Just noticed that while the distance of the tongue projectile changes, the time it takes the projectile to travel that distance doesnt - which means the projectile moves faster. It kinda makes sense considering Tahm is locked into an animation during his Q, so it would feel super klunky to be stuck on the spot, but as a consequence it seems really hard to dodge.
Alternate title: AP Tahm Kench turns you into a Heartsteel procs' junkie for the whole game

What I'm learning is that AP items aren't too strong, it's that AP champs are so weak that often times AD champs can better abuse their items because they will have whack ass random AP ratios while ALSO having strong base damage and ofc naturally strong autos which matter A LOT.

@@99temporal it's a huge problem that ad items are catered towards each champ class but AP is just a bunch of items for all champ classes at once. It's just piss poor design by riot over the years.

worthy note: demonic probably doesnt exist because liandry fully takes it role now, they wouldin basically every way be the same item more than they were before (difference in cost/hp/ap/%burn varying slightly ofc)

Played Kench vs Heimer top lane recently, matchup seemed unplayable early, had to just sit under turret and farm. Glad to see it was not just me 😆

Random Deep Dive
I wonder what hail of blades would do in a situation where you go nashors and attack speed.
Assume 800ap, 3000bhp, hob, attack speed rune, nashors. All values at lvl 18, current patch cos i cba to do this with old patch. It's just for fun tbh.
If you hit w 3aa qr (150% +240% +160% = 550% ap + 16%bhp + 71% max hp magic = 4880 + 71%max) is 6037 +71%maxhp mdamage with base damages added. This would be over a total of approx 3 seconds starting from w hit, of which 2.25seconds is hard cc (w knockup(1) and r suppress+regurgitate(1.25) displacement).
Over initial w hit +3aa +q you'd have 4237 magic damage over 1.75 seconds = 3221dps.
This becomes 2012 +24%maxhp dps. when including ult.
Enemies would have a .75s window to flash away or otherwise escape between the second auto and the q.
If they cleanse the suppress from tahm r, they don't take the r damage meaning only 5637 damage.
Against ryze (highest base hp for ranged champ = 2753, hp with items = 2753 + 800, base mr =54.1, ebhp = 4242, ehp with items = 5475, with seraph shield (rod, seraph's, frozen heart)= 920 shield taking ehp up to 6892)
Against ryze, 71%maxhp damage = 2522
Tahm would do (premitigation): 6037+2522=8559
8559>6892 so theoretically, could one-combo pretty much any ranged champion unless they build mr.
Ryze with banshees instead of frozen heart would have 8746ehp
Tahm wouldn't be able to oneshot Banshees ryze even if shield were down, assuming Tahm has no pen.
I'm too tired to do more calculations at this point so I'll leave it here. Some of my calcs might be off as i had to edit them quite a few times as I figured out how this would all work. Also, I have realised that I haven't added manaflow or buiscuits to the seraph's shield calcs, it shouldn't matter too much.
Also, if someone built a qss, they'd dodge all the r damage so that would probably be the most effective counter to this as it's mr and you dodge 400+71%maxhp magic damage. Against tanks, you def can't full combo but i wouldn't be surprised if you could do at least half their health with it. With a lot of pen, the r maxhp% would still do a lot of damage, but again, qss nullifies it.
Best counter to the build? Probably bruisers that build botrk and can go qss.

Seems counterproductive to your heartsteel to build more ap items after riftmaker. Its infinite scaling and to get the biggest tongue range is you need 8k health

For as little as I want to see Heartsteel buffed (it needs to be nerfed hard), I think it would make sense if you got the stack if you get a killing blow on an enemy with a charging stack (not on cooldown).

yeah his tongue lash range scales 1:1 with size modifiers.
also, the tongue _always_ reaches it’s max range at the same speed, so it moves faster as you scale with size. this makes it a bit harder to dodge close range as he gets bigger

How are you able to play on PBE without literally EVERYONE abusing the Hexplate bug? I haven't been able to play games in a week without both teams having karthus/ashe/cait etc... spamming ult every 20 seconds or less for some champs. It is so dumb and it seems ridiculous that they haven't hotfixed or just disabled the item.

Sure, 700 on hit is no joke, but tanks/bruisers are very tanky.
Pekin got up to around 800ap and like 60% conversion (3000bhp) so lets say 80% ap +4%bhp + 63 magic damage per auto.
823 magic damage per auto.
Against tanky comps you'd build void or an equivalent, lets say 40% pen and a standard bruiser would have around 180(?)mr and 4k(?) hp. Could be wrong.
That means that they'd have an effective hp of 11200. With void in the equation that's 40% less mr so approx 100mr and an ehp of 8000 hp.
You'd be doing 10% of their hp per auto. With nashors, zerkers, attack speed rune, (not counting lethal tempo because that makes calcs annoying) that would be approx 7.8 seconds to do 10 autos/to kill.
Against tanks, lets say 6000hp, 300mr (180 with void) so ehp of 16800 with void.
At 823 magic damage per auto, it would take 20 autos give or take so ~15.6 seconds. Lethal tempo would probably make a big difference, maybe take it down to around 5 seconds to kill bruisers and 10 seconds to kill tanks but I haven't done those calculations.
That's a long time to kill in league (i could be wrong here) for two reasons imo. Bruiser's probs build botrk/have maxhp damage of their own as well as lifesteal. As you don't build much armour in this tahm build and are almost solely hp tanky, you'd get shredded. On the other hand, i don't see a world where a tank can't get away/disengage in 10 seconds.
An issue with the model is that it assumes 1v1 and no cc as well as no item effects. Tahm has quite a bit off cc and additional damage he can weave in to his kit but then again, same with bruisers. Tanks esp have cc.
Overall, i don't think it's as strong as it looks at first glance. Artillery tahm like Pekin did in the video is probably better.
