    Lived here most of my 53 years. This town gave me alot of stories and memories.good and bad. one of the best memories was my across the street neighbor making it in pro basketball, his name was Julius Erving.

    Wow! I discovered your videos when you did my city of Yonkers. And now, OMG, you shoot Hempstead where I spent a lot of time! I recognize all those streets from 20+ years ago. My in-laws live in West Hempstead and my wife and I lived nearby early in our marriage. If you’d gone a little further in one direction, you’d’ve driven past the church where we got married. And if you’d gone further in another direction, you would have reached Hofstra University. But you hit most of the hood spots near Fulton, Franklin, and Main.

    Thank you for this wonderful. I grew up on Long Island in Nassau and Hempstead was “ the hood” for us White kids from the suburbs such as Levittown and Merrick. I always was fascinated how even though Hempstead is located in the suburbs it looks similar to Queens or a city vibe. But Hempstead has a certain charm to it because it is the hub of African American culture in predominantly white Long Island. I find your videos fascinating and anthropological and sociological in a sense because you are showing that there are bustling African American neighborhoods in the suburbs that many people are unaware of. Please do New Cassel ( Prospect Avenue in the 1980’s was loaded with marijuana dealers ) but I think they refurbished the area now?
    Roosevelt, Freeport and Wyandanch or Amityville would be interesting. Keep up the good work.

      hempstead high class of 1969. This town, which once hosted an Arnold Constable, has been on a downward spiral for over 60 years. It is an embodiment of failed liberal policies of the post-war era. The high school has long been a dangerous place where even the teachers are attacked and the children do not learn.

      Naw this facts I’m from Texas but NY is my second home all my family is up there so I’m always up there and growing up I never saw a difference between queens and west Hempstead I got family in both and would go back and forth and from the putt looking in I’d still count it as an extension of queens in a way deeper in Long Island is where you really see the difference

    • @analogkid4957
      @analogkid4957 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@javimontana817 it’s a little different than Queens. It’s smaller in size and a bit less busy but not by much. Hempstead for Long Island standards is probably the most similar to the City than any other town on Long Island. Hempstead even has apartment buildings and projects I think still on Terrace Avenue. But it’s still smaller and a bit quieter than the Queens . If you go in deeper to primarily African American and Hispanic areas such Wyandanch it’s even quieter and smaller.

      @@LaidBackLockz the center of Garden City is big money. A lot of middle class on the edges of Garden City, Uniondale, too. Cathedral Gardens and Ingraham Estates in Hempstead have BEAUTIFUL homes.

    • @MamaCat29
      @MamaCat29 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cathedral Gardens and Ingraham Estates have a ton of money. Beautiful big homes. I see a lot of parts of Hempstead that have well-maintained homes to this day. But the northern part of Hempstead except for Cathedral Gardens has a lot of undocumented folks living in poverty and gang wars. That's the part closest to Garden City and to the rich part of Hempstead.
