I caught a 33 incher with a hand line through a 6" hole (about 4 feet of ice) on Gunflint Lake on the Minnesota/Ontario border years ago and it was quite a thrill. Yours was incredible. When that head came into view I could not even imagine it. What a great place to be alive....
Thats one of the things that keeps me grinding through all this agony! There upper limits of what's possible really isn't even known! So much mystery up here.
I'm a fan of togue, what we call in maine (lake trout for others) for a taste meal and I'm a chef who love cooking great tasting items. I would love to try the 24 hours of light for fishing but would hate it for sleeping.. thanks for sharing your adventures.

Ice out in metro area of minnesota in march this year. We have been setting records for daily streaks of 90 degrees and ya'll still have 7 feet of ice, that's crazy!

In the winter I fish a small lake the size of a mall. Got three over 35 inches last year. One was 43 inch what a crazy fight. Nice laker dude. Worth the overnighter lol
Please make sure to put the co detector at the height where your head will be 90% of the time. If it's too high while you're head is along the ground you can still end up dead from co.
