    It's clear that a major thing last year's champs, Mat and Tia, have in common is a partner who effectively takes care of everything else in life so they can focus on training. Having supportive family and friends is great and useful but I'm not sure it can compare to a partner who literally does everything else in your life. The mental impact of not having any added concern, no matter how seemingly trivial, is gigantic.

      @r2d23678 She always seems to find herself in one event where she implodes. She does great, and then something happens and if I remember correctly, it might be something that's she's done well in, in the past. To me, that says it's a mental thing, not physical, or lack of preparation. Once Sara gets that under control she could be dangerous.
      But what do I know.....I just watch to see Brooke Wells....LOL

    This is going to be a hell of a year for the women. There are 6 or 7 strong contenders, not that you can count any of the 40 out necessarily, but there are 6 or so names that it wouldn't surprise me if they were standing on top of the podium at the end of the weekend.

  • @ssideris
    @ssideris 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Honestly, I think both Katrin and Tia are amazing, they have to be considering they were 1st and 3rd respectively but I think the slight difference is just mindset. As some commenters pointed out, Katrin wants to win whereas Tia knows she can win. Those two mindset can make such a difference for your overall performance. When you know you can win, you just have to understand what you have to do but not torturing yourself mentally. When you want to win and every mistake you do is emphasized individually, that will never get you to where you want to be. You're just so dead set on your flaws, you forgot where you can shine. I mean, TCT got 14th on an event and yet she still won the '18 games. Yes, winning a game means a lot but if you know you're not that good at it, don't stress about your flaws or your mistakes. Think about what can you do next to resolve that and improve your placing on the board

      I kind of agree with this, but don't forget that Katrin already has two titles. She knows she *can* win; all that's left in her case is the will to do it.
      Of course, TCT won it again in 2018, and it's hard to argue with success. But I think that it's more a matter, as someone pointed out below, of inefficiencies that Katrin has that TCT doesn't. TCT's crisper, smoother. If I were Katrin's coach, I'd spend a lot of time polishing up her technique on a lot of lifts. That's where the real gains could come.

    Technique beats strength, precision beats power, efficiency beats hard work. Katryn, for years got away with out working the class. She was bigger. She could handle more punishment. But after a while those loopy inefficiencies in her snatch catch up. And all it takes is the smaller, more efficient engine to catch up. Tia is crisp. Her lifts precise. Tia is the Tesla. Fast off the blocks. Katryn is the v8 f150. But that f150 has a lot of miles on it. It's starting to break down.

      Nathan Campbell I know what the video is called. I’m not blind. And if you watched the whole thing they included Annie in the end as well as Sara and Kara. I was joking that Annie has been surging. She took 3rd last year and took the top spot at the meridian, something she hasn’t done convincingly in years. Just because she hasn’t taken first again doesn’t mean she can’t. The women’s race is tight and it will be a fight. Just a joke so calm down.

    Great video, but the music/talk sound levels vary WAY too much. Super annoying to have to sit with the remote to change volume for 40min

      Same thought here. I had to put in headphones so I could hear what everyone was saying.
