lunar/planetary stacking is not activated can you help me please thank you.
Oh nice, I haven't done this yet, very interesting
Thank you very much for sharing! however my version of Sharpcap Pro Ver.4.1.11294.0 DATED 11/13/2023 doesn't have the Planetary Live stack tool. was the latest version released after 11/13/2023?
never mind, I see the latest version released 11.17.2023, I downloaded and now have the stacking tool. Good to go! Thank you!
Fantastic
Thanks for the presentation. Perhaps emphasize more upfront that the point of this is to render aesthetically pleasing images while capturing data without consuming valuable RAM. Not a substitute for autostakkert or other post-processing software.
Better in future to show live action not taking things from your computer. Show us how to start , first steps.Eg. when aply Roi before live stacking I suppose, who you expect tobtell uscsuch things 99 ov your clip is in adjustments. But in the firstvtine one must catch a planet and beginbto have some images to adjust.
